I think Bayonetta is still too niche for many reviewers to make that comparison.
I'm foreseeing more comparisons to the souls games, and maybe God of war.
My hot take is reviewers claiming that most of the unlockable moves and abilities serve no real purpose. I saw some reviews claim the same for spider-man and God of war, but I play every action game like it has a style meter, so I used pretty much every move in those games.
That's a problem with the reviewers, not with Surrealitycheck.
If this comment is directed at me, I'm confused because that's not what I was implying.
Honestly it's not even a problem. People just play games differently. But playing games efficiently instead of screwing around and playing with mechanics is something I see a lot in streams and such and it bums me out.
Like I'm sure there's people who played God of war by just throwing the axe at everything. It's a legitimate way to play the game but there's so many other fun things to do.
I have a friend who played re4 and when he was in the second act I asked him if he was suplexing everything, and he was like nah, I have enough bullets I just shoot everything it's faster. :bigfrown:
All the coverage I've seen is universally positive, apart from one 6/10 review that reads like it was written as satire based on that review bingo card.
There was a steam sig here. It's gone now.

That's cool, I mean I was gonna get it anyway but I was wondering how people would receive an older school style of action game.
Also...man Capcom has been killing it lately. That Monster Hunter money really helped it seems.
I've got a case of Monster Energy Zero Ultra in the fridge and the pizza place's number on speed dial. I just need this game to unlock and I'm going to embark on a journey of hype and heart failure.
EDIT: DMC 5 has jumped from three or four on Steam's top sellers to #1.
God my hype levels has been at max since Friday. Played a bunch of dmc4se last night as Vergil. I honestly think I like Vergil's Beowulf more than any other gauntlets in the series (until I use Balrog). Starfall is super sick and his shoryuken actually has range. I suck with his teleports and concentration system though.
I also forced myself to delete the dmc5 demo or I would just be playing it all the time. I had like 300k red orbs at the end.
Devil May Cry as a series has a better hit rate than most franchises.
Capcom had kind of been floundering for awhile though. Their regular franchises were luke-warm, and their more consistent ones hadn't seem a worthwhile release in a long time.
They turned a corner in 2017 though and don't appear to have let up on the gas since.

DmC was an amazing game in its own right with one of the most interesting uses of color I've seen in a big budget game maybe ever. It was just in the wrong series for people to ever like it.

DmC was a bad game made into a good game (that still wasn't on the level of DMC 3 & 4, but I'd put it above DMC1) by the Definitive Edition. It looked gorgeous, but it played really badly until the fixes that edition made.
Also that "Dante is not/Dante is" slideshow is a crime that Ninja Theory should never ever get to live down.

Honestly, I think DmC wouldn't have been received half as bad if one of the lead devs wasn't be a goose about how lame classic Dante is.
That said some of the gameplay decisions were annoying at the time, and honestly I don't think the script would fly in 2019, but I did really like the setpieces.
Also...man if Capcom made a new Breath of Fire they'd return to my top 5 favorite devs.

It still bugs the absolute shit out of me that the definitive edition never came to PC.

The silver lining to that is not/is slideshow is that Tameem and his gang basically called Dante a gay cowboy like it was a bad thing and now we've got Dante wielding a cowboy hat in retaliation to that and it's amazing.
So if I preorder from Green Man Gaming or Fanatical, the money still goes to the publisher right? I want to get the best deal, but I also want Capcom to make money off of this.
Just because this has got me looking at getting all the old games again; is all this DLC for 4 stuff you can just unlock in the game? (apart from the bonus orbs and stuff, obviously).
So assuming I'm willing to spend the time on it, I don't need to spend actual money to get those extra modes/costume?

The costumes are actual DLC. Everything else is unlockable in the game.
I saw this mentioned elsewhere, but are you going to the movies tonight? or are you staying home and playing Devil May Cry? It's Marvel vs Capcom.
Boooooo.

Also you should totally get those alt costumes for Lady and Trish because Lady's default costume in DMC4 is straight garbo and in a sane world would restrict her Style meter to empty at all times.
Oh brilliant

i liked DmC post-patches substantially more than dmc4, which always felt disgustingly weightless to me. the more i played dmc4 the more i hated it - meaningless mechanical fiddle with no systemic elegance at all
Playing DmC right now, because I bought it on a Steam sale a few years back. I dislike the "hold shoulder button to switch weapons" concept, my fingers just dont want to operate that way with my 360 controller.
Bummed to hear that in 5 you have to use Nero for so many missions, I never got into 4 because of that. After you beat it do they let you play through missions as different characters? I assume so, or else it seems like Lady/Trish wouldn't be playable based on that mission list above. That would for sure bump 5 up on my purchase list.
Watching early DMC5 streams because I'm weak and oh my god you can get an extra jump by taunting in midair.
There have to be secrets that rely on that to reach them.

But I just have to ask you guys the most important of questions. Had anyone found the sickest DMC desktop background yet?? What about android themes?!

90 from PC Gamer too You know a publisher is feeling super fucking sure of themselves when they send Jim Sterling an early review copy of their game.
