That shot of Widow sliding under the truck was... not great.

    Is this still not confirmed?

Cause another MCU director openly talking about it makes it seem pretty confirmed

No it was confirmed earlier today by Marvel

I never read any OPs except my own, which I read at least 10 times while also holding up a mirror to stare at myself in while I read them

I am a wee bit excited

I was thinking the same about Cap's kick on top of that truck

Why can't they ever make Cap's kicks not look like shit?

The kick to Ultron on top of the truck

It looks fake and shitty and CG

Just like the roundhouse kick in the long shot in Avengers 1

You're right, I should amend this to say "Why can't they ever make Cap's kicks not look like shit in Avengers films" because all of his moves looked great in Winter Soldier

The roundhouse kick where he kicks his shield into Ultron?

That super cool looking kick? That's the one you're talking about?

  • UnbreakableVowUnbreakableVow Registered User regular
    That's the one

Minus the "super cool looking" descriptor

Both seemed completely fine to me?

What's the problem with Widow sliding under the truck?

Yeah, I thought both of those shots were pretty great. Maybe the slow-motion effect on the bike slide is making it look weird to some?

  • SolarSolar Registered User regular
Cap kicked guys like a fucking champ in Winter Soldier

but Winter Soldier has some of the best action choreography of any western-made cinema ever so

Also I heard on the grapevine, so to speak, that Fraction and Aja had a falling out, Fraction basically dumped the book and Aja is taking ages because he is having to write it at the same time but doesn't really know writing very well and wants to get it perfect

  • Bluedude152Bluedude152 Registered User regular
    I could see it

Fraction went from posting all the time about hawkeye fans to never mentioning it rather quickly

Yeah, I'd been wondering if something like that had happened.

Matt Fraction said he finished writing Hawkeye #22 sometime late last year

  • Grey GhostGrey Ghost Registered User regular
I could have sworn Fraction had said he'd turned in a script for the final issue

  • Bluedude152Bluedude152 Registered User regular
I dont think he didnt write it all

I absolutely believe he is tired of hearing about that book

    p0a2ody6sqnt.jpg
  • SolarSolar Registered User regular
    Well I just heard it

from a few sources around and about, on the internet and also in real life

I know a guy who does a comics blog and he is big in his comics news and he said he heard it to

so it could be total bullshitt

but like I said that is what I heard and it would explain a lot

they were supposed to be working on another project together too, and that fell through because of the same fracas

  • Mr. GMr. G Registered User regular
I'd think he's tired of getting blamed for shit that ain't his fault

I can't imagine he'd ever get tired of people raving about Kate Bishop or Pizza Dog

UV, did you replay that split-second footage of a kick over and over again?

Because it looks perfectly fine to me, and I honestly assumed that only the shield and Ultron were CG in that shot.

I do agree the jumping kick in the first Avengers was not great, though.

So the final trade of Azzarello and Chiang's Wonder Woman dropped today and I binged the whole run after stopping shortly after the first First Born arc

    Man what a great book

It isn't perfect, it has some pacing issues and Azzarello kept cramming in really bad puns for some reason that detracted from the really grandiose, dark story he was telling.

But man it wasn't like anything else from either Marvel or DC outside of maybe the first arc of God of Thunder. Just an amazing, horrifying, awesome story with one of the best supporting casts in ages.

Also The First Born is legitimately the creepiest villain I have seen in years. Motherfucker is unsettling.

I am super impressed Azzarello and Chiang were able to make a villain who is obsessed with killing everyone, including the gods, and was so evil he was wiped from human history after conquering the world and has a whole motif of disgusting blood and guts and raw muscles and sinew and have it not only not be the most eye-rollingly adolescent God of War style bullshit but super super effective and horrifying and gross in a very Greek Myth fashion.

Black Widow, I assume, I had to load the URL manually to cache it before it would show in-line. And was disappointed/relieved when it wasn't just a picture of an actual black widow spider.
