I've stopped thinking of Raynor as an assassin, honestly. I find that I have a lot more success with him when I consider him to be more of a ranged specialist. As someone who takes Bribe on almost every character that has access to it, I consider Raynor's Recruitment to be one of the best talents in the game.
He kind of is a teamfight/siege specialist depending on how you build him.
He's definitely not the type of assassin that is good at running down and kill enemies on his own. Great damage output, but with the exception of Revolution Overdrive he has nothing that will allow him to actually close with an enemy. Even the slow grenade talent actually gives him very little...since it pushes enemies away (and with no escape talent you really don't want to be on the enemy-side of a fight).
P.S: Super-annoyed that whenever I join a quickmatch no-one else on my team aims at getting some bloody XP at the beginning. So regardless of my character (even with freaking UTHER) I'm the top XP earner for my team while the other team is 2 levels above.

Should I get Infested Tychus or hold out for Prisoner Tychus? I kind of dig the idea of a shirtless pile of manmuscle with a minigun riding a giant fucking wolf into battle, so maybe Prisoner Tychus is more my speed.
Should I get Infested Tychus or hold out for Prisoner Tychus? I kind of dig the idea of a shirtless pile of manmuscle with a minigun riding a giant fucking wolf into battle, so maybe Prisoner Tychus is more my speed.
Infested Tychus is one of the best skins with different movement animations on top of throwing banelings instead of grenades and calling in an infested Odin. It also isn't on sale though so there's no hurry to choose.
I bought Abathur and I like him, but I've basically just been tinkering with him in a couple of Vs AI matches. How viable is he in a PvP quickmatch? I can't imagine very since maximizing him depends on team coordination and competent partners.
Like if I wanted to focus on a Locust/Siege build for Quick Match is that viable at all? I'd still pick the clone Ultimate to give my team another body on objective related team fights.
I've found that his siege build tends to just be meh, even against subpar teams in QM, because it's too easy for any champ with a good lane clear to negate him (sylv especially) and you bring zero hat game with a full locust build.
His effectiveness overall is more related to your map awareness than teamcomp, and you can fix a lot of team problems by tossing out a couple of messages about you building his parasite and that hat=stabs/shields.
Heroesfire has a couple of good guides for abathur that explain positioning and some of his talent synergy really well... always a good read (I'd link, but I'm behind a wall at work). The big decisions for hat builds are support hat (heal+sustained shield, tapers off in usefulness by late game but helps a lot during laning) or full dps hat (attack speed+aoe spine talents, starts good and gets better). One can be a life saver if you have no support on your team and the other works well if you just want to stab faces and run your monstro into people.
What I've had a lot of success with is going full hat build and using my comp to determine what portion of time I spend on the Monstro vs on teammates. Everyone underestimates the monstrosity... I managed two kills around lvl 18 (just outside doublekill timer) on a falstad and another assassin (jaina maybe?) because they thought it was just a big minion... two heroes down for 45+ seconds in exchange for a mostly mauled monstrosity that went back to a lane to keep pushing.
For having less of a comp to work with, keep in mind that Vallas and Jainas are still going to have melee heroes on them, so going full hat with a "poor comp" means that you need to play the hat defensively rather than aggressively (like you would with Illidan/murky) and punish every attempt the enemy team makes at getting close to your back line. You can really hurt heroes that think they're diving for an easy kill with a quick shield and some stabs/spines. I've killed a lot of illidans that thought they could hunt one of our squishies and get a free kill out of it.
Personal opinion on his other ult is that unless you have a hero on your team that you're familiar/good with, the clone ult can be a bit of a waste. Typically because dying with it means giving the other team free Xp (50% of a kill I think?) and you can't hat while it's active.
Lastly, make sure you turn on cast on button push or whatever that setting is... makes landing stabs a million times easier.

I hate the Odin. I love the zoning offered by the dumb laser drill though. I know it's suboptimal, but if a teamfight ever starts and you don't have 3 seconds to jump in the Odin (which has been well over half of my teamfights) the laser seems to get more work done.

Well Infested Tychus also gets a laser covered in creep and pustules so you're good there. It's just not as visually impressive as the Odin since the Odin shoots out swarms of Scourge or whatever the Zerg gnat like units are in place of missiles.
Odin is still ridiculously OP. Tychus's damage potential while in the Odin suit is ridiculous. Nay, it is RE-diculous. It is more diculous than other things.

It's also good at zoning but it's not good enough at it to be a 100% take it on maps where zoning is important.
Also works really well on Spider Queen where the map is small but with lots of walls, so you can drop the thing somewhere the enemy can't easily get to but it can still hit them. Especially after the lvl 20 upgrade.

