iPhone 5S - cannot reset (frozen at a white screen with progress bar)
Thread title says it all. Trying to give this phone to my dad as a gift, today, and I don't have access to my computer right now. Did one soft reset (home + power) and it goes back to the same frozen screen. It's getting hot so it's trying to do something but no progress in like an hour.
If you have the right screwdriver and some confidence/experience, unplugging the battery might solve that issue for you as well. I know many people aren't equipped to get into those phones but I have fixed countless issues with iPhones by simply unplugging the battery for a few seconds. A little more in depth info on recovery mode. Plug the phone into iTunes. See if you can turn it off. If not try this anyway. Hold the power and home buttons down at the same time. After about ten seconds, release the power button while continuing to hold the home button down. Your screen should be blank but you should hear the computer make a noise and iTunes should pop up a message about the phone being in recovery mode. Restore from there. Good luck.

At first, it didn't want to comply with my demands.
Anyway, thanks all!
