This is probably a dumb question, but just to confirm: I shouldn't be getting any xp from the quest where I first learn about Ciri, right? It's the one where I learn to bow etc etc right before I go to Velen for the first time.

I'm confused. This whole Novigrad quest line has been kinda convoluted. I guess it doesn't help it took me probably a week of playing off and on so I probably forgot some minor details here and there. Also I still haven't found Dandelion so I don't know if that's gonna clear some stuff up. But there were like, six parties involved, Dijkstra lost his gold, Dandelion and Ciri took it for some reason to give to Whoreson who was working for Radovid who was also working with the witch hunters who were the ones who ended up with the gold (which I didn't find because I kinda maybe super killed Menge) and even though the quest says completed I feel like I left a ton of loose ends. Specifically with Cleaver, and the fact I never actually located the treasure.

As with a lot of things in this game, there are many paths through that quest and a lot of information that is hidden in documents or not fully understood until later.
For some important info, it's actually necessary that you have a conversation with Menge.

Yah, I kinda goofed at the meeting and the direct result ended in everybody but Triss and I being dead and everything else on fire. So I guess there's just some stuff I'm not going to know.
But I guess that's the beauty of this game. You can justify pretty much any decision you make in some way. In this case my assumption is that if I had left Triss to the witch hunters while I talked to Menge something bad could've happened to her before I could jump in. I may not know as much as I'd like at this point but if the info came at the cost of a friend then to me, it's probably not worth it
Why the fuck can't Ciri escape through the same window she came in through? I mean, she was able to make a 2m leap straight up just outside earlier, but now can't even grab onto the ledge from within?
EDIT: Oh, and right after that sequence, the woman hanging from the ceiling in junior's current room is highlighted red, but you can't examine her. Why?

Not really, in regards to Triss.
She specifically says, several times, that she can take care of herself and for you to PROMISE to respect her and her wishes, specifically being able to handle herself because she cares as much about Ciri and Dandelion as you and is a capable sorceress. If you don't respect her and barge in there like a knight in shining armor acting like she's a damsel that needs you, you flub the mission and show you don't believe in her at all. If you don't barge in, she handles it herself and you find out about Dandelion.

Was playing and my sword didn't automatically draw against some bandits. Shot my crossbow and it did like, tons of damage on an autoaimed bodyshot. Drew my sword and did the same thing and it did way less. Sheathed my sword, crossbow went back to doing extreme damage, like, 3x as much as it does when my sword is out.
I think crossbows do a ton more damage if your sword is sheathed. Not sure if it's a bug or not, but... I'd imagine it is.

I think you might be right as I was swimming and pulled out my Crossbow and was 1 shotting drowners underwater that were about 3 or 4 levels higher then me.
Not sure if thats intended.

Yeah, I think the damage is related to not having your sword out. Like, people have noted your crossbow does tons of damage underwater, but on solid ground it only does tons of damage with no sword drawn.
I imagine it's intended underwater so you'd have a way to deal with drowners and the like, not sure about on land.
On land, Crossbows are really intended for grounding flying enemies, but since Aard is right there, it doesn't see much purpose.
Because I can hit with a bolt from a huge distance away. Aard only has so much range.
To be honest, I've never ran into a situation where I felt that I should plink at faraway targets with the low-damage crossbow. However, that is also with the understanding that I also never bothered with alternate bolts either, so maybe they have more utility with new shit, I dunno.
More weirdness at aeramas abandoned ruins when I look at the map:
Says there's a cave entrance here under the house, but how do I get there? I've been through the entire dungeon via the portal already and got the sword.
Heard the proposition that RIAA and MPAA should join forces and form "Music And Film Industry Association"?
You don't get NO quest xp, it's just a limited number of quests that are broken.
I just don't stress it and I've been leveling up fine in my second playthrough.
I forgot about the bug and had been doing quests on the PS4 and I hadn't got an experience tick once. If it's not all quests it sure feels like it (and we're talking about a good range of quests here).

I assume your stamina ability is whirl? I haven't seen it in action.
It might be a bug that it works with Ekhinda Decoction. I just tried it with the Igni alternative, which drains stamina like whirl, and it gives no health. I'm not sure about rend.
Other normal stamina effects (jumping, signs and archgriffen decoction are what I tried) seem to give ~10% health. Which is still really broken. I think they should change it to 5%, and make it work only in combat.
But until/if they fix it: Chort Decoction gives you immunity to stagger. I kind of want to try it with Ekhidna and whirl. Just be an unstoppable tornado of death

Menge's the commander of the Witch Hunters for a reason - he's really good at seeing through bullshit. If you even just give unsatisfactory answers(there are a lot of dead ends in that conversation), you'll get into a fight as well.
Guy who uploaded the video complains about how broken it is, but Igni spec is even more broken. 200% Sign intensity with even only the bottom two Igni talents and most enemies just burn until they die with one Igni wave. No need to even get the alt cast. You can even burn Foglets through their cloak.

Intensity increases the chance of burning, so you don't even need that final talent if your intensity is high enough.
Igni plus Yrden and its alternate mode is even better. Slow everyone down, let them be repeatedly zapped by a lightning bolt, and set on fire all at once? Glorious.

Yeah but in the context of skull level reds like he's trying to fight, it sets even those on fire. 5 minutes dicking around with le overpowered decoction or 30 seconds standing there with one or two Igni casts.
It's affected by a few things, mainly level difference and type of enemy(i.e. golems and gargoyles will never burn), but also certain specific modifiers(for example there's one quest for a griffon that developed an affinity for fire, and will burn for maybe two ticks and break it)
Just finished and I loved everything about the ending. The last quest was really satisfying. Next play through will have to address certain choices as I didn't like some outcomes.
The writing throughout the whole game was top tier. You had to answer choices in the reality of the world that Geralt lives and the game would let you know without hesitation that the 'right' choice is often an illusion. Loved the lack of a good/evil system too.
Cannot wait for the expansion packs. CD Project Red is now up in that list of names I'll throw money at in bundles willingly.

I'm the one who uploaded that video and I don't use a sign build because it is equally broken.
Regardless, your comment isn't relevant, at all, to Ekhidna decoction. It doesn't become less overpowered and boring just because Igni is also overpowered and boring.
I'm actually planning to do a full sign build of all three games in the future.
I'm not really expecting it to be at all challenging in any way. In any game.

I didn't think the white frost was out of left field exactly (especially if you played the first game) but the ending was a little abrupt. Dunno what exactly Ciri did to stop it. I did like the ending overall, just that one part was strange.
I had a question about Ithlinne - was she Aen Elle? Was her prophecy specifically for the Witcher world, or for the Aen Elle world, or all worlds, or what? The White Frost seems almost like the Witcher version of the heat death of the universe, pretty big deal if Ciri did in fact stop it.

Sure, it might not be the most efficient skill in the game, but you get to do cool baddass witcher dances of death and it's so awesome.
