Aliens question - I'm pretty terrible at games like Resident Evil where my bad aim and limited ammo means I'm pretty well screwed within the first 20 minutes of gameplay. How stingy is Aliens and is there a forgiving easy mode of any kind?
If you mean Alien: Isolation, it's not a shooter despite being first-person. Guns are more often than not a bad idea, or at best a last resort. And yes, ammo is scarce, but you'll use it so rarely it's not a big issue. There is (as series tradition dictates) a flamethrower, though, which is a) handy and b) doesn't really need careful aim. It does burn fuel very quickly, though.
Pretty much everything can be avoided rather than fought, and that's usually the better way to go.
Looks like Akiba's Strip and Ys The Ark of Napishtim are hitting Steam soon. Press release should be coming shortly. Appears Akiba's will be the PS4 version and Ys will have some new features like warping through checkpoints and a "hardcore" mode that doesn't allow you to store healing items (they get used on pickup).
Akiba's is notable being their first Steam foray that isn't a game that was already natively on PC in some way.
YEEEEESSSSS!
I fucking love Akiba's trip, and cannot wait to throw this stupid goddamn game at everybody I know.
I just watched a trailer for it. That looks awful. And like something I'd find endlessly entertaining.
The name and Heenato's...tastes is causing me to side-eye a little bit without knowing or seeing anything else.

Good news! I had tons of revolver ammo by the end of the game, because anything I'd have shot with it would either have barely been phased, or would have drawn the attention of an unstoppable killing machine.
They did add a Nightmare and Novice difficulty to the game I believe too. But the difficulty of the game isn't really based on aim though.

I was more thinking that many games on Novice get more generous with ammo...but it sounds like a non-issue on this one. I think the better question becomes if I'll be able to play it more than my Nope stops on Outcast or Amnesia (both of which I really should try to force myself to record myself playing, because I'm a complete chickenshit).

You will always be very short on ammo, but running and hiding is the preferred option anyway.

Novice in A:I does give you more resources, of which ammo is just one. You'll find assorted stuff lying around for the game's crafting system, where you can build all sorts of helpful doohickeys.
The game does bring a lot of Nope to the party, but it's a delicious and wonderful kind of Nope.

FTFY. Running isn't usually a good idea either... it'll hear you...

As well you should, but I'm fine with tacky in the Japanese fashion.

Having played both Amnesia (which I found really creepy) and Outlast (lost its spooks for me after a short while) I found Alien very very tense.
Not even just the alien itself because ok fine, either you're gonna see me as you come around this corner or you're not. What's stressful is please don't kill me because the last time I saved was really far back oh god.
That plus the music. The mother fucking music. The screen could be showing rainbows and puppy dogs and that music would still have me paranoid something was about to jump out and stab me to death. https://youtu.be/CeunRV9LE90?t=17m30s

The game is exactly what it sounds. However, it is also absolutely ridiculous and stupid, and IT KNOWS THIS.
you literally start suplexing the clothing off of vampires! This is a thing that happens and it is wonderful
Man I'm really starting to hate the Unity engine. It's like with UE3, I get why devs use it, but man is it annoying that like every game in the engine has that unmistakeable Unity hitching every once in a while. Particularly noticeable when panning the camera in Pillars of Eternity sometimes.
Congratulations to me on finally finishing Deus Ex: HR.
I played the whole game hacking/stealth and I loved how much power I had over the lives of those poor little soldiers. I barely even looked at a boss. I kept my kill count low. And the final encounter lasted all of 4 seconds thanks to a successful persuasion earlier. The gameplay was GREAT. I loved that I could actually play however I wanted.
Missing Link was AWFUL in some of its execution.
Also that ending was just terrible. It doesn't negate the overall quality of the game, but boy howdy what a mess.
Ending spoilers for a game released in 2011:
All the power over the media in the world at my fingertips, and Jensen can't kind combine two of those? WHy does all science have to be bad? Why can't I do some science, some regulation? WHy can't I tell people the truth in a way that will make them understand? Why am I pushing one of 4 fucking buttons are you kidding me?
Also, hour after hour of Jensen longing to find Megan and she runs off never to return. No epilogue? No Stinger? Man...game really needed to give me some more emotional closure than a Metal Gear newsreel cut.
Anyway next up is...I don't know! Here are my candidates:
*Shadow of Mordor - I just bought this so there are older games I should probably play first but man oh man i hear it's good
Batman: Arkham Origins -Got this on the cheap and heard it is OK
*Brutal legend - Gotta give this a real chance.
Gemini Rue - Started this...but am I all Blade Runnered out right now?
**Gone Home - Stupidly haven't played this yet
Gunpoint
LOOM - I want cred
METRO Last Light - I might wait for a copy of REDUX...
Sleeping Dogs: DE
KOTOR II
Super Time Force ULTRA
The Swapper
**Tomb Raider
**Transistor
@Elbasunu I'm going to vote for LOOM. It is a fun adventure game from my youth and while it is certainly steeped in nostalgia it is a great game in its own right.
It is also a fairly short though like any adventure game the main length comes from figuring out the various puzzles. For me, the real sticking point for this game was the Book of Patterns. The various patterns (spells) you would weave were almost all randomly generated except for the first and last. You would discover them in game and then scribble them in the book with some interesting art and anecdotes.
Between last week and this, work and my immune system have been on fire! It's really had me a bit bummed because it cut down on my game time, but @Berylline just fired things up in an awesome way throwing another DLC on the barby for me!!! Thanks for the brand new as of today BBQ Pack for Payday2!!!
Grabbed the Bundle Stars All-Star bundle earlier when they released more keys. Have a couple left over.
Unfortunately you can only really do 1 code per post unless you have 4 codes for the same game.
Ah, was that the issue? Thanks!

Welp, beat Prototype 2. The more I went along, the more fun it was. Once you get a few of the powers lined up it turns in to a freaking circus of death. And what I really liked was that, unlike some games that encourage you to use one or two powers, each power did some sort of "more damage" or "more effective" effect on the monsters. Blocking wasn't part of the powers section anymore, which was great, the hunting down of targets via semi-sonar was cool, and just overall from look to style to mechanics, the game felt more polished than the first. And the last boss fight was honestly pretty gloriously fun.
Now, I can move on to Saint's Row 4. But not right now. Now is time for rest.

@Pixelated Pixie I stumbled across a fighting game where you can literally create the pinkest prettiest princess, who just so happens to also be technically a slime girl. Because I know how much you loved that in Gender Bender :P

Character creation: too many choices. Cannot process. Head asplode.
Setting game aside until weekend when I can more wakefully examine the options!
But... character creation is amazing.
I'm like 1-2 hours in and it's amazing so far. Started with my usual first: Human Barbarian.
Why'd she rush?

The game itself looks rage inducing though, according to one let's play I've been following. Also, the clothing options are horrible.

Most notable is the upgrade prices:
1. Own the game: 30 bucks.
2. Own the game plus DLC: 20 bucks.
50 bucks on its' own. Should be official press release or something soon.
Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
Expectedly scummy.
