There are options to turn off the sound effects and interface (on playback mode), and voices have their own volume slider (no way of disabling them with one option, or only in the rhythm game sequences though).
They should add the only thing that could make a rhythm game even harder: Soundless/mute mode.

That's easy. You wanna make it hard, play the WRONG music while running the levels. Better yet, have it just play the Omen music from P4 when the fog envelopes the town late. That'll get your creep factor up and throw you off.

I learned from the Airship levels in theatrhythm that the quickest way to ruin shit for me is to vary the speed/angle at which rhythm symbols approach the point at which you are supposed to press the button. Those fucking things gave me motion sickness trying to play.

If anyone is going to Anime Expo, please pleaseplease get me one of Artist Black's Megaten doujins.
I'll be your friend! (And I will cover the costs, of course.)
220', but who's counting. Though I lift and do cardio and am also 6'2". :P
And I can't play DDR/PIU for shit.
Back in the PS2 days, I used DDR2 Extreme and a Cobalt Flux dance pad, I used it for my workouts along with a stationary bike. Back then the DDR games literally had a mode for setting up aerobic workouts.
Now I'm 40, DDR is hard to come by, and the legs just don't work like they used to.

I think the only time I see a dance machine these days is when I go to an Anime Expo...but man they're always crowded.
I'm actually kinda sad that Dancing All Night isn't a console game with a pad accessory to, you know, actually dance.
If it was a console game, it wouldn't use a dance pad, it'd use the camera like a Just Dance game.
Those dance pads are strictly for DDR games pretty much. If you're wondering why they're not around here anymore, well... one more reason to hate Konami.
Sega's on the Capcom level shitlist. Heck, maybe not even on that.
Konami's got a whole new level of shitlist to itself.
We need a tier list, though this really isn't the thread. (Obviously Atlus is well up the "good companies" list, because they've been bringing like everything Megaten over)

No they haven't.
There's a reason why the Persona 2: Eternal Punishment remake is being fan translated and patched.

I've heard that some people actually find that easier because the music actually throws them off

Wait, what did Sega do on the same level of killing Rockman?
(And yes, killing Kojima, MGS, Castlevania, Busoushinki, Suikoden, and other stuff that's probably slipping my mind at the moment is certainly on a different level)
Man, 4 is so much better than 3 so far. The dialog and overall writing advanced a ton between the two games, and the lower stakes and higher character focus make the whole "highschool life" aspect of it a lot less out of place and silly.
The only thing bothering me is the fact that they haven't just gone to Dojima with the whole "Look we can enter TVs" thing, but I guess then you wouldn't have that whole dramatic angle so eh I'll just live with the plot contrivance. I'm assuming at some point he'll have to find out.
My single biggest annoyance with P4's story is that Brotagonsit doesn't ever open up to Dojima, even when it makes 100% story sense too. It's contrived as fuck and plays on the 'only teenagers can save the world' angle when every other Persona game in existence features adults in-the-know.

Yeah, it's weird because you could have the plot largely the same but with Dojima keeping their secret in order to not reveal them to the killer or whatever.
But yeah, then you wouldn't have the dramatic tension of Dojima suspecting the protagonists are up to something. It's just silly they didn't come up with a better reason for that.
Actually, now that I think about it, there is one really great reason for them not to go to Dojima: Dojima could easily be the killer.
I don't know how true this is or not, but supposedly one draft of the story was actually going to do this. They didn't because of how utterly f'd in the a and creepy it would be.

it seems a little...unoriginal though, i guess because they kind of did something similar in p3 with what's his face insane pun glasses guy

I remember Dojima getting the facts multiple times and just "Haha, ah, you crazy kids. I hope. Hmmmm."

A huge part of being a teenager is thinking that you know everything and that the adults around you just won't understand what you're going through, so you keep things from your parents that frankly wouldn't become issues if you just talked to them.
Your annoyance isn't with the game, its with teenagers.

To be fair if I could go into a TV world and fight shadows I probably wouldn't tell anyone for fear of being committed to an asylum
Destroying the Shining series, not bringing over PSO2, ruining Sonic, basically ignoring all of their non-Sonic franchises...
Gotta point out you missed a crucial one. Sega destroyed the Valkyria Chronicles series by throwing it on the PSP. That game is not meant to be played in pocket form, ever. That plus doing absolutely nothing with the awesome CANVAS engine they made for that series is enough for me to hate them for a LONG time.
Though I do have to say my top hated publisher right now is NCSoft. And yeah, that's still about killing off City of Heroes when there was zero reasons to do so, but after that they've done literally nothing but bow to their Korean masters with the exception of Wildstar. NCSoft can stay in Korea, far as I'm concerned.
Not sure that the platform has anything to do with why the VC sequel was not good, but VC had its own problems that were pretty platform-independent. For example the rating system is one of the most degenerate things I've ever seen in a strategy game. Trying to go for a fairly realistic approach to the game world but turning the battles into glorified capture the flag was a bizarre contrast as well("Oh no! There's a lone teenage girl fucking with our flag! Quickly, take the thirty soldiers that surround her and retreat!"). I think a lot of people just give the game a pass because of the uniquely stylized look.

How is someone that fat good at DDR?
DDR by virtue of existence, when it was popular, turned fat people into skinny people due to loads and loads of cardio.
I... I don't understand.

I know people who are 50lbs heavier than me that can play Level 19 Crazies on PIU. When there's a will, there's a way.
(I'm ~198 for the record.)
And I can't play DDR/PIU for shit.

Dazzling Smile is a kickass song, so I'm glad that's coming. I'd really like to get Maze of Life from Q on that list as some point as well.
