While using your ranged pull is generally not a bad idea, I found on WAR toward the higher end of ARR dungeons that just running in and slamming Overpower a couple times generally worked better, especially if your party is trigger happy on damage.
Trust me
If he had been doing that, I wouldn't have complained
So this is fun, I have been put in the same empty instance twice now. Hit Duty Finder (as DPS), got popped instantly as an in progress Sastasha with 81 minutes left. I'm the only person in the dungeon. A second DPS joins. We both leave -- can't abandon because Square Enix doesn't think ahead.
Hit Duty Finder again. Instant pop. Sastasha, 79 minutes left. This time it's another DPS and a healer who were tossed in just a second before I was.
So yeah, turning off Join in Progress for a while...
does anyone know what to do with "Reducible" items?
i have this radiant fire moraine and i have no idea what it does...

Level 60 Oathkeeper get. I save groups from certain doom with the powers of Clemency, Divine Veil and other new and mysterious Paladin powers that totally don't often boil down to putting the pointy end in the other guy in new and flashier ways.
I need a new shield for slamming skulls, but otherwise I like my look quite nicely and am eager to finish the main storyline and begin the preparations for Alexander anon. Just waiting on Mara to catch up on Warrior so we can finish the finale together.
Black Mage is next!
No idea what I'll level afterwards though, I am so torn between so many classes and my new love for Astrologian has barely been sated. So many choices!

Pushed up to unlocking Garuda yesterday, and got 4/5 of my Paladin AF which made an incredible difference for my defense holy shit.
Think today I'll clear Garuda, and do DD for my next GC promotion.
Went into the first Extreme Primal last night with a hilariously bad raid setup (we don't have that many 60's yet), what a fun encounter. I think experienced groups will get it in a half dozen pulls or so, but we couldn't make it past phase 2.... We were severely lacking in damage with four healers...
I decided to get back into this because dragons and dark knights and flying mounts! I still haven't finished the main story stuff though, as I stopped at the first 8-man. I'll be shooting the FC an application in hopes that there are still some of you who are a bit behind so we can group up. That is, as soon as I have transformed my cat-man into the perfect dragon-man (so like 10 hours in the character creator).

I'm kinda in a similar boat.
Switched from female Roegadyn to female Au Ra. I'm mostly happy with the result, but I always wonder if I could get a little better result if I sat in the character creater changing and tweaking for a long amount of time.
Hmm...I'm wondering if I should change my Mi'qote into something else. I do have that fantasia lying around...
Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I'd love to have the ability to get a monthly stipend of race recustomizations. (Even pay a little extra for the sub.) 2-3 a month would be pretty good.
I doubt it's in Squeenix's best interests to offer something like that, but it'd make me a very happy customer.

You could use it and fool around in the editor and if nothing strikes your fancy just back out. As long as you have only one character, I'm pretty sure the ability to edit appearance sticks around.
Honestly, I don't think maining a tank before is necessary to doing well as a DRK.
Like, when I dabbled with tanking after maxing out WHM and DRG, I knew enough to not be a total idiot because I had paid attention to what the rest of the party was doing. I took note of what the really good tanks were doing (grabbing a mob with the ranged threat generator, using their aoe threat, starting the threat combo, etc.) and just tried to emulate that as close as I could.
I would wager that the people doing really poorly at their new roles just never bothered looking at how the other party members interacted with each encounter.
EDIT: And by the same token, seeing what terrible DPS did when I was a WHM showed me what not to do when I switched to DRG.
I main a tank (PLD until just getting DRK) and the only thing I'm still questionable about is when to grab adds while tanking a boss. I usually just let the DPS handle it, but I'm not convinced that's the right approach. Never had any complaints, but still not entirely confident in that decision.
Everything else? Tanking is easy if you're not an idiot and pay attention. Enemy casting bars and visible field markings exist for a reason.

Is there a way to pull down my nameplate and the enemy nameplate so I can see it better? Because if I'm looking at the way top of the screen I'm not seeing the glowing danger areas on the bottom.

There is!
The entire hud is fully customizable. open up the 'Esc' menu and there will be an option for "Hud Layout" or similiar.

The answer to that question is a simple: Depends on the encounter.

It seems like most adds can just be burned down, but maybe that changes later.
There are encounters where the way the adds spawn means I can easily grab them as the tank before they run after the rest of the party, but more often than not running around as the tank to grab adds means that the boss is pointed in the wrong direction.
If there are situations where the party is being attacked by adds that the tank needs to take care of, it seems better that they pull the enemy over to the tank so that he can grab them without fucking up positioning.
Not grabbing add spawns can make the healer's job a lot more difficult in many fights, but on the whole its very dependent on the situation. If you have good dps focusing on burning adds you usually don't have to worry about them. Of course, some fights you ignore the adds and burn boss while healer kites, some boss fights the tank holds the adds while everyone burns boss. It's just that the first person to get hate on new mobs (if not the tank) is almost always the healer. So if you've got lazy/new dps or a new healer, you prolly want to grab the new adds in a boss fight so the healer doesn't crap their pants.

So, let's say, that I have a spouse, and said spouse is enjoying her trial enough to actually buy the game, and wants the collectors edition. Is there a place, where I can pick up said collectors edition on the cheap or a website that looks out for deals for software like this? Doesn't have to be a physical edition. I've googled, and Ebay has some some discounted original copies, but.. Ebay.
I don't mind paying full price, but, i'd like to set her up with an extra 2 months if possible.
What should I be doing with my tomes and tomestones? I assume they're not the currency for the lvl 60 endgame so what is the best gear I can get that won't be immediately replaced once I start getting to the new content?
Question about Desynth; I read a few forum posts about the high-end results, and which are considered the easiest/most profitable, but what are the products used for? What exactly is demimateria, and why do I want it? Are there only four types? (Battle craft, trade craft, field craft, and clear?) Is there any reason I should start leveling this up now as a leveling crafter, or should I wait to see how the market shapes out in the 3.0 endgame?

Probably gear for jobs you plan on leveling later. Anything for your current job will be replace by 54-55.

oh, yeah, that is a thing i meant to ask...when should i expect to get a new weapon in heavensward? i'm using an Ironworks spear right now and I COULD upgrade it when i get my next carbontwine but i'm currently 54 so is it even worth it?

Currently I'm still using my Ilvl 110 weapon at 52.

the expensive useful things in 2.55 were fieldcraft III, to make master crafter II books, and mastercraft demimateria, to make Supra tools for crafters and gatherers.
these have been totally outclassed by level 54 craftables, so who knows what desynthesis does now?
the other things (primal weapons, swimsuits, &c.) were glamour fodder, and are probably still kind of cool.
Thanks for the replies guys. I will do that. I don't have any poetics right now so that option was out the door. I have been busy leveling my DRK so I havent dont anything in Ishgard yet.

You straight up buy it from the MogStation if you already have an account set up. The digital collectors edition upgrade is $20 for each (base or expansion) or $30 for both.
You know, I was just going to go Au Ra for the week for funsies and then swap back to Catgirl, but I'm starting to love it after tweaking the color to 11.

I've seen it a few times (once ran an ST with a damage specced MRD, for example) but it's pretty rare.

What did you do for a sword moving on to the new content? As it stands I have a choice of making a relatively expensive 70 ilvl weapon or .... ?
Get an Ironworks sword with Poetic tomestones.

Last MMO I played just seemed to follow the philosophy of big and flat environments that make you feel like you're going nowhere.
FF14's world/zones feel relatively tight.
