Since it's obvious no relief is coming on the quirks front, I gave up on Summoners.
But I'm probably still going to try the Gargoyle when it's available for CB because clearly I'm either a masochist or just too stupid to learn from miserable experiences.

I just wish the 6 energy arm wasn't mc only
Well it won't be forever. At least my understanding was that the MC variants would make their way in for CB as well eventually.
When will these 'Mechs be available in-game for purchase with MC and C-Bills?
The MC and C-Bill release dates for all 'Clan Reinforcements' Variants is April 21st, 2015.

So I may be late to the party, but I'm really digging this Hellbringer build. It can run hot, but it has the right mix of punch, missiles for supporting fire, and ECM for my tastes. And it tastes delicious.
Clearly you've not yet laid witness upon the LRM20 Raven.
Speaking of LRMs, I've seen older videos of MWO and the LRMs look so awesome, a thousand times better than they do today. Why? Why is MWO, Graphically, Moving backward? Fancy LRMs, Real Thermalvision, all this really nice stuff is getting replaced with ugly stupid stuff.

@Nips swap the 3ERMLs for 3SPLs. It will run much cooler and give you better cycle time to chase off the light. You've got the range with the larges and LRMs.

Thermal vision - there was no reason to turn it off, ever. Overpowered.
Fancy LRMs and SRMs: created weird effects on impact, (depending on the movement, they'd either spread out and miss more or clump up and slam into a single spot) and apparently were a bit laggy.

So here's a question--at this stage in the quirkening, what's the worst mech in the game--other than the ultra-lights?
Gargoyle?
The jester is the one I see complained about most. No clan mech could ever be the worst in the game, because it's still a clan mech at the end of the day.

I'll give that a try on the next variant. I like the 446/892 m (w/ tier 5 range module) reach the ERML have on this one, and I'd hate to give it up. One ERLL and an LRM-20 with 36 salvos is fine but it's not a lot of reach.
Dang. Was too tired to play last night, so ill only get 6.9 million bonus bills. Still a nice chunck of change to pay the DHS tax on the Grasshopper and Zeus.
Still worried about the sheer height of the hopper, but those nice high mounted Laser mounts are nice.
I'm getting a kick out of all the clanners threatening demanding refunds because they hate the idea of a clan xl engine nerf and the clan quirks weren't on the scale given to bottom tier is mechs.
One look at the star map is enough to convince me that the clans have things really good right now and things will only get better for them with wave 3.
The only things I sympathize with are their mobile assaults like the gargoyle and executioner and their slower lights that can't equip a larger engine. The gargoyle seems to suffer from an awkward movement model, and I suspect the executioner will falter because it's design expects jump jets that actually jump. However the highlander and nearly every other jump mech suffers from that. I think the executioner will probably be pretty good if they ever fix jump jets.
Also, those lights can still keep running after a side torso pops. I'm expecting the Arctic Cheetahs to potentially dethrone the fire starter as top light mechs.
Jump jets are really underwhelming. I had four on one of my Panthers and removed all but one because I still took off like a goddamn Saturn V (which wikipedia informs me weighs 2,950 metric tons). Its faster to rub a goddamn wall with my face than use them out in the open too. Either way, the chances of me sitting on my spacebar 30 seconds to actually get somewhere are pretty slim.
Multiple jumpjets should give you better acceleration off the ground. I don't know who's brilliant idea it was to only increase jump capacity with multiple jets, but they could probably use a remedial lesson in physics.
I know it was you Paul. I know those 4chan guys totally humiliated you with knockdown dragons, but shit man, that was beta. Suck it up and play your own game for real. You can do it!
I'm going to need two lights to be my defense drones when the servers come back on, going to need one to give my Zeus ECM Coverage and another one to tag/narc so I can extend my right hand of glory and release a deadly swarm of justice.

I feel like jump jets already make 'Mechs absurdly nimble for how much they're supposed to weigh, but I guess that's the background. Fusion engine or not there's not nearly enough reaction mass to make them go careening around like the Rocketeer. A Harrier jump jet is around 7 tons, but compared to various Mechwarrior games it just sort of slowly floats around when it's doing its thing.
Absurd sort of left the building when we accepted that we are piloting stompy robots instead of driving tanks.
Absurdity is relative. BattleMechs, even with jump jets, are still at the low end of the Fictional Humongous Mecha Agility scale... it may be implausible for them to get off the ground at all, but compared to Gundam and stuff it looks like gritty realism.

Yes, my Panther is about as nimble as a Timberwolf. That seems ridiculous to me too. I'm not sure that's a problem with lights or jumpjets, but more of an overall design failure.
Jump jets feel about right for Mediums at the moment. Lights should handle better. Heavies and Assaults probably shouldn't be able to turn while jumpjetting and have reduced torso twist. Rubbing up against a wall shouldn't turn horizontal velocity into vertical movement.
Jump Jets are 0.5 tons on a Light or a Medium. A single ton is a significant weight investment for a light, easier for a medium. Most heavies can spare a ton or two without thinking about it.
Part of the problem is that they set up all of the maps to have 4x earth's gravity. No wonder jump jets lift you up so slowly and are incapable of reversing a fall.
I wish they'd do more with the environmental aspects of maps considering they seemed to have taken some effort to make them affect gameplay.
I want heavy gravity planets, or .1 gravity asteroids, or maps that are so cold that you have to keep your mech hot to keep from its externals from freezing up for movement debuffs.

that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
I also Mastered the damn thing in the process.
Yes but I actually have to think about where I put my shots.
I don't want to think when I'm boating.
I just want to press the buttons and make the mechs fall down.
I won some staredowns against Dire Wolves because of that trait.
But I'm probably still going to try the Gargoyle when it's available for CB because clearly I'm either a masochist or just too stupid to learn from miserable experiences.

Edit: Confirmed.

I do not disagree. It's super-high mounted though, which has come in handy a number of times.

She is pretty darn fast for a heavy with her xl 340 engine.
It needs it's jj back though.

As always, and ever, Centurions get shit done.

Mech JumpJets are more like strapping a bunch of JATO modules to a take so it can get on top of a building.

This seems like a good time to mention that the BattleTech tabletop game actually HAS a "jumping" tank.

Did any of you guys experience the weather in STALKER? I want that feel in my stompy bot.
Armchair: 4098-3704-2012
Son, The weather is nothing.
Its the blowouts that are the true terror of the zone, Blowouts, and invisible squid faced vampires.

OMG The faction colors come out today too! I'm going to be to busy playing fashionista to shoot bots.
