Well, I think it's Chinese.

Friend of mine got this error, and isn't sure what the top-left characters mean. Assistance?

    Damn. I'd pretty much ruled out Japanese and Korean, and I'm ... usually ... pretty good at picking out which language something is from, even if I have no idea what it says ...

    It's Chinese, but I can't tell what the left one is with it being all bunched up, and I don't remember what the right one is. Definitely not Korean, it could possibly be Japanese, a lot of Chinese and Japanese characters are the same/similar.

    It's an encoding error and doesn't mean anything in Chinese (or any other language written with Chinese characters). Just ignore it.

    It is Chinese and it is gibberish. I can't for the life of me make out the first one but the one on the right is only used in classical Chinese as far as I can tell and has no translation.

    Classical/Ancient Chinese is cray though.

    It'd be like an error window that just had a couple of latin morphemes in the corner. Sure, they mean something on their own, but combined they don't actually make a real word.
