Chasing down rares is the last thing you do for it.
Run through zones that aren't the daily and grab the chests.
Or help people doing King of the Jungle. That's 6 to 8 of them right there.
I can usually get nearly all of mine from chests in that under ground passage from zeth'gol/kra'nak to Iron Harbor/Fel Forge.
If your server is dead then there should always be plenty of them.
If you clear out all the rares in Fang'rila then that's another four fragments. Some of them are hard to solo for some classes, but if you can do it, you can get all 10 fragments from Fang'rila.
Yes if you are banging out the order of the awakened rep go to where the king of the jungle stuff spawns. If there is not a group there check the looking for group stuff. Banging those out will get you most of what you need for the day then use your prey finder or just hunt around a bit for the remainders. Also in the apexis daily area of your choice there will typically be some apexis fragment nodes you can harvest that have these things as well. I finished my quest list night in under 10 minutes it really is pretty easy if you do it that way.
The green transport with fucking Night Elves survived and my blue submarine with Humans just about to go epic was destroyed on a 92% chance mission. Fuck everything. Commissined a new one and landed another blue, so my Hellfire cache has 89% as opposed to the 98% I would have had.
My mage continued the trend with FOUR ships blown up on 80%+ missions. All blue.

"No one ever really used follower retraining things that we spent so much time making, they just min-maxed... so let's make something like the missions where the followers can be killed and make min-maxing impossible! Yeah that sounds like fun!"
Said no one ever except blizzard developers.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me
I used the ship doodads a little bit for my first char through, now I just send boats on anything over 80%. If both epic ships get blown the fuck up, I laugh and make two more. Ships are expendable. Their crews are fodder. I think for the final step of the legendary, I lucked out and a "mission success increase" thing landed on that when I did it, so I had 90% or something. The rest of them I just right clicked and sent and succeeded. I get a laugh everytime I see someone wailing and gnashing their teeth about how much it costs in GR to 100% boat missions.
It's annoying because I don't have the energy to to deal replacing and fucking around with equipment on the ship.
I'd rather just whatever it.
It was a stupid design in relation to what was a mostly okay design that they thought was stupid and wasn't being utilized the way they thought it should be utilized.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me
The biggest issue for me is that I was sending my followers on missions to do cool things, go to cool places, and fight cool-sounding bosses that my actual character was not able to do because the content was not in the game.
My process goes like this; I have the two tables in my garrison now on the three chars I play the most. I have the doodad that teleports you to the shipyard. In the morning, I get a cup of coffee and sit my ass down and login and click complete all. Then I right click a shitload of missions and click send parties. I go to the ship yard and click my missions from the previous day and fail to pay attention to what ships, if any, get destroyed. If there's any treasure-y shit I care about and over 80% I right click send, and repeat. I check my fleet and make sure I have 10/10 or 8/8, whatever. If I am missing, I TP to the shipyard with the doodad, then make a ship, trying to keep 2 of each type, maybe one carrier with the Awakener being there. I never remember to bring the goddamn ship rush orders, so once I queue it, I log off. I then move to my next char and repeat.
At night when I get home, I log in, finish the ship, and queue another if necessary. I don't usually notice what the ship has, unless it's a murloc ship which gets a little cheer. I don't notice, because I don't care. Because it doesn't matter.
Then I go play the game, as it were. I don't generally bother with my missions, sometimes I do If I'm going back to my garrison to farm some mats for a tradeskill item that I want like a belt for my warrior, or maybe an INT shield for xmog then I will hit up the garrison table again and resend my minions. (I think all my chars now have 30 slot bags, and 28 slots in the bank, my level 1 warlock that I've never played other than to dress in heirloom might be short 1 or 2 bags.) I then go out and smack up old raids for Shadowmourne, or maybe kill Kael'thas for the mount, level an alt or whatever floats my boat. Raid nights I usually just log after the ship stuff if needed and come back for raid time. If it occurs to me, after raid I might do the ship thing if needed or resend mission minions. The only mission I really pay attention for is the heirloom ring, which I've yet to see, or Breaker Two Zero, which is the gronnling who I've now sold twice for ~21k.
Some notes; my third alt with the second table doesn't have an oil rig so is perpetually out of oil; I'm not motivated enough to bother with rep for her right now. Maybe later. I have two other alts that if I think about it, I log in and just send garrison missions. When my GR caps, I buy two trait rerolls and hope for a treasure hunter. My gold is currently at...280k? I buy the odd mount, or spend on something like 10k on Quel'Delar hilt a few weeks back. Generally I find gold flows in faster than my cheap ass can spend it. I don't feel compelled to buy the motorcycle or 100k mount. I'd almost rather get the Dalaran ring for easy travel back to Northrend, but I have the tabard and it's only a stone's throw from Dalaran by flying mount as it is. That said, the ring *is* 10 nerd points.
So let's reiterate here, ships don't matter to you because you've already gotten just about everything you want from them. Do you just not realize how much of a goose you sound like for saying that to people who may not be as far along as you are? Such as, for example, the people who can't get the first Legendary quest up above 50% because their prize ship was blown to smithereens and it'll take a lot of GR or time to get another one up to par?
I *never* paid attention to my ships outside of the first couple weeks. I did the bulk of the legendary quests without tuning ships for it. No ship is a prize ship. They're expendable. Choke the enemy with your waterlogged floating dead. If there is a design failure, its that the first garrison missions taught users to aim for 100% all the time which was never going to fly when it came to the Fleet table.
Actually, that was the real let down, that we didn't get to actually go out on a ship and fight ourselves. I didn't mind too much sending my mionions to fight bosses and such for cash and xp, I mean, I was doing that too. I never got to go out on a boat though. I guess when flying comes I can fly out to a ship in my habour put on my captain hat and pretend.
And when they go down in flames, I can mount my gryphon and fly away, leaving them to their watery fate while I go replace them. Losers.

