It's not often (ever?) that you see a well established studio go the EA route. And look! No more dudes and bros - just straight rallying!
Woah woah, hold up.
Are you saying this is an honest-to-goodness, 100% no bullshit rally game, without all the other lesser, plebeian racing disciplines (to say less of that extreme sports gymkhana, demolition derby stuff the series had grown more and more inclined towards)? Like I've been wanting those motherfuckers to do ever since they stripped off Colin McRae from the title?
Because holy shit, I thought I was done spending goddamn Steam money for the month...
It's not often (ever?) that you see a well established studio go the EA route. And look! No more dudes and bros - just straight rallying!
Does the DiRT series play at all like the old Rallisport Challenge? This looks pretty cool and I've never been able to find a game that matched Rallisport challenge in Rally racing.
It hasn't really done thus far, but this looks like the best shot yet at coming close to the greatness of RalliSport Challenge 2. I'm sorely tempted, even in Early Access.
Their big statement:
Let’s talk DiRT.
First I want to say thank you, all you guys and girls have been awesome these last few years. You’ve been telling us what you want for what seems like forever, over on the forum there is a next DiRT game wishlist that actually predates the release of DiRT 3. There have been comment threads on gaming websites telling us were we went wrong and hundreds of posts each day on Twitter and Facebook telling us exactly what you want. That’s how awesome you guys are, you’ve been our inspiration and got us through some tough times. So thank you.
Today starts a new chapter in DiRT history; today we’re doing something that scares the absolute crap out of us, but in a good way. Today we’re not only announcing a new DiRT game but we’re making it available as an early access title on Steam... SURPRISE!
If you literally can’t wait any longer to get your hands on it then you’ll find it right here, but while it’s downloading I want you to come back and read about why we’re doing this and more importantly how you can help.
Welcome back, so why Early Access? There are a number of reasons but mainly because we want to make sure we get this right. You’ve been asking us for a game that is pure rally with none of the fluff, one that has more stages, longer stages and repairs in between stages. You’ve told us how you want your own team, to be able to set the car up how you want and to feel like you own the car you’re driving. We want to deliver that game.
So, right now at the start of Early Access this is what you are getting for your money.
17 Cars - Having hundreds of cars doesn’t interest us, rally is about having the right car and we intend on having all of the right cars. These 17 are just to get us started and we’ll be adding more cars over more classes as the year goes on.
36 Stages – Winding paths through forests, death defying drops off hillsides and narrow mountain paths are what this is all about, it’s you and your car versus the road ahead. To get us started we’ll be heading to the muddy paths of Wales, the dusty trails of Greece and the icy tarmac of the legendary Monte Carlo rally.
Simulation Handling – We’ve accurately recreated how every part of the car works and to support this we’ve developed a brand new physics model that simulates everything from the way the surface of the road behaves to limited slip differentials. This is how these cars drive and with real-world rallying experience on the team, a deep understanding of car setup and handling, countless visitors from the worlds of rally and rallycross plus the help of some of our biggest DiRT Fans we've got the handling as right as we can.
A-Synchronous Events – Take on the world in Daily, Weekly and Monthly challenges. These are the ultimate tests of skill and determination and it’s going to take everything you've got to finish on top.
Team Management – Hire and fire your crew members each of whom which will have different skills, improving repair times for different parts of the car. Teach them new skills as they gain experience and work together as a team to improve your performance in events.
League Support – Get together with friends and run your very own racing league. You can join up to six leagues at any one time and run them how and when you want. For more information on setting up and joining a racing league visit http://dirtgame.com
And as a thank you for supporting us during Early Access we are giving you a special DiRT Rally livery for the Subaru Impreza 1995.
We won't be charging anything for that new content, regardless of when you join us you'll have access to everything we produce for our early access period at no extra cost. So that’s what we’ve made and this is just the starting point. Over the coming months we’ll be adding more cars, more tracks, new game modes and features we haven’t even thought of yet – features that you are going to think of and help us build.
This is where you come in, we need your feedback, we want to know what you love, what you hate, what’s broken, what can we improve and we want you to start throwing new ideas at us.
You can do that in any number of ways; follow us on Twitter, Like us on Facebook, join us on our forums, follow us on Twitch[twitch.tv], Subscribe to our YouTube, post in the Steam community hub, subscribe to our subreddit and keep up to date with everything on http://www.dirtgame.com.
We know Steam Early Access isn’t for everybody; a lot of you are going to be disappointed that you can’t play DiRT Rally right now but we want you to still feel a part of it and where we’re going. Join in with everything we’re doing, watch other players YouTube videos and Livestreams, talk to the people who are playing it and tell us what you want. You’re not excluded from any of this and your thoughts and ideas about what we’re up to are just as important.
We won’t lie this is going to be a long road, and we’re fully expecting to hit a few rocks but hey that’s rally! We’re confident that with your help we can make DiRT Rally the greatest racing game anybody has ever made.
God damn guys mentioning shadow of mordor. I've wanted it since it came out but not certain I'll be able to run it well. Same problem with witcher 3 right now And not sure I wanna plonk down the cash and then "lol nope 10fps".

