It can also be boring to do a mission when inside a near indestructible car.

I disagree, I do all missions in my Armored Kuruma and have a ton of fun, and so does everyone else along for the ride. Never had anyone complain that it wasn't fun. :P

When an armored Kuruma enters the scene, I get up and make some tea...because if I can't throw explosives out the window (or fly and watch the pretty explosions), I'm pretty much bored out of my skull.
I always break out the AK when playing with pubbies. If there are WANGers around, I'm happy to drive the Sultan.

It's admittedly frustrating to have someone on keyboard controls rush off to be the driver

Keyboard control driving is the best driving, though. Much easier to make fine adjustments to steering.

Controllers win on flying, definitely, but keyboard driving is awesome. No comparison.

I disagree with making it easier to make adjustments to steering. It's not like you can't do that on a controller by altering the angle you're pushing the control stick in. Plus having much more control over how much you're pressing down on the accelerator or brakes. I played these kinds of games with keyboard only until maybe a year ago and still sometimes do keyboard driving, especially if I need to shoot things, and definitely feel much worse behind the wheel with the keyboard.

I think controls boil down to what you are most comfortable with. I do my best driving and on foot shenanigans behind KBaM, but flying is exclusively the domain of the controller for me.

I sat down to play Destiny on the PS4 today, and wondered how the heck I got along for so long only playing on consoles. Aiming is so counter-intuitive for me on a controller. Time to play more PC GTA and possibly grab one of those KBaM input converters for the PS4.

Anyone up for running through dailies or heists, I'll be on the PC side here at 2am EST. Hit me up on "nackma" online.

That still doesn't explain me because I'm generally far more comfortable with KBaM than I am with a controller. I drop the controller in my lap whenever I leave a vehicle to do anything of import still.

I think I may have just really quickly latched onto all the options having fine control over how much power is going into the accelerator. And cars involved may also factor into it since different cars put that power to different wheel sets.

Heh...for me, if pubbies are around and they're all still alive, I'll happily hop in my Valkyrie and ask everybody to pile on in. If, however, they've rushed on ahead, and half of them are red stains on the pavement, I'll call up a Hydra and rake the AO with cannon fire. About the only time I'll show restraint is on kill and recovery missions (jobs like High Priority Case, for example...but, even then, I'll explodify everybody except for the dude carrying the object we're supposed to recover).

Now, if WANGers are on the team, I'll at least have the courtesy to ask if they want to cheese the mish or actually work for the win.

As someone who is saving for the hydra, is it oh so very satisfying to summon into a public server and go bounty/red blip hunting?

I wouldn't know. I stay far, far away from public servers. However, I can only imagine that ragdolling people by hitting them repeatedly with missiles would be quite satisfying. The only thing to bear in mind is that all of the Heist armed air vehicles are incredibly fragile. I've had the Hydra start sputtering out from nothing but small-arms fire (pistols and SMGs) coming from a couple of SUVs during random jobs.

Yea, I meant to include a "for me" in my statement. My friends and I would play a difficulty beyond hard if there was one. When we want to fuck around we usually use something stronger than a Kuruma, like a valkyrie or insurgent.

From what I've seen of rockets (the homing ones, at least) is that they are horrible at tracking moving targets. Still, even if you do make the hit, that $750 rocket just cost the pilot $200...so I'm not sure who's going to get ahead with that transaction.

Huh...every time I try to shoot down an NPC flown helicopter, if it's so much as making a leisurely stroll lateral to me (or even moving straight at me), my missiles fail to connect each and every time. The only time I can get a hit is if they are sitting stationary when I launch. And that includes when I'm trying to angle my shots (I wish there were SRAWs in GTA5).

You gotta know where to lead based on their trajectory. You can hit helicopters that pull behind buildings if you lead them correctly. I've done it, and been victim to it.

Yeah but you have to hoof your butt back over to an airfield to get it again. I win mearly by stopping them from having fun in order to go put in effort to get another :)

That said, yeah the money is silly, because if it were a car which is much more harassing, it would have been the amounts above. I hope rockstar has a frank discussion about the give and take of the personal car blow up interaction.

All that said, I kind of want to get the valk gunship still.

I am severely disappointed that masks do not automatically get worn when you start a contact mission. I spent a good hour figuring out the best clothing choices to mimic the main character from Hotline Miami too.

