I'm seeing a lot of Barbarians running IK6, Hexing Pants, BK weapons, and using Whirlwind. It's apparently "the best" build right now?
But I tried a GR 45 with it and got absolutely smashed. Mobs were oneshotting me, or coming damn near close. I couldn't kill Elite packs period. I don't understand how the fuck this build is supposed to work or how you're supposed to not die. Seems way too dangerous. I was even using the damage splitting rune with Call of the Ancients. I'm not sure what I'm missing cause it just doesn't seem to work.
Welp, back to my IK/Raekor/Boulder Toss build then.

I've been doing IK/Raekor on my barb while trying to get more Wastes set pieces and its super fun.
Did a GR46 with it, it's amazing being able to actually damage the RGs now.
Looking forward to getting back into this and working on making my meteor wizard. I really need a gift for my meteor staff though. It's sort of bad without one.
how do you work those boots into a wizard build? just use them with 5/6 tal's?
I managed to get two decently rolled bits of the time stop set, so hopefully before long I'll have 5/6 and I can play with it some. Want that new wizard hat, too
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet

Maybe I will play the season then, if it'll be that long. This last one was way too short to be worthwhile. Perhaps that logic is counterintuitive, but that's how I think about things

With the Nilfur Boots, Tal set, Focus+Restraint, Grand Vizier and group buffs my Wizard was dropping 8 billion Molten Impacts and Meteor Showers over 1 billion each on Rift Guardians.
Solo the damage is still multi billion and the showers do a minimum of 550k each.
I know Demon Hunters are better because Diablo 3 but at least I don't die as easily. And my DPS looks so much cooler.

After playing with the new Raiment of Storms/Dashing Strike build for about an hour last night, I feel there's something really great going on, but I haven't quite worked out all the pieces yet.
One major problem I noticed is that Spirit upkeep can be problematic. Not only do you burn through it quickly, but if you also burn through your Dashing Strike charges, you cannot use Spirit for Dashing Strike until you have regained a charge. This creates situations where I have more than enough Spirit to continue zipping about, but I am stalled because I am waiting for another charge to rotate.
We're still in the early stages of the build, so I'm mulling ways to mitigate this problem. Seems like there are a few solutions, though I'm not sure what's optimal.
- (Seasonal) Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac: gets you a new charge faster, reduces cooldowns of other Spirit-replenishers
- RCR: Raiment could be the monk set that most benefits from RCR. Spirit upkeep was never a problem with Sunwuko's because you could sub in a lot of pieces that would help manage resources (e.g., Incense Torch and Cindercoat). As a 6-piece set, there is a lot less room to maneuver with Raiment, and DS is 75 Spirit, so it ain't cheap. It may be best to optimize all possible pieces with RCR and seek out as many resource reduction options as possible
- RoRG + Leoric's Crown and Diamond/CDR: maybe serves as similar function as putting RCR on items, but provides more utility by making your other cooldowns pop faster.
- EP (Strong Spirit) + Gungdo Gear: A lot of potential resource replenishment from spreading, spirit-regenerating Exploding Palms.
It may be that some combination of these three are the best option. Cindercoat + Fire DS + RoRG and Obsidian Ring + Strong Spirit/Gungdo = a lot of Dashing Strike.
I don't have a full set of good Restraint/Focus so I haven't tested it. It may be that the damage boosts are worthwhile, but my inkling is that it would be much better to focus on maximizing your Dashing Strike uptime. There's other stuff to think about, like best gems and weapons, but I'm not quite there yet. Testing with an Ancient Furnace and BotT/BotP/Toxin was fine, but probably not optimal (Although Furnace may be the top weapon, not sure).
I'm also not sure if this build is Greater Rift capable. I'm sure some people did it on the PTR, but things are a little different now. I think when it's optimized it's going to be the top T6 speed run build. But, if T6 was easy in 2.1, well... it's that much moreso in 2.2. So I don't even know if that matters.
Rainments works well with that primary damage gem that gives you health on hit. Between that, epiphany, and sanctuary you have some good survival. I'm interested to see how we're going to do our builds - I'm going to focus more on IAS.
Also if you use crippling wave with the cold rune you can keep things locked down pretty good in grifts (assuming you build with IAS).
I like the idea of Strong Spirit + Gungdo. Am testing the new Inna's right now and then I'll play with SS EP for a bit and see if I like it. Like you, @GoodKingJayIII I ran into a ton of Spirit problems, and it makes the build feel slower than the generic Torch builds.

