Also, Demonlock takes a lot of Warlock cards but both Handlock and Zoo don't usually have that many.
Edit: Not that Handlock is at all a new player deck, needing several epics and a legendary card to work.

I AM A TUURTTLLLEEEE
I did it after 50 tries with a Rogue deck. You basically have to keep a Youthful Brewmaster in your opener and get Ragnaros to gift you the 0 mana 6/3 guy that does 6 damage Battlecry. Play it, return it to your hand and keep it there, then at some point play it, Gang Up on it, and then return it to your hand again. Play a bunch of removal, healbot 5000, blue gill seers, earthen ring farseer, sap and vanish and you should be able to do it after a zillion tries.
still can't get cromaggus though.
This was a good tip
Only took one or two zillion attempts
This will be here until I receive an apology or Weedlordvegeta get any consequences for being a bully
It can be done, very slowly, very carefully. Mostly at this point by saving up gold through daily quests and using them to buy adventure wings. There's some good shit in there.

Fuck Joe Manchin
Don't be afraid to spend money on video games you like! If we never spent money on things we liked, the people that make them wouldn't have any money and would have to stop making them.
feral spirits is total wank in todays meta with a shitload of 3 mana 3/4s and deathrattles and things which can straight up trade evenly making the tempo loss extra painful
There was just a very good post that went up on Liquid Hearth about why Shaman is having so much trouble right now.
So a little bit of encouragement for those getting started: It is indeed possible to do okay playing for free, but it takes some time and a willingness to be frustrated periodically. You suffer from a double disadvantage, in that your cards stink and YOU stink. It helps to watch good players, especially those playing with "free to play" decks, such as Trump. His videos aren't meta-current but he explains stuff that's useful in any meta.
One path to take is to focus on a few factions (or even just one), and aggressively disenchant the rest, so that you can craft some of the ENORMOUSLY helpful neutral and faction cards.
Obviously work on quests and getting packs. Don't be afraid of arena. There are some great sites that help you pick minions. Once your decks have multiple duplicates regularly, you can start thinking about the adventure wings.
Personally, I've been going through the adventure wings without spending real money. People tend to know that the wings are cheaper when using real money, but did you know that that cheaper price (i.e. $5 per wing) is maintained even after you unlock a wing or two? In other words, I've unlocked 2 Naxxramus wings with gold, and the cost to unlock the whole adventure is now only $15 (down from $25). I'll soon unlock one more and use my first real money to unlock the rest. $25 seems like a lot to spend per adventure, but $10? I can do that.
Personally, I think the game is a little too punishing for new players. But it's still pretty fun. As you can see from my signature, board games are my regular pastime, and I'm certainly not into CCGs, and yet Hearthstone still won me over. Until the next time I get demolished by ANOTHER Grim Patron deck.

This is a really stupid question but I've been using just the "basic" mage deck, and even though I've won new cards by levelling to 10 and doing quests none of them is in my deck. Do I actually need to create a deck with those cards in them or is there like pre-built decks in the game somewhere? I only ask because I have no idea what will make a good deck at all, so when I tried to make one it ended up being horrible
I love playing against mill rogue.
Why yes, I would like to refill my entire hand and draw all the cards I need to beat 30 life out of you in two turns! Thank you!
better yet, rework overload
its the only hero power that actively works against you
i love wasting 5 mana, twice, hahahajhdhfdvfqwvhf
so it says something that he is this discouraged about his main class
I agree that Shaman has a tough time of it these days, but I like Shaman, and the overload system in general. It's similar to Rogue in that it messes with tempo, hopefully in your favor. You can have some great turnarounds, as a result. But it's tough to control tempo these days, as that article makes clear.

Let them play around with overload, instead of just being screwed by it all the time.
