Boy, they sure curtailed the customization there. You still have a big range with the face and hair options, but otherwise everybody is fundamentally the same person. Your only choice is if you're 16 or 20.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
Somehow, the adult ringabels don't bother me, but the second generation ones do. Like the concept falls apart when I can point to a local location and say "that's where they grew up; that's where they are from."
Okay, picked up Donnel. The game does a pretty obvious hint hint nudge nudge when the dialogue is talking about seeing what Donnel is capable of. Hardest part of that mission was keeping my ranged away from the enemy archers and trying to corral them so Donnel/Kellam could come up and poke them to death. Now Donnel is paired with Kellam each battle, so the giant hulking suit of iron can take hits and then Donnel comes out for the kill + XP.
Just finished Chapter 5. Another merchant popped up on the map selling a second Master Seal so I got that. Now there's another paralogue and Chapter 6 to go through.
I'm fine with it, so long as all three games are each as large as Awakening was. If they are, I see that as 3x the Fire Emblem being released at the same time. Well, 2.7x the Fire Emblem since the first 6 missions are the same among all three versions.
So are they 2 full length campaigns or did they cut it in 2? And then add a third... but mainly are the first 2 complete <many hours> games like Awakening?
"For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men. Not women. Not beasts...this you can trust."
there's shared content but you're also looking at ~30 chapters unique to each side (this doesn't include the first few chapters, also, which are usually the shortest), plus most of the cast being exclusively recruitable on one end or the other (around 25 each, i think?)
there you go

I mean between the chapters and the extra stuff that wasn't in Awakening(like mycastle) seems to be more than enough content if you only play one side.
.I mean some will still complain about it no matter what, and yeah free is always better, but it doesn't look like they're pulling one over you.
Have they said how long til the neutral route will be available? The online multiplayer component seems like it'll be a lot of fun, if you're actually playing vs another person.
Awakening was 27 chapters and 17 (+6 Spotpass) paralogues, and put out a total of 25 DLC maps for £40. New 3DS games go for £30, so it was far too pricey in that regard.
Very disappointed in (character design spoilers):
The characters that resemble the popular kids from Awakening. I always find it a bummer to see such transparent pandering at the cost of creativity.
Apprehensive about the Castle stuff, waiting on clarification there. Status: Guarded expectation.

the third path is supposed to be sometime in july in japan, don't think they've said anything about a us date but I can't imagine there'll be a huge turnaround time, they're already taking a long while for the localization process.
if you've got specific questions about the castle, we already know a lot about the (non-localized) version at least? Might be able to address something in particular.
Eh, throwback character design has always been a thing. Jill from 9&10 (all-time favorite character) is a close rip of Minerva from 1&3. It's just more noticeable now.

Design related support (and sort of plot?) spoiler
They don't just resemble those kids. If I'm reading right, supports reveal that Owain, Severa, and Inigo went on a little vacation in the outrealms. They look like them because they are them.

A lot of pretty great designs. Adventurer is full of swagger.
I'm not even sure there'll be any viable international pairings for her. Guess we'll see!

Way lower across the board compared to Awakening.
just feelin' kinda pissy rn
Oh god...@Chen was right

there are 6 shared side chapters we know of, and 8 unique to each side
there also are probably more, there are a few recruitable characters no one has figured out how to get yet (probably spotpass based?)
so, 30 unique maps for each side, the size of Path of Radiance, or a little smaller than Awakening, for context
I'm expecting some significant overlap in places. There's no way they're all 100% different and as full featured as Awakening.
They already have the base engine from Awakening. That has to save some time.
Why I fear the ocean.

I'm saying they can't do Hector justice with derivatives