I haven't had a chance to farm up or gamble more Inna pieces, does the 6 piece bonus work well?
With patch 2.2 in full swing and season 3 on the horizon, I thought I'd take a look back at my goals for season 2 and see how I fared. The short season really didn't affect me too much, though I would have liked more time to try to clear GR 45.
Clear GR 40 without a Unity Success! I accomplished this pretty easily on my crusader thanks to a good rift and a beatable boss. I got wrecked trying a 41 though.
Clear GR 45 Fail. I cleared GR 44 easily but ran out of time to clear GR 45. I found my ancient BoP so late in the season that I did not have enough time to farm 45 trial keys. I only attempted GR 45 a total of 4 times and failed each time. I am sure I can clear it now that the season is over and I have enough time to farm a good rift.
Find an Ancient Blade of Prophecy Success! Seven days before the season ended, my seventh Blade of Prophecy of the season (and 12th since the 2.1.2 patch) finally rolled ancient. 4349 DPS, 1459 STR, 10% damage, 7% CDR, 16k Life after kill. A really nice set of rolls, though the 7% CDR puts a bit of a strain on my other gear slots.
Find a socketed Unity Fail. I only found 3 Unities the entire season and none of them rolled with a socket. This brings me to over 900 hours playing Reaper of Souls without finding a socketed Unity. For comparison, I found 10 Unities last season; again, 0 rolled with a socket.
Find a socketed Holy Stone of Jordan Fail. I found just a single SoJ the entire season, compared with 10 last season. It rolled with a socket, but with fire damage instead of holy. I rolled the fire into holy and used it in my condemn build. Kind of wishing I had saved it and rolled the STR into CHD for a fire raekor or shield bash build.
Find a good Furnace Success! My third Furnace of the season rolled with 3750 DPS, 45% elite damage, a natural 10% damage roll, and VIT, which I rolled into 10% CDR.
Find a good Witching Hour Success! I found a Witching Hour with STR, VIT, 7% IAS and a secondary resist. I rolled the CHD higher; it's currently sitting at 49%.
Level the 3 new gems to 25 Success! Pretty easy.
Find an ancient Belt of the Trove Success! I found the belt shortly after hitting 70 and used it for a long time until I got my akkhan set. Vigilante Belt is so much better for an Akkhan build though.
Find a complete Ancient Akkhan set Fail. I found shoulders, chest, pants and boots that all rolled well. I found ancient gloves that rolled poorly. I did not find an ancient helm.
Find a complete Ancient Roland set Fail. I found chest, gloves and a helm with 1000 STR and CC. I did not find ancient shoulders, pants or boots, even though I found 15+ pairs of boots.
Find all 5 immunity amulets Success! They all rolled poorly except for a Mara's Kaleidoscope that rolled with STR, CC and a socket. I rolled the VIT into CHD.
Find a Treasure Vault Success! I found one mid-way through the season. I've only ever found 2, one in season 1 and one in season 2.
I was having Spirit issues while testing out my ping-pong monk even with Cindercoat + RoRG with the fire rune on Dashing Strike. I don't think the spirit EP will be an option since you blow up most white mobs just by dashing into them to get into melee range. <_<
You can't use Cindercoat + Crudest Boots (for double Air Ally) because you need both (or either, if using RoRG) slots for the Raiment.
I ended up using Sweeping Wind: Inner Storm, Air Ally, and both regen passives (Exalted Soul and... that other one) to keep my spirit up, but it's still extremely easy to run out of spirit and burn through your DS charges.
I like seeing the huge numbers, and I like blowing up entire elite packs in a single shot, but I don't think I like the play-style enough to build a seasonal character around it.
Edit: I was also using Epihpany: Insight on cool-down, as well. 75 spirit per dash is a *lot*. =\

