I was unaware that people regularly give Hetfield/Metallica shit on a regular basis. Lars seems like maybe a bit of a douche, but c'mon... it's like Danny said, they gave us Master of Puppets. Greatest metal song in the history of existence.

Garage Inc and St. Anger are well known blemishes on the band's reputation.
At least Death Magnetic brought them closer to form, though lacks the variety of their better discography. Cyanide kicks ass, though...
I don't know anything of the band's personal lives, so I have to assume people are looking for excuses to be music snobs.
Seeing the Grumps being huge fans of one of the driving forces of Thrash Metal has certainly made my day!

Yahtzee made a comment about a month ago that applies here. "Here's the advanced lesson, people of the internet. You can still like a person's work if they're a bastard."
well sometimes a person is a total goose and also their work is bad
like Yahtzee
Fortunately opinions on works are subjective, but I'm curious to know what you don't like about Yahtzee himself. (if it's anything beyond "I just don't like his personality/his fanbase" or "he didn't like a game I liked")
I've seen some people with reputations for just being assholes to everyone(TB), but I haven't seen Yahtzee publicly do much of anything outside of his works.
Ross is my second favourite Grump (behind the splendour that is Danny). I find he's annoying when paired with Arin, but with other people he's perfectly fine. I dunno, I just don't understand the Ross hate.

Isn't Yahtzee like, a Gamergate sympathizer who thinks there is no gender problem in games?
Hasn't he also made like, transphobic jokes and stuff?

To which I would respond that you can also still dislike someone's work if they're a bastard. No need to be a self-righteous asshole and think you're teaching people how to have opinions about things. I don't know much about Yahtzee, but after hearing he said that I'm even less interested in finding out.
A lot of Metallica hate is against Lars for pursuing litigation against fans that downloaded his music. IIRC it was because he argued it was "ruining" him, just as he's buying a new yacht or whatever. Then St. Anger came out and I at least lost a lot of respect for them.
Now as for Ross in these recent Sonics... I can see your guys' point. It's infectious to a point, because it's clear he's excited about having Jirard on the show, but its getting to the point where its like he's afraid of not sharing a thought. Even as someone who likes Ross, its getting a little grating at times.
EDIT: On the Metallica hate, I think its also because he is viewed as being the one who killed Napster which kind of ruined file sharing for a while and saw the rise of iTunes. Ninety-nice cents a song was a lot cheaper than getting your ass wrecked by the RIAA, and so the scene was set for the early aughts.

Ross seems very bipolar on the show. Sometimes, he's very excited, which means he'll talk over everyone and tell long stories that aren't really funny, and maybe provide a little insight if anything, but he's a horrible storyteller.
Othertimes, he'll be very quiet, but this is just as bad as this means he'll be annoying in other ways, like when they SteamRolled Fortune Street.

Whoa that was super unnecessary.
The implication of the quote, which is out of context so I could totally be wrong, seems to be a pretty asshole way of telling people what their opinions on things should be.
Its like someone giving you shit over the foods you like and dislike. When it comes to consuming media, "I just don't like who makes it," is a valid statement in my book at least.

I think it's obvious what you're inferring, but his statement is about your specific wording that is a pretty far over the top reaction. Especially when you then admit you could be reacting to an out of context quote. (matter of fact, it was in reference to himself.) Calm down a bit, man.
His point is that someone is not beyond reproach just because he created some good work. Nor are you necessarily precluded from liking someone's work just because you don't like them as a person. (though you may of course be reluctant to do anything that supports them, like buy their works)
Thomas Edison is probably a good off-hand example of this kind of person, if I had to name one.
I didn't see that as giving shit about anything, but the opposite: You can like stuff whether the person creating that stuff is a nice person or an asshole. To me that's actually a fair, nice thing to say.
or, you're not obligated to hate something because its creator is an asshole. So, by his logic, I can like the Theory of Relativity. And Ender's Game.

the first article you linked makes the "girl gamers just want attention" argument on its second page, and the second one you linked is the one where he argues that the industry doesn't have a misogyny problem
Outside of the Yahtzee discussion, I'm enjoying the LttP playthrough so much that I bought the game on WiiU. Though ironically, this means I had to wait on today's episode until I caught up. They actually did better in this dungeon than I did. Awkward, that.
That said, i went back, and it turns out somehow, the Dan/Jon playthrough went faster than this. I'm surprised, because they went at what I thought was a great clip.
You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

They're pretty decent at oldschool Zelda. No speedrunners, but they play it quite well, especially considering how much shit they're shooting at the breeze.

Because if telling people how to frame their ideas is being a self-righteous asshole, well, then how many assholes we got on this ship?
