Someone whipped up a script that will tell you exactly what your wild dino put stats in (and if they got stats every level)
That is both super neat and feels super unnecessary. Like the odds of finding a 120 are low enough, and its the stats the player puts in that make all the difference.
Maybe it matters more in PVP.

Don't recall anyone posting the new dino, a living scuba tank
*snip*
Not sure I would take JUST that down to get pearls and such, but lets say you are doing an underwater tame, having a few handy would be great. Would really extend the life of your scuba gear/lazarus.

Add AllowFlyerCarryPvE=True to gameusersettings.ini
There is already bAllowFlyerCarryPvE=True for players/tames but this one adds the wild dinos.
I didn't realize this was an option. Is that something we want? I can imagine it might trivialize taming in the wild, but then, kibble goes a long way towards that anyway.
Especially with the new dino we could carry something we want to tame to a big cage.
Hmm... no, now that I think about it I don't like it.

Well, I got overconfident from not dying for too long, picked a fight with a raptor. Raptor which happened to be level 116 and pounce me straight into piranhas.
That did NOT end well.
However, it was a really polite raptor, apparently. When I trekked there to get my corpse, I was surprised to find it hadn't actually hurt my mount and dilo squad. I couldn't kill all the piranha in time to get my corpse before it vanished, though. Which would bother me less if the entire reason for the overconfidence burst hadn't been having found a raptor saddle blueprint in a beacon!
Your dilo squad probably had its way with the raptor. Tame dinos vs wild dinos generally doesn't go well except for high level apex predators.
And no, we don't want to turn on pve carrying. If we have thieves, imagine how irritated you'd be if one of the dicks dropped an alpha carno in your pen.
Huh, Countess couldn't take crops off my plots at my Bat Cave Depot. Odd since unpinned lockboxes and various crafting structures can be interacted with but not crop plots.
Also yeah, no wild dino carrying, nice as it could be it can also be too easily abused and there isn't any real need to carry wild dinos anywhere IMO.

Really? Uh. Note that my squad is three dilos, each around level 38 or so (Norbert was lvel 80, but he was lost, and will be remembered). It's not really an impressive pack or anything.
That said, what would people suggest to be able to tame a raptor? Because running around on a Uthraptor is kind of a childhood dream of mine. Having some tranq arrows should be enough? Because I find those in beacons semi-often, and had something like fifty of them (had, because they were in aforementioned corpse grumble grumble).

If you have a normal bow, it should be about 17 arrows, 10 if you have a crossbow, less if you have a better version of either of those.

Maaan, if it's 17 arrows I almost had it. I could shoot about a dozen arrows into her before she got me. Dagnabbit, if it wasn't for the bloody piranha I'd have a raptor now.
Also, what is the Taming Multiplier in that calculator and how do I know mine? Because it seems to have a massive effect on the amount of food you need to get a dino.

Didn't see anyone else mention it, but if you get back to your corpse, and a dino is eating/has eaten it, there will still be a small brown backpack with all your inventory items in it. Like your corpse (if it doesn't get eaten), this bag will last 15 minutes. Let us know if you'd enjoy a "noobie package" of sorts, we've all got extra junk just lying around in boxes, waiting for someone to give them to. Even just a good pike, GPS, water bottle, spyglass, and a crossbow can go a long ways to helping you out, without feeling like you're "cheating" by getting a lot of high level stuff for free...

Hey @Drascin, Countess is packing up shop to go nomad, and giving away/setting free her excess dinos. I picked up her lvl 119 raptor in case you'd like me to drop it off at your place
We have a bunch of people doing that at the moment, which is neat.
I am curious how the Quetzal will work. Can you just have it hover while you are offline? Or do you need a safe place to land? Can you leave it mid air or will it land the instant you dismount?
Because the idea of flying a slow moving base and then using a smaller flier like a jet on an aircraft carrier amuses me.

Yeah, I know. I saw the pack. But the problem was that by the time I arrived back to it, managed to find it (it is not a very big pack and it took a bit to find at night) and killed the six piranha around, it had vanished. If I had brought more than three spears so I didn't have to stop and make more when the ones I had broke I would probably have managed.
And honestly, It would feel a bit like cheating. The GPS feels like a rather high level item - I haven't even SEEN any of the materials required to make it. But seeing how my greatest limiting factor when going out to explore is the fear of getting lost and being unable to find my way back (that and my parasaur's carrying capacity), I will admit the temptation is there :P .

Going from surviving to thriving in this game felt like one of the best transitions, like I had really passed a large milestone. I totally understand if people want to skip the surviving phase and just get on with making an awesome base though.

My newbie anecdote goes like this: I was brought over to Kun Lun (major Warboyz settlement up north) near its beginning, given a full set of chitin armor (I had barely begun to learn leather) and a set of metal tools. I lost them all to a wild argent in an hour or so. Felt so bad about for a long time so I stayed around Kun Lun grinding materials for the construction there. Eventually I went off to establish Moth Falls in the west but boy I can be fussy about accepting help from others after then and even now.
@Kalnaur. I really like your village idea. Since the game is quite maintenance heavy, I doubt I'll have time to maintain anything on my own on the PA server as well. But access to a safe crawlspace with a little storage space and accessable smithy/forge/feeding trough could be good. Then I could do some crafting for whoever wants it, and keep only the trike/ptera or bird needed to forage and zoom across the land.
How are you new nomads dealing with big predators and alphas? What about when you log off? I'd like to copy the idea, but are you laying out 10+ spiked walls every time, or something like that?

Oh yes! Give me more bouncy animals. My buddy and I spent all day bouncing around the island on our toads yesterday. Such simple, good fun! Lead a cat or Carno on a merry chase, jump across ravines and over birds. And make some cementing paste along the way. Best new species yet

Honestly, I think I've already passed the first stage of survival. I spent most of the free weekend getting mauled by dilos and barely staving off hunger, but since I bought it I've been doing way better. Now I have a decent basic set up where I can survive basically indefinitely off berries and such, and can run around with my biggest fear being getting too lost to return, since most big predators I have been able to avoid up to now, and random dilos are no longer a problem at all, as well as my dilo friends being able to take care of the bugs. Which is pretty great, let me tell you, because bugs accounted for so many of my deaths during that free weekend.
My biggest limitation right now is resource collecting and storage, to be honest. It takes me forever to get any decent amount of most types of resources to build anything (basically anything except berries, because Hardhead helps with those) and I have limited carrying capacity to just go in collecting sprees. With the most annoying to collect being meat - Dodos and small carnivores seem to give tiny amounts of it, and parasaurs run off fast enough that hunting them is a massive pain. And since a chunk of it spoils between sessions, I have to do it all over again every time I want to try and go find a carnivore to tame (and then NOT find it, because of course not, but that's just life :P ).
Anyway, yeah, in the end I will probably accept a little help to speed things up. Given my propensity to getting lost a GPS would change the entire way I go about things. And I think I can fairly legitimately accept the raptor, since I can clearly get a raptor mount - if the piranha hadn't been there I would have won that fight (and then probably found out that the fifty raw meat I had on hand weren't enough to tame it and hit my head against the table several times in frustration :P ).
You would have been fine with meat, if you were by water, you were by fishies, and fishies give way more meat than you'd think.
Now whether or not you'd have had enough narcotics to keep it out, that's another story.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

And then I moved towards and then into Mudzgut's old base when he left, eventually turning the whole area into a large base/fenced in village.

This reminds me, I borrowed Clotho from your village last night to take out an alpha carno that spawned just north of Red ob. (I was on a flyer, none of my big dinos in range) It was level 40-something so Clotho probably has a decent chunk of XP to spend now.
