I have suddenly found myself in need of a few custom magnets before april 23rd as part of a prank to a buddy.
The only place I can find that can get me such magnets on time are futureshop, but those are too small and circular. I am looking for something rectangular in the 5 inch or 4 inch square range.
All my searches on the internet seem to give me bulk options, and I only need 1 or 2, peferably different, and within the given time frame.
Any ideas?
I am going to try and phone a few photo places tommorow, but seeing as how I am in the middle of finals, it is gonna be hard to take much time
What are you going to use the magnets for? When you say custom magnets, do you mean that they must have a specific shape and size? If that is the case, I think you are out of luck with the time frame you are working with, having magnets made to order probably take some time. If it is rare-earth magnets you are looking for, a thing to keep in mind is that the size you mentioned are HUUUGE and not something to just play around with. Neodymium magnets of that size are dangerous and very easy to hurt yourself with. Not to mention that shipping them will probably be hard and expensive.
With that said, old harddrives are a nice source for magnets. Just pull them apart and remove the magnets for the voice-coil. Old speakers are a good source for larger ferrite magnets. The information on this page might be useful:
Check out you local stationary store. I have bought sheets of magnets in 8.5x11 that you can print on with a regular ink jet and then cut out. Did this a party favors for my daughters first birthday, all the relatives got a fridge magnet with daughters picture on it. The image quality turned out really good.
Ah Ha I found the sheetsI have. They are Avery so fairly common to find. the number is 03270. I beleive I bought mine in a London Drugs. I bet Staples would have something like this as well.
