The more I read about FFXV the more I think it sounds nothing like any kind of FF I've ever played. Which can be a good thing!

I need to figure out my cord situation before I can hook up my PS4 and get in on this.

I'm not sure what to think about the game

The camera is awful, and the mechanics are weird. I don't understand how the instant kill system works. The lock on also feels real spotty playing as the ranged dude. I'm going to switch to melee if there is a lady ass kicker who isn't also a healer.

Scythe girl is pretty awesome. And if you don't like healer, just unequip the spell.

Yeah, I'm really digging Type 0. I just got to where I can leave Akadameieiaieia or whatever the hell it's called.

Now I'm just fighting around and leveling. This game plays to my basic love of grinding.

It was something in-game, somewhere in the start button I think. You can't set it before you start the game (but I assume it sticks during replays?).

I'm not at my ps4 now, but at the beginning and in-game I could only find voiceover language option and text language option. so you can get the in-game text to English, but I couldn't find a subtitle option at all anywhere.

Power. It's juuuuust too far to reach the strip so I need to shuffle plugs around a bit.

The PS4 uses a fairly standard power cable, you could probably just order a longer one.

Thinking of getting an extra one so I can charge my Gold headset at the same time, or an additional controller if needed.

Okay, booted the printer off and the PS4 is now in a more accessible place. I don't know why I didn't think of this two days ago when I pulled it out of the box.

Now all I need is a second monitor so I don't need to keep swapping between PC and PS4 on the screen.

Thoughts on the demo...

The good:
- I like the way things look, even if it mostly dwelt in a generic patch of wilderness, with all the really cool stuff way off in the background.
- Ramuh, holy crap!
- I dig the weapon assignment system, especially that it lets me tweak my attack structure in mid-battle.
- The characterization feels like it will be solid. Even with limited information, I got a very clear impression of the group dynamic, and it felt like something worth exploring further.
- What little I learned of the story sounds like the sort of thing I'll enjoy (before the traditional late-act Space Fleas Out of Nowhere, at least).
- The camping idea adds a fun flavor to gameplay. I'll probably like the idea even more once I have more direct control of my food supply.

The bad:
- There were a lot of places that seemed really dark, even with the brightness cranked up, and before the cave segment.
- Combat was way too busy. I almost never had a clear sense of what my bro squad was doing, what tells the enemy was displaying, or even how many enemies we were fighting at once.
- Speaking of the bro squad, I hope there are more costumes available for them. They all have fairly unique looks, but the unified all-black theme, plus the overall darkness, and the confusion of combat, meant they all kind of blurred together for me when they weren't standing still.
- Cindy's costume is still awful, and the way the camera moves around her is even worse. Her conversational jiujitsu when all the guys were trying to hit on her was pretty funny, though.

The ugly:
- I think it's criminally irresponsible on the part of whoever modeled their car that it doesn't even appear to have seat belts.

It bothers me that there's SO LITTLE hitstun on the one-handed swords. I spent more time chasing enemies and burning MP with warp attacks than I spent doing anything else in combat.

It makes abilities seem useless in chain combat and serving only as options to be used in enclosed spaces or in a predictive manner.

Got a bit of time in with Type-0. Definitely different from what I was expecting, and the combat seems like it's really easy to take heavy damage if not careful. Ace doesn't seem all that strong though for a MC, I found myself frequently switching to the lance user because he could reliably hit when the Killsigns popped up. The story is pretty good so far but oh man is it bloody and dark. I mean immediately after the opening mission

an Ultima Bomb gets dropped on a continent and wipes it out completely which came out of absolutely nowhere.

I'll keep playing tomorrow, though I think I'll need to take a crash course on some of the basic gameplay elements.

I love Ace's card system. Splitting the deck for a variety of outcomes is super neat. Also I'll never not love warping around. Thanks Type-0 and FFXV!

Yeah, I like Ace a lot too. I can't imagine ever playing a melee type in this tho, they're just too dang hard.
