I can no longer listen to Me and a Gun. I just can't. I die a little every time.

It was a song that triggered me. https://youtu.be/_iXqCvkW1pg
During the war I was an aircraft loadmaster. I got shot at maybe once, a few in flight incidents that may have caused their own trauma. Nothing too serious. I was never in a firefight or anything like that.

The horror for me came from watching 73 rowdy kids climb off the plane once we got to Kuwait and 73 dead, hollow eyed ghosts climb back on. Over and over again, throughout the entire war.

Guilt. I delivered those kids personally to that meat grinder.

    I gotta stop here.

There's only one way to distribute mix tapes: you record them on cassette tape and slide it into the vent in the girls locker. Then when she doesn't fall for you, you play the exact same collection of songs on a boom box outside her window. You know you're successful when her dad sprays you with the garden hose.

Well what I thought was that a mixer would put a bunch of MP3s on a disc and mail the disc to their mixee(?). Or at worst make a zip of MP3s. Posting a bunch of links strikes me as kind of, well, impersonal. Also I have some pretty rare/hard to find stuff that I don't think I could easily find youtube links to.

It's a reference to every single movie or tv show with a boy and a girl in it. It's fucked up because it's so pervasive in every level of media and yet totally seems the message "when a girl says no it means to try harder"

    Yeah I know

Once in high school my sister's boyfriend broke up with her and so she sat in front of his house for four hours just watching it waiting for him to come out. His parents came out eventually and told her they wouldn't call the police and file a restraining order if she went home without a fuss right now.

When she got home she checked herself into a psych ward.

Yeah breakups fucking suck. The reason they hurt so bad is because those endorphins and shit are leaving your system. You are literally having withdrawal pains.

It means a bunch of things. That women are discouraged from being assertive. That we're encouraged to think that men's feelings are more important than our own, and to avoid bruising egos directly at all costs. That women are taught to fear men's anger, because they may hurt or kill us, and it will be presented as being our fault, for not being 'nicer'.