Ran into a fun hacker last night. After my crew blew up his vehicles and killed him a dozen times, he got pissed off and triggered some sort of hack where everyone on the server died continuously:

It's kind of funny how inept Rockstar has shown themselves to be at preventing exploits.

Cheats and hacks definitely happen in all multiplayer games, but the frequency of encountering them stays fairly low because most developers are really active about detecting the cheats and banning the users. They also put a lot more security into the software itself to slow down the development of cheats.

Rockstart seems to have a policy "eh fuck it, it's part of the game, we'll get to it when we get to it."

If they try to put in better, more strict safeguards then the outcry is "draconian measures that treat all users like criminals/hackers/etc" though.

It's a hard balance to maintain.

edit: my favorite logic leap being "In a game where I play a criminal I'm not allowed to do <blatant hacking activity here>, what gives?"

It's tough because it seems like online and offline share code. In which case, how do you allow sp mods without banning mp hacks?

I know GTA isn't Source, but Valve games do it with the sv_cheats and sv_pure settings. Clients have to adhere to whatever the server has set which works really nicely for allowing whatever dumb mods you want when you're in your own sandbox but as soon as you join a multiplayer game all that goes away.

So I did all the hiests/setups in a row, didnt get credit for it, and didnt get the bonus 1m GTA$. I was really angry after a lengthy attempt at that finale with a full restart or two. So I put a ticket in and got a response this morning, they gave me 3million GTA$!

woot gunship here I come! Everyone come jump on the wrexspress!

I'd love to see a random mission where we all spawn our own Savage gunships. A full wing of Hinds cresting a hill to rain down explosive cannon fire and rapid fire rockets just seems magical to me.

Nah. After running some heists with different crewmembers, it looks like we have enough people decent enough with helicopters that we could get at least four Hinds running around.

Also downer! So I was talking to you for like 10 minutes before I realised my mic was off. Trust me, it was a good conversation on treatise on the nature of unchecked aggression and unprovoked attacks.

(I dont know why canadianman was shooting out your tires, I thought you started it and he was screwing around so I blew you up. then all hell broke lose) Here's a rough translation

"Bro. bro bro wait. bro bro bro"
    downer shoots at DNC
"bro were even bro were just messing around bro. bro"
    downer pulls out baseball bat
"bro no need for a bat bro BRO stop swinging-"
    downer bat's DNC
"bro nah its cool bro. bro::laughing::"
::continues for another 5 minutes between downer, DNC and CM::

Oh it would be great with crew members. But any mission has to also be run with pickups from time to time.

Related to that, I'm annoyed that a mission that requires a helicopter can apparently come up when no players have a helicopter they can call in. I suspect that's why that mission has like a 60% rating.

High Priority Case...yeah. Apparently you should be able to call in Merryweather for a helicopter taxi, shoot the pilot, steal the helicopter, and fly off into the sunset on that one. But, even after you can call in an armed helicopter, you need to be careful where you shoot. If you start shooting your missiles at everything that moves, you run the risk of destroying the briefcase you're supposed to recover.

Can you buy a Cargobob in GTAO?

    That's a negative, Ghostrider.

They spawn plentifully enough, though. Between LSIA, Sandy Shores Airfield, the Merryweather docks, and the trafficker's airstrip up north, there are plenty of Cargobobs to go around.

EDIT - although, if you're wanting to Cargobob airlift a car and drop it on dudes during a mission...then yeah, you're SOL.

Yeah, I was trying to orchestrate a Cargobob pickup of Simeon's high priority car, and couldn't make the timing work. Would have been easier if you could call one in.

One thing I've found (with the help of testsubject23), Cargobobs are pretty handy for dealing with Simeon's list of cars he wants to export. Driver finds car Simeon wants, Driver gets in car and gets instant 2-star wanted level, Pilot flies to Driver and lifts car above police eye-level (because we all know police are like dogs and can't look up), wanted level goes away, Pilot carries Driver and car to Pay'n'Spray for respray, Driver and car get airlifted to the docks...profit!

Too bad the Simeon car-gathering / LSC car-selling activities have such long cooldowns, or a couple of industrious players could make a killing. :)

Cargobobs are also good for stealing player vehicles... some very interesting implications there.

Oh yeah, and watercraft... Speaking of, @Ken O , how goes the quest to boat down the Tongva Valley?
