i had another w. fata guy in a room with me last night. legit or hacker he failed to break the unbroken run of terrible these guys have by dying to G2 seregios with 800+ armour
20.00 EST is about 01.00 for me, if you're ever on at 17.00 look me up!
Towards the end there I got a pretty great charm. +10 expert 1 slot which allows me to pretty much make the set I want unless I get some crazy charm or relic weapon.
Now I just need a weapon other than the Para sns to use.
I got some interesting SnS/DB relics last night. The best for me was a poison Ritual Ephemerons with +5 Status Resist. That opens up all kinds of possibilities...
EDIT: Also, does anyone have a Savagr Jho GQ? Asking for a (apparently deeply masochistic) friend.
I have Diablos, Teostra(I have two of these one is a lance/gl but I might dump it), Brachydios, Seregios, Chemeleos, Rajang (thanks to @Vyolynce) and a few others that aren't as good.
I don't have the super right hand rajang or anything yet.
The Chemeleos is at level 127 and is starting to produce usable equipment.

There are no Savage Jho quests. Only way to fight him G rank right now is on expeditions. Get to rare 5 then he shows up very regularly. Also if you are looking for specific monsters in guild quests, here is a good link:

So now I've managed to handle a Zamtrios or whatever the shark / blob guy was, and just check a couple of things:
- The solution to bounce issues is some combination of higher-level sharpness, more relative damage for the weapon type I'm using, or just plain hitting the right parts of monsters?
- Can you actually use the icicles to jump into the elevated cave in the ice map's zone 5?
- Is it worth the bother to craft cold / snow resistance armors?
-Bouncing can only be solved by higher sharpness or the mind's eye armor skill. Damage doesn't factor in unless you can break the part.
-Yes, you can jump from the icicles.
- cold resistance will save you the hot drink but you generally need 2 at most and the main box always has 2 to start so I wouldn't say it's needed but if you can get it for free or low cost in terms of slot useage, go for it.

Bouncing is simply a comparison of hitbox * sharpness mod against some constant value. So hit a better spot or get better sharpness. Or use Mind's Eye or attacks that can't bounce.
Even then, anywhere that bounces you is not taking much damage anyways.

1) Yes regarding the sharpness level and the part being hit. However, some weapons naturally have the mind's eye skill, which prevents bouncing on all monsters other than apex. The 2 off the top of my head are the sword mode for switch axe and the hunting horn (because of the self improvement song you can play).
3)It is pretty easy to gem in if you need it so I'd say stick with whatever you are wearing and if it is too much of a nuisance try gemming in the resistance. You'll get used to avoiding these types of attacks eventually and most can be added to armor without using too many slots.
Really worth noting the whole different hit zones are different levels of toughness thing. Not only will it save you from bouncing to switch hit zone but it'll also help tell you which bit of the monster takes more damage as usually the weak spots are less armoured.

Yeah, I've been getting the hang of it with the Hammer. Greatsword's so big that the placement's different and I've had less luck adjusting from flailing wildly with charge attacks to aiming better. Pretty sure I missed Zamtrios by about an inch a couple times.
Been practicing against Rajang on its solo caravan quest whenever it's available and I'm still getting carted at least once every time. And I haven't been able to break any horns or even the fabled tail that gets rid of its rage mode. It barely stays down long when you manage to actually get it to fall over.

When he's enraged he'll stay in a pitfall trap forever. When i was farming for the Gold Gorer I would take a pitfall, trap tools and nets along with bombs and bomb mats.
Then just break the horns and subquest out until you get what you need.

Well crap I wrote off pitfalls when the jerk actually destroyed the one I placed when trying to capture it non-raged and asleep. What a curveball this game throws at you.
Finally made enough Rank 10 weapons to make my guild card look like this:
Also, according to my quest log the final one we ran last night was my 1000th completed quest. Weapon usage page suggests I've actually gone on 1104*, so I'll take the 90% success rate.
*This math is easy when 1091 of them were done using Duals. :P

Grats, I was going to try to complete the whole thing until I read about the arena one. The "set number of arena quests" at S rank is apparently all 16 of the base ones in the game. So far only S rank is the double gravios.
Yeah most of my vacant ones are arena-related, and they can stay vacant. I'm not about to go chasing crowns either.
I'd like to get it up to 90% completion though. Making more R10 weapons should help there. I think completing the Monster Hunter! quest might finish off a few too ("All G3" if nothing else, maybe one or two more). The ones for lots of gems/mantles/rustshards/ancientshards should come in time, although it would be nice if I knew which ones I was missing. Finally got my first Stygian Umbrage a couple weeks ago but apparently I'm missing more gems; I know Gore Mantle is on the list too.
So, are they planning to make the inventory less... terrible to browse and use in MHX?
I think at this point the fuss of doing all the stuff there is my biggest problem.
What's your particular beef with it? Especially if you have some examples of other heavily item based games to compare it to since I can't think of any that do it better when using a controller rather than keyboard/mouse.
I do think adding filters, and lots of them, would be helpful for trimming search times. Having to track down exactly what piece of armor a decoration is in when you know you've made that decoration before is annoying, and filtering armor by ones with any decoration in them and/or ones with particular skill decorations in them would be nice. More ways to filter talismans/charms by particular skills rather than just four or so ways to sort them would be nice too. Filtering the item box in a similar way would be nice, but I rarely need specific parts that aren't at the very beginning or end. Filters don't really change the inventory, just speed up specific searches, so that may or may not be enough.
I actually think it's a pretty good system, overall, when looking at other heavily item based games you use a controller on. I didn't have issues with D3 console inventory, other than a lack of stash space like on the PC, but think MH's inventory is much faster and easier to navigate than D3's. I don't think Dark Souls or Skyrim did it any better either when using controllers to play them.

I think the biggest thing is that if you're going to have icons be identical for alot of stuff you need to have a way to separate them effectively.
In the case of Monster Hunter I actually think the best option would be an inventory that was sorted into vaguely:
Consumables, Crafting mats, monster parts sorted by monster. With a seperated section rather than one big page that blurs together and takes a ton of movements to reach the one tile you want.
For equipment I'd definitely like them to just let me sort it by which monster it's from. I also think it'd be great for the completionist angle because you'd be able to look at the zinogre inventory and notice you have all of it but one weapon or whatever.
