are the originals still worth playing, or should I just get the Enemy Unknown complete pack?
You should go straight to the new ones. The old ones are important, but if you didn't play them on release all you're going to see is an obtuse game that wants you to lose and takes no steps to teach you its various systems. The new one, however, holds your hand just enough so that you understand why and how you've screwed up after the fact and can do better next time.

Or you should start from the old ones, because they don't penalize you as much for failing.

Or you should start from the new ones because it's a ton easier to fail in the old ones which leads to discouragement and quitting. Also, they haven't aged well at all. The controls are abysmal.

Just pointing out that we all have differing opinions, and the only way for him to find out is to just buy the game and play it, see if it works for his playstyle.
So I've been Steaming for a while, I have the 10 year anniversary badge and over 200 games in my library... but I don't really know how to get more than the 3-4 cards you get just from playing. Aside from buying others from the market, what do I do?

Every $10 you spend in the sale drops one, and if you craft a badge it should drop one (but it is not doing so consistently from my experimenting. I should probably have a dozen more cards than I do right now).

Unless you mean for the specific games in your library, at which point your only avenues as far as I know is the market or hoping for packs of cards to drop from Gaben-heaven.

@Raiden333 classily surprised me with Homeworld collection, and while I was still reeling from the giftblitz @staplerofpaper class attacked with Metro Last Light: Redux. I can't allow this classiness to go un-answered, if you want war, I'll give you war. Dawn of War that is!
Ahh hell how about I celebrate my new job with just a little more war, tiny bit more?
so as shady as the whole GTA5 thing was, it appears that Bethesda (or whoever was in charge of making this decision) may have actually broken the law by hiking the base price of Wolfenstein from $45 to $60 for the sale to make the discounts look more dramatic.
(c) The following is an example of a price comparison based on a fictitious former price. John Doe is a retailer of Brand X fountain pens, which cost him $5 each. His usual markup is 50 percent over cost; that is, his regular retail price is $7.50. In order subsequently to offer an unusual “bargain”, Doe begins offering Brand X at $10 per pen. He realizes that he will be able to sell no, or very few, pens at this inflated price. But he doesn't care, for he maintains that price for only a few days. Then he “cuts” the price to its usual level—$7.50—and advertises: “Terrific Bargain: X Pens, Were $10, Now Only $7.50!” This is obviously a false claim. The advertised “bargain” is not genuine.
Heh, didn't realize that basic Surgeon Simulator doesn't have some of the operations nor some of the game modes I promised to ace--they're in the anniversary addition.
Well just rectified that oversight with the current flash sale for .60.
Progress so far is I have 2/20 operations aced. Kidneys can be remarkably finicky to remove.

There is also OpenXcom. It's original Xcom but with stuff like tooltips, which takes like 90... ok 75% of the pain out of the interface. It also gives you stuff like custom base starts and has skirmish options so you can play around with tactical battles and git gud. It's not a mod or a fan patch, it's a complete reverse engineering of the game that fixes tons of bugs and brings in modern conveniences like individual loadouts for soldiers.
Check it out, all you need is some data files from UFO Defense and you are good to go. It's really quite good.
The game seems to have fixed itself and I'm excited to switch over to the PA team tomorrow to drag our DPS down with my highly efficient auto click spec. I still don't get why we're doing this but I've earned 4 badges through the game and I'm having fun which is all that really matters!
@Big Classy continues to not understand the meaning of proportionate retribution and hurls back the Heavensward expansion for FFXIV! Thank you very much!
EDIT: Wait I just looked a bit closer at it and realized it's actually the Collector's Edition! Thank you!
"Nobody", whoever lurks behind the mask, just hit me with Kings Bounty: Warriors of the North for mocking him/her by trying to reassure someone in chat "Don't worry, I accepted Nobody's friend request months ago, and I still haven't been gifted anything, it's not a death sentence"

So crazy, is this claim making the rounds outside of this thread?

A lot of people have been claiming it elsewhere, but usually for other (read: European) countries which have higher consumer protection laws.
So, it's dangerous accepting friend requests from people when there is a class war happening. But there is never a reason to turn down a friend that may be in need, especially during war time. Unless they fire an orbital laser at you.
So, apparently being an innocent bystander to a drive-by gifting means that now I am guilty according to @Big Classy and his nonsense reasoning. Thanks for Wyv Keep!
I got home and was having a discussion with my mother about this NAACP bullshit and how this woman could pass for years while black people like us get asked for our negro card every fucking time we disagree with another black person.
and then there was @Stolls
All is right with the world.
You people. Yes, you, @Berylline, with sending Chips Challange 1&2!
I don't know if people know the story behind this game, but I used to play it when I was dragged into my fathers work on weekends, and never even knew what it was. Nostalgia squeee, basically! And a new one, released after years or some of the more bizarre IP idiocy you're ever likely to hear about.
Meanwhile, Mrs @Pixelated Pixie is sending what she claims is homework, with TIS-100, in spite of a claim that she was completely defenceless due to Monies on cars.
@cardboard delusions has sent a cryptic message on "be the bread", along with I Am Bread, which I've wanted to play since it sent a streamer into some of the angriest spaces I think I've ever seen a human.

You can get a single use item off bosses, I think. That's how I've gotten the metal detector, at least.
Cool, I'll goof off with it in that case. I wont be able to buy anything this sale so I can't get cards that way. Glad I can still participate.