That time in FTL where you are within winning distance only to get shot down on the third phase and NOT blame the ridiculous RNG.
Made 2 crucial mistakes that could have easily avoided if I only thought ahead; not warp into rebel territory to get away from the flagship, unmanned weapons are STILL restored after a phase.
The whole last phase would had only been a battle of endurance if my hull wasn't lost on those, SO FREAKING CLOSE!!! :x

Imagine if they did this with GRID. Or just dumped the GRID name and went back to the Race Driver name. Either way, return the series to the glory of TOCA 2 Touring Cars (Touring Car Challenge as it was Stateside, apparently) and I will give them all the monies.
In the meantime, I think I'll reinstall TOCA Race Driver 3.
Was gearing up for another multiplayer session of Dungeon of the Endless with Albino Bunny when @CorriganX shot me over a copy of Out There Somewhere.
I've played it for about half an hour (just got the gun that lets me shoot stuff, not teleport) and decided to take a break until I'm in a more cerebral mood to take on the friggin' platform puzzles.
Thanks man!
Also, if anyone else wants to play some Dungeon of the Endless, shoot me a message on Steam, it's pretty fun times.

While I have such a low interest in rally racing to begin with that I probably won't really consider getting this (amongst other reasons), this does sound pretty cool.
Also, while people lament the dude/bro/dudebro infusion in this, you can blame ESPN, their X-Games, and energy drink marketing for this. They have basically wormed their way into certain sports so thoroughly that not having it would be a turn off for all those filthy casuals. You can't have snowboarding without XTREEEEM! You can't have motocross with out XTREEEEM! And so on. If you're just doing the racing part, you can cut that sort of thing out.

Yes! I've been waiting for a new Dirt game forever! And finally they're ditching that gymkhana stuff and focusing on rally! I am so hype!
I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of MY DICK EXPLODING
It's harder than the previous Dirt games. I guess it's more sim-like? Idk, I don't really play that many racing games. Anywho, I totally suck at it, as Steam Chat can attest.
Also, navigator voices aren't in yet, which makes everything way harder than it should be.
Thanks @Corriganx for the copy of Out There Somewhere. It looks right up my alley actually. I'll accept the awesome gift once I'm back at my PC tonight.
wow, 4 pages behind today. Well, my washer died needed repairs, but I think I got it working. To celebrate I think I'm going to play dues ex: HR. I'm loving that game so far. I don't think I will play twice for multiple endings. Unless they are stupid easy to get like save before last convo, and pick other option. But good game. I'm lost in Detroit taking all the things. Must loot everything.

You guys, I opened up Steam tonight and went straight to my games library as usual. I opened up a non-Steam game almost by reflex, so I didn't have the fortune of taking a screenshot beforehand to verify it.
But before it changed, I swear I saw the "Last "Played" timestamp listed as... "Tomorrow".
Is... Is this a thing, guys? Are my eyes just shit, or is there, like, something that Steam knows that I don't...?

They are exactly that, which is a bit of an anticlimax. But they're all worth a watch.

Why?
Aside from the voiceover, it's pretty much the exact same stock footage.

A 670 is significantly more powerful than a 750.
but the numbers
The first number just denotes the generation. The second number is a relative indicator of power and intended usage. As a general rule of thumb, they can be roughly divided thus: 1-3 = office, 4-5 = budget/multimedia, 6-7 = gaming, 8-9 = "enthusiast" gaming (and now they seem to have changed "9" to "Titan"). AMD follows a more or less similar scheme.

