Kind of crazy that the best / favorite guns in the game are the ones from the very first raid from so many moons ago.
The whole exotic weapon bounty thing is cool and I like it. I just wish they went over in that rarely-used Missions section instead of the bounties one. I'm up to 3 of them now and am unlikely to finish any of them off soon.
Looking forward to nightfalling now that I have some idea what I'm doing in one. Is it just me, or does it sound to anyone else like the Archon Priest is saying, "It's your time! Cod pieces for all humans!" when he climbs out of the cell?
Also, now that marks have reset for the week, I can finally buy myself a fucking space hat since I've played, I dunno, a lot of hours now of Destiny and have not seen a single legendary helmet drop and they inexplicably are more expensive than 1) any other armor and 2) the number of marks you can earn in a week.
Why does Bungie so love to arbitrarily limit things? Like, isn't a 100 mark/week cap or a 200 mark bank enough? Do we need both? Is there a reason I can't have more than 25k glimmer? Why can't I keep however many pieces of gear I feel like in my vault? I can understand capping a lot of things to slow people's progression through the game, but it seems like they cap stuff just 'cause. I mean, why is there a cap on how many material slots I have in my inventory? I can understand gear, bounties, and even consumables, despite there being a hard limit on how many of those I can possibly use in a session anyway, but why does it matter how many pieces of relic iron and shit I save up? Thank Crota I got my last armor core in the mail since I didn't realize my materials slots were all full of Varkis tokens when I did PoE.
Guardians: tomorrow brings a fresh start to the week. New bounties. New Nightfall & Weekly Heroic Strikes. The promise of Trials to come. But remember your true calling and the cause for which we join ranks and take up arms:
IRON BABAR. LONG MAY HE REIGN.
Six-man fireteams and full PlayStation Parties will be the norm on the PS side. Call-outs and teamwork. Liberal use of Etheric Light (rather than hoarding it, as I've done) to get your arms and armor up, if you feel so inclined. Be friendly and supportive of each other. If you're new to the game or you've never participated in an IB, friend me (SKI2000G) or anyone posting here and join up with us for guaranteed laughs and a better chance at steamrolling the competition.
See you in the Crucible, friends.
@GMaster7 what days/time does this usually roll for?
Expect an add from me (jfrofl) tonight.
People are usually rolling all night when IB is up. Check PS Parties and just join one labeled as such. I get home from work around 7 pm EST, sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later. Tonight is probably Nightfall Night, but I could be persuaded after we're done with those to wreck shop in a PA group for a lil bit.

EDIT: Well, the original children's books from the 1930s were French, I guess. But listen to this synopsis of the first book alone (spoiler alert!), courtesy of Wikipedia:
"After Babar's mother is shot by a hunter, he flees the jungle and finds his way to an unspecified big city with no particular characteristics. He is befriended by The Old Lady, who buys him clothes and hires him a tutor. Babar's cousins Celeste and Arthur find him in the big city and help him return to the Elephant realm. Following the death of the King of the Elephants, who had eaten a poisonous mushroom, a council of elephants approach Babar, saying that as he has "lived among men and learned much", he would be suitable to become the new King. Babar is crowned King of the Elephants and marries his second cousin Celeste.
...
Besides his Westernizing policies, Babar engages in warfare with the warlike rhinoceroses of a hostile bordering nation, who are led by Lord Rataxes."
You guys. Babar is the shit. Who knew?!
EDIT2: If I can remember to do so, the clan names may change for this week only to reflect the glory of the One True King of the Elephant Realm. Some Arcadians have requested a return of April Fools' "Toss My Saladin," but the King scoffs at your crude humor.

I have never in my illustrious Destiny career seen an exotic bounty. The one exotic weapon I do have (P&T) is from my very first PoE key chest. I would love to get a Thorn/Universal Remote/almost anything bounty!
I have never in my illustrious Destiny career seen an exotic bounty. The one exotic weapon I do have (P&T) is from my very first PoE key chest. I would love to get a Thorn/Universal Remote/almost anything bounty!
I got my first exotic bounty stupidly took Thorn and then realized as hunter playing to only get kills with specials and heavy weapons is rage inducing. Get a kill with a void fusion rifle/shotgun then die twice trying to get a close quarters kill made my blood boil like I've never had happen before. I tried for an hour to get that stupid bounty up then promptly deleted it before it made me hate Destiny.
I've ascended a lot of my exotics due to a surplus of money and materials, including exotic shards procured from Xur.
However, not having received any Etherics means that's all I've gotten. The only reason I'm 33 on my Warlock is that I took the only Armor Core I had and bought Varik's chest piece last week for Trials.
I think my plan is to get my Hunter and Titan up to 33 through two more Etherics or Cores (if I can ever finish 32 PoE again) and then look at upping some legendary weapons. Fatebringer and Visions may be the first two, honestly. And probably Word just to cover the elements in primary form.
Last night I decided to just cut away a lot of the extra bloat from my vault. So many copies of raid weapons were turned into materials as well as many many weapons from TDB or before that I just couldn't see any reason to hold onto. The reforging option of weapons makes the new ones so much more desirable.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't love a larger vault though.
And on the random side of things, I got a Crux of Crota last night. I was amused and then went ahead and upgraded my Eidolon into the Necrochasm. Such a silly gun, but it's kinda fun to use even if it only does minuscule amounts of damage.

