Finished Persona 3, psp version. It's very good, I didn't expect to ending to hit me so hard. I wish I played the PS2 version though; from watching some gameplay I think I would have strongly prefered walking around the world and having the cutscenes. I let the AI control my party with no issues, anyway.
Now, to watch the cutscenes from The Answer, since the gameplay didn't really grab me. Good plan?
Oh, and is Persona 4 different enough to go straight into? Or should I give the series a rest?
I'd probably give it a bit of a rest, P4 is very different tone-wise but the gameplay is mostly the same, but improved. Better to go get a breath of fresh air than potentially burn out somewhere on the ~80-120 hour journey that's a full P4 playthrough.

If you find a good one on YouTube please share, i'm almost to the end of the year of P3. I'll just be going the video route for The Answer.
As for Persona 4, I'd highly recommend it especially if you have a Vita. Much preferred the tone and characters of 4 to 3, though 3 has some stand outs.

This youtube seems pretty good. The only negative I've noticed is that it shows non-plot boss fights.
Also, those screens remind me of something from the Persona Five trailer.
The guards turn into vaguely shadow looking things, but all of the fight scenes are against demons/personas. Just in that trailer they fight Norn, Sandman, and Pyro Jack.

It joins the likes of Hatsune Miku Project Diva f & F 2nd, DJMax Technika Tune, and Senran Kagura Bon Appetit!... as well as the upcoming Superbeat: Xonic (DJMax devs), IA/VT Colorful, and Taiko: Drum Master on the best rhythm game system out there. Not to mention backwards comparability with the older PSP Betamaina-style DJ Max games (Fever and 3rd in the PSN store). More if you have a Japanese (the older Hatsune Miku games) or Korean (all the DJMax games) account on the side.
As well as Orgarhythm, Lumines, Magical Beat for Rhythm + Strategy/puzzle combinations, combined with the Patapon PSP games.
Just finished The Answer. I think I vastly prefered to it to The Journey - storywise, of course. The plot was more satisfying to me - it felt far deeper and mature. The game pretty much confirmed my dislike of unvoiced/player-insert protaganists in games like these; having every party member have a voice was so much more natural. Yukari's personality change could have been toned down a bit, I guess. In short, it answered all the questions I had from P3 and felt like a natural conclusion. Loved it.
I have a feeling liking it will put me at odds with people in this thread. :rotate:
There's an persona 3 anime, right? And isn't there some more story in the persona fighting spinoff? Any other P3 media worth consuming?

You'll find it gets hated on, but there's a lot of people who enjoy it too. It's easily the toughest challenge in 3 & 4.

Voice: What's wrong? Are you just going to watch?
Voice: Was that a mistake?
Voice: Hehe, that's right. That's as it should be. I am thou, thou art I.

Voice: Now, let's begin!
The Phantom: GO PERSONA !
Anne / Anzu: I'm not going to hold back!
Morgana: It's time to show my stuff!
Ryuji: I'm fired up!

Fight the powa. The Phantom would want you to.
I expected a LOT more to be honest, but we can only hope the flood gates will open soon.
I also speculate that the MC being locked up is the game over screen, a la Death is a hunter etc.

I don't think that's the case. I don't think they would show us a game over screen in a preview.
So... the game over screen then.

Nothing really new except for the main character's persona openly talking to him in a mocking tone and egging him on to act.
Somehow, every single screenshot I've taken seems like it could be turned into a "haters gonna hate" macro.

Burn the game. It does not deserve to exist anymore.

Nope.