Wanna guess how far along I am, and therefore how far back I'm set when a blue or higher ship self-destructs?
So this happened today.
I've hunted this mount for YEARS. It is my absolute favorite of all the mounts. I leveled several extra characters just to add extra farming attempts on Tuesdays. To say that I am excited is an understatement. I am now complete. XD
Congratulations, I farm that sumbitch on and off, usually I kill him for a month steady on a couple chars, get annoyed, take a few weeks off. Attumen in Kara is the other one, at least that one is a quick kill.
A few months ago, I don't even remember the mount or dungeon/raid in question, someone in guild chat perked up that one had dropped for them. I wasn't doing anything, so I wandered over and killed whatever, and got it as well which was a pretty pleasant surprise. Now I can't even remember which mount that was!
I am cursed to never have my 4 piece, I've decided. I have killed Socrethar 16 times over 2 difficulties looking for those god forsaken gloves, and still nothing. I still have normal left to do this week, but I'm actually considering just running H Soc over and over and spending all my damn coins in the vain hope that I might get those fucking gloves at some point.
Congrats, Hallowed! That's such a good feeling, getting that one drop you've been hunting for. Got a new carrot to chase now?
I'm still farming Firelands for all the goodies in there, and now my Druid has a new one since Majordomo drops a new version of the Burning Seed as of 6.1. It's nice knowing I don't have to make that flight to Tempest Keep anymore.
This expansion I have done more retro stuff because WoD is just.. a chore list. So there isn't much time spent in Tanaan once dailies are done. I'll probably focus on achievements until Legion.
I've gotten two of the heirloom ring quests, the left shark quest, and the gronnling mount garrison mission so far. I need to look up what else there is besides the other two rings.

I think I was in guild chat for that, and even I don't remember which one it was.
I only just started farming the phoenix mount off Kael'thas late last year. I suspect it won't drop for me before my subscription runs out next month.
My luck is weird. It took me a couple hundred Onyxia kills for her mount (which I don't even ever use) but only maybe 30 for Ashes. I've still yet to snag TLPD but got Aeonaxx in less than an hour of camping.
Now if I can just get Mimiron's goosey-ass Head...
I've had pretty good luck on mounts. Have TLPD and Aeonaxx + Alar and Headless Horseman. If I start mount runs again I'd be going for Invincible, Attumen, ZG mounts, Blazing Drake (last one for Emerald), and maybe Mimiron's Head but fuck that slog.

It just goes to show that if you complain before you kill the boss, you get the loot.
It's only normal, but I hope I never have to kill Socrethar again.
I'm the same way, I'm literally the only person in our regular raid group of 15ish people who does not yet have a 4 piece. I got a warforged archimonde class trinket before I got friggin tier gloves or chest
I know it would have cost us a raid tier, but I wish that as I ran to turn in my legendary ring at the end of the expansion, that Karabor wasn't filled with corpses of orcs from the attack on the first day of the expansion.
Yep, same thing here. I literally only use the trinket while doing dailies though, because the MW trinket is pretty bad. My 4pc is insanely good though, like a boost of several million healing for almost no extra effort. I can fiddle some with it (including a neat bug/feature where I can cast RM after Uplift to give someone a free ~150k heal) but I don't really have to.
Meanwhile the Assassination trinket is ridiculous, and boosts my dps by like 15-20 percent, and has crazy synergy with my 4 piece, which is why I want it so bad

Don't get me wrong - I love having 80k+ DPS overall at the end of a 10 minute heroic run as the tank
But I really wish that the tank legendary had a stronger damage reduction effect and no bonus damage. My ring is at 747 now, and it gives 56% versatility, which is 28% damage reduction and 56% bonus damage done. That is such a HUGE boost to damage that it's just totally unrealistic not to pop it on cooldown. I wish it was more like a 40% damage reduction with no bonus damage so that I could feel better about hanging on to it for the proper moment.

PSA - apparently if you kill Archimonde on LFR, he does NOT drop the Crystallized Fel, the legendary ring +3 ilvl upgrade item. That's intended, it's only supposed to be from Normal and Heroic. BUT if you kill him on LFR, you won't get Crystallized Fel from Normal or Heroic Archimonde that week either.
