Reacting to the things Nintendo does with reflexive praise or hate is tiresome in both directions, IMO.

I think this is why you see people get frustrated with the doom and gloom some people bring up around the Wii U

Nintendo has unbelievable cash reserves and some of the most valuable IP around

They aren't going anywhere because of one failed console.

I never meant to suggest Nintendo IS doomed. I love my WiiU despite severval issues I have with Nintendo.

Amiibo's I am 100% on board with bashing. Even from a business perspective the strategy makes no sense because a good deal of the revenue they're generating isn't even for Nintendo.

Been playing Hyrule Warrior as a break from Witcher 2 and I am in awe of Cia's animations in the worst way. She has a move that pulses out dark energy as she literally shakes her hips around. Young Link is a blast though. I took him to the bottom left corner of the Master Quest map and he ripped through everything with 3000+ KO's and almost permanent Fierce Deity time.

Yoshi's New Island sold slightly better in NA than EU and, while summer sales typically aren't as high as other times of the year, I don't think that's unique to NA either. So to answer your question, I think Nintendo just hates us.

    Actually...

As of like a month ago, Nintendo first party games on the Wiiu have 29 million units.

This is ignoring digital because of course no one lists that.

The ps4 has sold 84m units of software total. (I'd only just top selling games but most barely break 1m. So that would be incredibly skewed.)

Now again this is ignoring digital. The ps4 probably does pretty good digital business.

Regardless, doing more then 30% of the sales with less then half the install base (and all first party to boot. So more of the pie.) Isn't something I'd call failure by any reasonable metric.

I mean looking at the GameCube the entire broke 1m list is only at like 57m or something.

The wiiu is still capable of beating that given the same amount of time.

I bought a wiiu day one with the idea that of course it will be able to SuperGameBoy the ds because look at it it was born for this

And splatoon would be the optimal 2 WiiU gamepad game because there's supposed to be that Total GamePad FPS Limit and splatoon just uses it for the minimap

Which is all too bad that there is no way it is true as it does not outline any of the jokes/memes/puns Nintendo will be doing during the presentation

    Game sales aren't console sales.

But, more importantly; Nintendo's goal is not "sell an amount of games/consoles similar to what we did on Gamecube." Businesses are predicated on growth; the Wii U stumbling across the finish line with numbers comparable to a system from almost fifteen years ago would be a staggering failure. Not only does it demonstrate a lack of growth in absolute terms - when you consider how the overall market for games has grown in that period, Nintendo's even further behind.

As a business, you're not trying to get to where you were in 2001, you're trying to outpace that AND outpace the market's net growth over that time period. The Wii U isn't doing that.

Definitely bullshit. The gamepad+ thing barely makes sense and they can't release Lucas for Smash Bros. right after the presentation, because by then he'll have been out for a few days already.

Probably! Its likely awful there too.

    It depends on the game

If you think playing Mario Kart 7 on the TV would be severely hampered by the track map being on the Game Pad

    Well

I don't know what to say to you, that's insane

I would love to play Pokemon Y on the TV and the menus being on the Game Pad wouldn't hurt it one bit because why would I ever look at both screens anyways

Any game that wants you to look at both screens with any frequency is going to be clunky. If the game is almost exclusively on the top or bottom, then yeah, no biggie.

Looking a both on a handheld can be done without.moving your eyes. It would be a lot worse to.flick up and down from screen to controller.

I knew that was fake because it didn't say anything about the direct sequel to Metroid Fusion which is a real thing and not a fantasy.

actually thinking about it some more I guess a gamepad plus would be plausible if it's just using the same hardware as a new 3ds minus 3d

they might have trouble communicating that it is both a wii u accessory and basically a standalone handheld but well, they've been down that road many times before

Games as an absolute have increased. Console sales and software have markedly declined.

So no, if they can meet or exceed the sales of a peak time in console game sales in the current climate where most companies are struggling in console sales? That's a win, boss. Nothing is in a vacuum.

I don't know, never played Hotel Dusk

But there's also the problem of games like Ninja Gaiden and Brain Age where you hold the DS sideways

But hey, Nintendo were the ones that started the conversation of DS on the Wii U