It's the same style of stock footage, but I remember them all having rather different implications for the world, as well as different shots of different real-world people. Certainly, going through the alternative options made me feel rather uneasy about what my initial decision was.

Well than I will see them both, but. . .
My washer isn't fixed. It isn't steam, so spoilered for funny rant.
So last night I got an error 0E which means water won't drain from washer. I did lots of things, but no luck at 1 am and I'm tired. Wake up today, get little alure to daycare, ok I can handle this. Of course work wants me to come in, but making money doesn't solve the no clean cloths, and who wants dirty diapers piling up?
So, reading there is a filter in the front of the washer, no biggy, it is on the ground. How do you empty water without making a mess? Oh I know, lets use the wet/dry vac I was given by my grandpa in the shed. I use it, and fail to look behind me while sucking the water out. It says wet right on the thing, surely it works? Well, yes, and no. It works, but it also spits the water up in a great fountain effect. So rug behind me, which I was trying to keep dry? Now wet. If you can step back it is a comical sight.
Well I do get the water drained and I clean the filter. It is a mess, but I get it done. Right, now the washer should work? Nope, same issue. And now I have to go through the whole process of getting the damned thing drained again. I have a fan blowing on the rug to dry it, I'm tired of being dirty, and well tired.
I don't do mechanic stuff. I wonder how much it costs to pay. . .
Anyway, I need a break and stress relief. Think I'm sticking with Dues Ex, but maybe I try out murder mode? I also have a lot of other games, but I think that is one I want today. It is so good so far. I wonder how long it will take me to wonder around Detroit finding all the shinies?
Edit:
I have considered skyrim, but with recent stuff... don't know if my mods work. Lol.
Dyas you made the same mistake my dad did when vacuuming up drywall dust. He failed to put a bag in the vacuum (not that this would help with actual liquid) and suctioned up all the dust. When he turned around everything in the room was pure white. That shit doesn't clean up easy and sticks to everything it touches.
wow, 4 pages behind today.
They are exactly that, which is a bit of an anticlimax. But they're all worth a watch.
Well than I will see them both, but. . .
There's four of them, IIRC.
EDIT: From the Deus Ex wiki: "The 4 endings each will have slightly different narration from Jensen depending on whether you were good, neutral, or evil throughout the game. This means that the game has 12 unique endings."
Regarding the washer:
When ours got its filter clogged and wouldn't drain, we got the water out by pulling the washer away from the wall, tilting it backwards so the filter cover was above the waterline, taking out the filter, and tilting the washer forwards carefully with a washing bowl under the filter opening to catch the water.
@Quical If I remember correctly, I was able to run SoM on a 250 GTS and it was very playable on low settings and still looked great so the 750Ti which is about 2 levels above that should be in pretty good shape.

Note that your bodycount isn't what determines whether you were good, evil, or neutral. it's more a function of how you complete quests (so don't doublecross people that give you side quests for a greater reward if you want to stay good).
Damn this, I was going to get me Stock Car Extreme this month... but honest to goodness Rally? Arrrghgghgh, can't choose.

Does it count how many times I knocked someone out so I could read their email and ransack their desks for candy?
This is terrible, absolutely terrible. Not that Evma was gifted it, but that I spent all my wallet funds on copies of Out there somewhere and couldnt get him with it myself.

It hasn't really done thus far, but this looks like the best shot yet at coming close to the greatness of RalliSport Challenge 2. I'm sorely tempted, even in Early Access.
Their big statement:
Keep it lit.
Liking the sound of this.

A 670 is significantly more powerful than a 750.
Thanks @Malakaius
I will get you back for this Mal. A month left until I have a proper job again.

I'm going to be keeping an eye on this. Sounds very promising.

Thanks so much @CorriganX ! This looks really neat!
but the numbers
It's harder than the previous Dirt games. I guess it's more sim-like? Idk, I don't really play that many racing games. Anywho, I totally suck at it, as Steam Chat can attest.
Also, navigator voices aren't in yet, which makes everything way harder than it should be.

Hey guys, guys, this text gives away something.
And I mean, I'm not going to do it but there's certain famously bad games Evma lacks.
I think that 750 has a lot of head room for OC'ing though
EDIT: though

Well than I will see them both, but. . .
My washer isn't fixed. It isn't steam, so spoilered for funny rant.
Edit:
