i'm lookin for suggestions for music to fuck to

i so far have discovered that the last half of Lateralus by Tool is really good for it

nothing heavy of course, something somewhat calm with a good beat. the songs by Tool are really good because they're not very noisy but they have a good rhythm and are repetitive and long, but still maintain a moderately high level of energy

any other songs/albums/bands you guys would recommend?

There's a song out there by portis head called "music to fuck to". Aside from that break-out cd (which is a bit too depressing for sexing, me thinks), her stuff is pretty good for the bedroom. Some of the more recent PJ Harvey stuff too.

    Anything by Portishead
"Colorblind" by Counting Crows, if it's a romantic thing and not just fucking.
I'm not a fan, but Coldplay I could see as being decent mood music.
    Al Green
Bjork (particularly the version of "All is Full of Love" from the Chris Cunningham video)

No there isn't. You downloaded something off a p2p program that someone renamed.

I think a lot of music with lyrics, or easily discernible lyrics, doesn't work well for sexing or snuggling, simply because words are distracting. Or they're too obvious (Closer? please). Funki Porcini's "Hed Phone Sex" is excellent sexy background music. Of course, most any laid back trip hop usually falls into the "sexy category" as well.

EDIT: off of "let's get it on" or "what's going on" that is.

Okay, I understand the urge to blurt out "Marvin Gaye" as an unfuckwithable classic smooth-talkin' soul man, but you can NOT make a case for What's Going On being appropriate in the bedroom. Consider the title track- "Mother, mother, there's too many of you crying. Brother, brother, brother, there's too many of you dying."

I can see putting some Marvin Gaye songs on a mix, "Sexual Healing" if you're bold or something, but throw on an album and he's gonna start singing about the Vietnam War, and nothing kills a boner like the Vietnam War.

I think Teddy Pendergrass is always missed in topics like these. He's got just the right amount of smoothness and funk.

For something more modern, I'd say that there are quite a few Daft Punk songs that fit the bill.

mm, well in any case, the song was as described. The same song was consistently labeled as such, so I assumed it was the title. Recommendation still stands! :D

last night I thought of A Perfect Circle and that would probably work pretty well and also some Nine Inch Nails since we're both NIN fans. massive attack will be looked at as a possibility.

Actually I would suggest Screamadelica over XTMNTR because it's very slow, relaxed and groovy and pretty much totally wasted throughout.

    Some may have been mentioned:

DJ Shadow - most stuff off Endtroducing..., but particularly "Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt"
Nick Cave - The Boatman's Call
The Verve - Urban Hymns (this particularly works great. It's 75 minutes long, all the songs are long ones pretty much, and they're mostly quite downbeat and it just does the job really well)
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights

If you like the Massive Attack / Portisehead vibe, check out Tricky. The stuff off of Blowback and Maxinquaye (a very dirty album in its own right) are especially good.

Also... "I Have Been in You" by Frank Zappa. Ok, not really, but it's funnier than hell.

Trance has to be the best music for sexin it up: often no vocals, hard rythym and trance songs are basically structured like sex to begin with. Look for some Cosmic Gate, any of their albums they are all great but the earlier ones are probably better for sex. Otherwise just throw on the ETN.fm Trance or Progressive channel great station to begin with and it tends to be mixed for good constant energy. Don't listen to all these gee-tar lovin hippies, the synth is your friend for sex.

Some artists that might work for you:

The Field (who I am in love with at the moment) produces music that's somewhere between the lighter-sounding tracks of Daft Punk's Homework, Aphex Twin's earlier Ambient Techno, and chill-out trance
Herbert plays some great vocal jazz/techno
Zero7 is another downtempo group in the vein of Thievery Corp and Portishead
    Ellen Aileen plays sexy-but-cerebral techno
    Tiga makes sultry, poppy electro
The Notwist has one of the coolest-sounding vocalists I've ever heard, and beautiful music to back it up
Sigur Ros is a little glacial, but stunning nonetheless

Also, I sent you a PM

    Massive Attack
    Daft Punk
    Air

It's really slow stuff, but Bohren & Der Club of Gore is pretty sexy ambient jazz. "Sunset Mission" is their best album, imo. Here's a vid:

Maybe some really chill electronica like Royksopp "Melody AM" or Big Bud "Infinite + Infinite."
