Does anyone know what's up with local multiplayer? I thought this had couch co-op, but whenever my son tries to join me, it asks him to sign in to PSN. I've never seen a couch co-op game where everyone on the couch had to have an active PSN account. Am I missing something here?

What is happening is that you are probably singing in first, in game, with a PSN account, causing the games PSN features to engage (uploading stuff to the war effort). Then, your son is trying to join with a non-PSN account, but since the PSN features are already engaged it is flipping out.

Make sure both of you guys are signed in at the title screen, but before actually entering the game, and it should give you some kind of message about playing with the PSN features disabled, accept that, and it should work.

That's how me and my friends got it to work for couch co-op, it's not very intuitive but being an indie title sometimes you gotta put up with some UI wonkiness to play a great game.

My brother picked this up and we played it all morning. Our first accident occurred when he had just unlocked the shotgun and was trying it out; I'm sure you can imagine how that went.

Just grabbed it myself. I'm Mekredd on PSN, and I'll have this downloaded in a bit.

My first big accident was trying out the new and improved shiny bayonet on my rifle that increased the range and damage.

It was quite the increase, let us say.

Thanks. What ended up happening was we just backed out of the "must be signed in to PSN" error message, then it sits there at a login screen and seems like its frozen up, but if you wait a bit it gives you the option to then play offline.

SO has anyone run into the giant roly poly bug? How the heck to you kill that? We were shooting it in the glowing orange butt for about 15 minutes but no dice and then he squished us. Either it has INSANE hp or Mega Man has lied to me.

Shootin' 'em in the butt works, but takes quite a bit of lead. Anti-tank support weapons can kill them without hitting their weak point.

Yeah, it's been down for a bit, unfortunately. I can't find any kind of official (or unofficial for that matter) website or forum to check for information either.

So, what's everyone's favorite stratagems so far? I've been digging the APC; it has 4 seats, so everyone can be bussed around and be relatively safe.

Landmines, UAV, flamethrower and the jump pack was my go to for a while.

But now that armored enemies are showing up with regularity I think I am going to have to sink some science into some anti-tank tech.

I like taking the first airstrike I have it maxed so it now can kill tanks, the basic assault rifle fully upgraded and either grenade launcher or flamethrower, coupled with UAV and turrets, my friend usually bring along mines so thats no worry.

developers take note this is how you do weapon sounds and feel, they all have that oomph to them.

this game actually reminds me a lot of mercenaries because of the call ins

If you haven't read both 1984 and Starship Troopers (the book, not Paul Verhoeven's endearingly dippy film adaptation), you owe it to yourself to do so now in between Helldiving forays.

Heinlein's book is a quick read. Orwells' is fairly quick once you get past the lifeless first act. Both appear to have influenced this game's setting quite extensively.

    Eh.

Oceania is still worse then Super Earth. I mean, at least Super Earth is actually designed to work, and it seems like someone is benefiting from all this. Oceania is just a series of interlocking bureaucracies and polices arranged to self perpetuate and never allow anyone to benefit from anything or work right.

We had similar situation last night. We were going to kick off a planet with a survivor escort mission. It's a tight map, with a two man team, so we jump in as close as possible. The drop pods obliterate two survivors on the way down.

Super Earth clearly does not negotiate with terrorists.

Had a good time divin with @SyphonBlue; we were running couch co-op on my end, so thanks for putting up with some chattiness and our general lack of ability!

What gun should one be using to shoot patrols before they see you solo? I'm using the AR, which isn't accurate enough most of the time, but I can't solo a mission with the sniper rifle jobbie either.

Bug patrols are tough to take out without an alarm as they all are able to sound the alarm and do it from a pretty good distance out.

Cyborgs are easier because only one unit, the larger one, can sound an alarm.

I've been running the MG strategem almost exclusively and am usually quick enough on the draw to take out patrols without an alarm.

I start a dive by throwing a resupply, and the MG strategems. That gives me 3 boxes of ammo for the MG and 12 mags for my AR.

The laser is pretty good for cutting down bug patrols if you know they're coming.