Yeah, "A Light in the Dark" just sat in my bounty queue for a month until I finally got an Atheon's Epilogue that I could take into Crucible. (This was way back pre-AR nerf, pre-TDB when Epilogue was still good.)

i completed that part in a day and i suck at crucible
it's all chronicled here, from my humble beginnings thinking it would be impossible, to my slow and steady increase in kills, to the excitement bubbling over as i neared the end, to the final ecstatic release of joy when i completed the step

i think one of the crucible/faction vendors regularly has a void sniper
void machine gun is helpful, too. can consistently get more kills with a slow-firing machine gun than a rocket launcher, at least in my experience
exotic bounties turn up fairly often if you just do your vanguard bounties every day/as often as you can
like, not super common, but i seem to get one every couple weeks
Had an awesome time getting carried through some stuff and getting my learn on with @Quid who was a good sport about me pestering him with a gazillion questions about Destiny.

I don't play every day, but when I do I do all the vanguard bounties available. I didn't see any exotic bounties until well after hitting 32, now I've gotten 3 in the last...week? Week and a half? I picked the Pocket Infinity one the first go-round based on the flavor text because I didn't know what was going on having not heard about the exotic bounties prior-to. Second time I picked the Thorn one because I wanted a Thorn but didn't actually read what the steps were going to be. Third time I read all of the options and what I'd need to do, so I'll probably actually finish the Bad Juju one sometime soon.
Not that the Pocket Infinity one is hard, exactly. But for some reason the flood of blue fusion rifles that I know I had before has become zero blue fusion rifles. It's all snipers and shotguns now that I actually want the rifles.

Ammo consumables can now stack to 100
Ether Chests will no longer grant ammo consumables when opened
Like, it was fairly cool they did that and made them more accessible but the issue was their inventory management, not the granting of them.
Modifying inventory management would likely take longer to fix / patch in. This is a week #3 patch so really, it's a fast patch to fix a lot of grievance!
So much good stuff in the patch notes about key drops being more common. They did patch out being able to loot chests multiple times but I think we all knew that was coming sooner or later.
There is some good stuff in there. The Ether chest grinders are going to be mad though.
Spoiler below for full details:
Key Highlights
•The first Wanted Fallen Bounty completed each week is now guaranteed to drop a Treasure Key
•Greatly increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from the small chests at the end of the Prison of Elders
•Increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from Ether Chests
Prison of Elders
•Greatly increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from the small chests
•Class Items will now drop from Level 32, Level 34, and Level 35
•Fixed a bug in which the Ship (Hildian Seeker) did not drop under certain circumstances
•Fixed a bug in which the ‘Elder Cipher’ Bounty could not be acquired if your Bounty inventory was full
•You will need to defeat Skolas again to receive the ‘Elder Cipher’ Bounty
•Damage caused by Qodron’s Gaze is reduced by 25%
•Damage multiplier for the Jailbreaker buff increased by 100%
Trials of Osiris
•Fixed an issue in which Trials of Osiris emblems were not sent to the Postmaster if your Emblem inventory was full
•Passage Coins can now be dismantled
Weekly Heroics
•Fixed an issue where the Weekly Heroic strikes did not award engrams (Note: Tooltip will not display them as rewards)
World
•Increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from Ether Chests
•Ether Chests may only be looted once per spawn
•Ether Chests will no longer grant ammo consumables when opened
•Ether Chests will now grant a small amount of Queen's Wrath reputation when opened
•Ether Chests now have a chance to drop Tokens of Flight, Identity, and Judgment
Quests
•Petra will no longer display a quest waypoint for players who have not purchased House of Wolves
•Fixed a bug in which players abandoning the ‘Gone to Ground’ quest were still being directed to the Venus Patrol
Bounties
•The first Wanted Fallen Bounty completed each week is now guaranteed to drop a Treasure Key
Weapons
•Fixed a bug in which the 1.2.0.1 hotfix mistakenly did not contain the 1.1.1 Fusion Rifle balance changes. As a result, players were playing with its pre-1.1.1 weapon balance state. The original fix has been re-applied.
Items
•Tokens of Flight, Identity, and Judgment can now be dismantled to gain +10 House of Judgement reputation each

I am actually happy for this change. Trying to rush to and back from the zone line only to hit a rock or ledge with seconds to spare frustrated me a lot. This makes the whole process much more enjoyable in my opinion.

•Fixed a bug in which the 1.2.0.1 hotfix mistakenly did not contain the 1.1.1 Fusion Rifle balance changes. As a result, players were playing with its pre-1.1.1 weapon balance state. The original fix has been re-applied.
Items
•Tokens of Flight, Identity, and Judgment can now be dismantled to gain +10 House of Judgement reputation each
•Ammo consumables can now stack to 100
I am actually happy for this change. Trying to rush to and back from the zone line only to hit a rock or ledge with seconds to spare frustrated me a lot. This makes the whole process much more enjoyable in my opinion.