I wouldn't say that I ran into a ton of Spirit problems, for the most part I found the action really fast and satisfying. It's a style of monk gameplay I've wanted for a while and now it looks like it's here.
There were just moments where things stalled out and I had to wait a few seconds for a a DS charge. But I think this can be mitigated or eliminated with enough testing and refinement. I've already seen videos from the PTR of near-endless Dashing Strike. It's just a matter of translating that to live 2.2.
My season 2 was alright, but I never did find the SMK I had hoped to. I dreamed of finding a nice ancient one but alas I'm still left with only a dream and spend a few moments each time I login pretending the ancient SMK that @SkyAndPie looted is really mine.
I did find some halfway decent items for a variety of classes I played though. My zDPS WD is pretty well set now with a STR Solanium with a 4% secondary and 10% CDR, a STR Rechel's with 6% crit chance, 8% CDR and 55% secondary, a Xeph with socket, 7% IAS, 10% crit chance and 7% CDR, an 8 sec Tiki mask with INT, VIT and 6% crit and a nice ancient ToTD with 9% crit and 8% CDR. Also rounded out my Blackthorne's gear on him with all ancient pieces. I've been contemplating re-rolling the CDR on my SMK I found back in S1 to % damage to use it in a DPS build but it rolled pretty low on the damage end and it's nice to have for running zDPS in groups without globe hungry DH's to feed so I'll probably keep it as is for now - at least until the build gets nerfed.
Only made it through a 40 grift in S2 on my WD running Jade. I farmed plenty of low 40's keys to try and bump up my ranking a bit but really lost the drive to battle RNG looking for that perfect grift and ended up playing DH and Barb the rest of the season. Best item I found if I had to pick was probably my crossbow.
Goddammit, Blizzard. Was really looking forward to OP Barb shenanigans. Can't have too much fun with this game, though.
I was joking about the nerfs too. Can't be all that surprised anymore by panic nerfs. Blizz still treating Diablo as WoW. It doesn't even have pvp for fuck's sake!
I tried out the new Roland's. It's a huge step up over what I was using before. I'm just sad my Ancient Golden Flense still has the old, crappy roll of 4 wrath per hit. I really like On the Wings of Angels because it's +50% move speed for the party and you can keep it up basically all the time.
Profile -> Signature Settings -> Hide signatures always. Then you don't have to read this worthless text anymore.

yeah i slapped together a tals build on my wiz with those boots, focus + restraint, using an ancient sunkeeper / ancient firebird offhand (the only ancient offhand i have). i have a grand vizier but it isnt ancient.
i only did a couple solo t6 rifts just to test it out and yeah.... 500m+ hits with meteor shower. it is pretty damn powerful. i still need to figure out what the best skills to use with it are though. i ran electrocute/arcane magic missile/frost hydra/meteor shower. skipped out on an armor skill for teleport.

Eh. I think I'm gonna need the Daibo, which rolls +Mystic Ally damage. Without it, I'd rather run 4 pc Inna/4pc Sunwuko and Torch/Crudest.
I was thinking that I'd try to run 3 piece Sunwuko and 5 Inna (head, chest, belt, boots and pants) along with the RoRG so I could keep my Torch but lose out on two air allies with Crudest. The only way to fit the boots in would be to only run 2 Sunwuko which may be worth the gain, but I don't know. Once I get the Inna hands I guess it'll be worth a try.

I'm not sure. One was published a few days before the patch dropped, I'm not sure when they increased the cost of DS on the PTR.
Such a shame that Blizzard decided to make the 2 revamp shields for CRUSADER not roll CRUSADER only affixes.
Ivory Tower without 15% Fires of Heaven damage, 8% CDR, or RCR
Denial without 15% Sweep Attack damage, 8% CDR, or RCR
They don't even give us one additional affix, it's just the standard 4 (primary, % block, vit, cc, and junk stat).
This was actually brought up by Deadset during the 2.2 Tavern Talk, asking why Denial can't roll CDR/Skill Damage/RCR. The answer was "you're right that's weird, we'll look into that"
Also I'm still mulling in my head if IK6/FC4 is better than FC5/IK4.
With the former, you lose Vile Ward and the 3000% weapon damage DoT. But you gain permanent 100% damage boost, so you're doing double damage all damn day.
With the latter, it's the opposite. You lose perma-100% damage boost, but retain Vile Ward and 3000% weapon damage DoT.
Both have perma-CotA and perma-WotB, and both use the same skill setup.
I've been rocking IK6/FC4, and it seems fine so far. I cleared a GR44 with ease yesterday. The 100% damage boost makes up for the loss of Vile Ward and the 3000% DoT, I think. I imagine that FC5/IK4 probably has better AoE, but worse ST? And IK6/FC4 is probably the opposite. My Boulder Tosses were critting for upwards of 550mil, which is pretty nuts.
Is there a good guide to the (new) Tal Rasha set somewhere? I'm a bit confused on what procs what - I mean, summoning a hydra seems to proc the arcane skill +damage bonus at least, but the meteors proc from hydra's attack, not from summoning it. Mirror Images don't seem to proc anything, though it is hard to be sure with the visual chaos that ensues when you have 4 of them up. Can Familiar proc anything? And so on and on.

I'm not sure. One was published a few days before the patch dropped, I'm not sure when they increased the cost of DS on the PTR.

This was actually brought up by Deadset during the 2.2 Tavern Talk, asking why Denial can't roll CDR/Skill Damage/RCR. The answer was "you're right that's weird, we'll look into that"
And then nothing happened. WELP.