If he was hatted it might have gone the other way if their Aba had taken the attack speed upgrade and heal.
Zag can definitely melt him down though if he doesn't dodge all of your stuff and you have 2 hydras on him (that'd melt anyone quick-like). I always miss my banelings on Illidan.... he always jumps over me just as I throw them. >.<'

It was actually really weird, as you can see by the stats. 30 minute game and very few engagements. I took Promote and so I was going around Promoting lanes (and later Catapults) like a motherfucker, our Hammer bravely backdoored their core to 33% while they were pushing into ours. Their lategame started to overtake our strong early/mid, as we started to lose teamfights, but fortunately we closed out through sheer pushing.
Shoutouts to Sotar and Munkus for that one, just a super great game.
I've actually been having a lot of success with Raynor recently, especially with his auto build. It's way more effective than I thought it was. You just gotta know what maps/comps to use it with. And where to stand I guess. This is what I usually use, subbing in giant killer if they have a lot of fatties. heroesfire.com/hots/talent-calculator/raynor#kFJs
Also wow, I wrote a kinda ranty/long string of tweets at Dustin Browder the other day about the terrible matchmaking, not expecting anything to happen. Just wanted to vent really.
Today he responded and said the feedback is being heard. And sure enough, I look at his twitter and 1) multiple people are complaining about the same thing and 2) he's responding to like, all of them.
So uh wow, kinda floored that he responded really. I think most people in his position would've just like, ignored it.

You're talking about level 40's getting matched with/against level 10's (or maybe more accurately <25)?
It's a very real concern. Even though the whole idea of "Quick" matches, with the word Quick being the operative word, there needs to be some sort of stipulation to make games more fair for everyone involved. Fair for new players and veterans alike.

Edit: this thread moves too fast....this was in reply to the talk of an Azmodan announcer.
My friends and I keep calling him Azmodad and saying things like, "Arrogant children, did you think you'd leave the house dressed like that!" when our buddy dunks with him. It's a good time, and I'm doodling him wearing a polo shirt with a #1 Dad mug that he throws instead of a fireball to throw on Blizzard's twitter.

Quickcast is love, quickcast is life.
Once you actually get familiar and comfortable with it, it makes a world of a difference. You will notice huge improvements in your play. There's also On-Release if you're not super familiar with your ranges.
My only regret is that it took me far too long to bite the bullet on that one.

I don't think that applies to Overkill does it? Seems kinda useless to me cause I assumed it didn't, like all the other AA upgrades.
And Laser Upgrade is a fucking long-range murder machine. It will kill most characters before they can outrange it.

Infest Murky should just swap the Grunty skin so the Zerg worm swings Murky around to hit things.

Just double checked myself. It happened around 12 minutes. And I did have a hat.
If he was hatted it might have gone the other way if their Aba had taken the attack speed upgrade and heal.
Zag can definitely melt him down though if he doesn't dodge all of your stuff and you have 2 hydras on him (that'd melt anyone quick-like). I always miss my banelings on Illidan.... he always jumps over me just as I throw them. >.<'

uh literally the best brightwing game i've ever played??? check those healing numbers yo. and dat exp, nom nom nom.

Today he responded and said the feedback is being heard. And sure enough, I look at his twitter and 1) multiple people are complaining about the same thing and 2) he's responding to like, all of them.
So uh wow, kinda floored that he responded really. I think most people in his position would've just like, ignored it.

The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.
You're talking about level 40's getting matched with/against level 10's (or maybe more accurately <25)?
It's a very real concern. Even though the whole idea of "Quick" matches, with the word Quick being the operative word, there needs to be some sort of stipulation to make games more fair for everyone involved. Fair for new players and veterans alike.

as you destroy the keep my minions... uh... fruitlessly wage an eternal war in the middle of the lane because no heroes are there.
well this is awkward.
So far, what I'm most proud of is meleeing a Murky egg down just before my team secured the kill.
Next time I plan to surround it with mines first.
and maaaaybe Ozzie if he does more drunken nonsense rather than actual complete sentences

Yeah, I saved your ass. I specifically remember that moment too. I fired off a spike at the illidan as well to get the kill I think.
Boomshakala.
Also note that was the game where Dibby was like "Hey you should turn quickcast on" and then I was all "Man what is this nonsense" then suddenly ALL THE DAMAGE

150 thousand.
Just all the damages.
I never get the level 20 upgrade, I always take the 20% AA range/speed.
I don't think that applies to Overkill does it? Seems kinda useless to me cause I assumed it didn't, like all the other AA upgrades.
And Laser Upgrade is a fucking long-range murder machine. It will kill most characters before they can outrange it.
