I think it's only something like 20gs. Not really a big deal unless you're going for all the achievements in the game. Which is something I don't think most sane people attempt?

    Well, not in gears.

My series completion percentage is 17. Once the MP dlc and achievements start rolling in... they're done. Though with BC and everyone getting copies of the older games, I may revisit some.

Unlocked one of the color blast skins over the weekend (swarm grenadier). I am using it but I may switch back to the default skins. A lot of the maps are dark enough that having HUGE BRIGHT VIBRANT COLORS may a tally be a tactical disadvantage. I know in my experience I have been able to pick out the color blast characters much more readily than normal ones. It's unfortunate because horde only lets you use the cog skins. If it is an issue if confusion and wasting resources such as ammo, I would think color blast deebees or swarm would stand out enough to be allowed.

Tried some co-op versus last night and was pretty disappointed. We kept getting the same game modes to vote on. Wanted to play dodgeball but it was never an option. Seems dumb you can't pick a mode and just play it for awhile.

Just received two codes on XBL. One for gow1 and the other for 2. Chose to redeem code 2 and it gave me gow1... when I try to fedeem code 1 it says its already been redeemed. No sign of any codes for judgment or 3 either. Kind of irritating.

So I also got a code for GOW1 and GOW2, despite having gotten a separate card for all four games (and having gotten them in GOWUE). If anyone wants them, PM me, first come first serve.

EDIT: GOW1 and 2 taken, still have GOW3 and Judgment.

Are there any books or comics planned for gears 4? I don't know if the last batch were considered canon or not, but I didn't read much of it. This time around I may dive in more actively

I asked Rod Ferguson himself at PAX and he said they were focused on relaunching the Gears franchise and that stuff like books and comics would come later. I'm guessing around Gears 5 time. (The first book and comic launched around Gears 2)

The comics and books are 100% canon (They even had the writer of the books write Gears 3 and take over writing the comic). Characters like Jace Stratton, Michael Barrick and Bernie Mataki started in comics/books. (Alex Brand too, but she only showed up as an MP character in Judgment)

The plot line with having to find Hoffman to get the data disc is directly set up in the books.

I forgot they did that with comic to game writer. Makes sense to focus for now and then grow from there.

Halloween comes to Gears of War 4!
    pumpkinball-theta-ce7621db3e4346dba41cd13771876c6c.jpg
The dead rise faster this Halloween.

We're excited to share the details of the first special event for Gears of War 4 - Pumpkin Ball!

Pumpkin Ball is a remix of Dodgeball that introduces 1 second respawn times and reduced respawn protection, resulting in a faster paced Dodgeball experience where the dead don't stay dead for long.

This social style playlist features 5 of the darker maps from Gears of War 4:

    Fallout
    Forge
    Harbor
    Impact
    Lift

Pumpkin Heads also make their Gears of War return exclusively in this playlist - now sporting a new mouth inspired by the look of our Juvies. As a special Halloween bonus, we've also turned on Bonus XP rewards in Pumpkin Ball - find this playlist in the ‘Events’ category under the Versus menu now!

There's also a special Halloween Elite Gear Pack that's exclusively Day of the Dead items; but it's not like they're giving you get a free one or anything, so meh.

Also, I got my codes last night. Yay

Somehow I managed to miss the fact that scouts double all power they pick up during the wave. I thought all the classes just had skill based abilities.

Trying to play a scout with random people is an exercise in futility though, people are always picking up power :bigfrown:

Yeah in my experience people pay no attention to class synergy and just play like everyone else is a bot. Scouts should grab energy, engineers should do most of the purchasing. Heavies have good turret buffs, etc.

I mean sometimes you accidentally grab energy near the end when collecting ammo and weapons but in general you can let scout get most of it.

Anyone here play on the PC? How does it perform? I liked Gears 1-3, but don't own an Xbox One (yet...). Is it worth me picking up on the PC or should I just hold off until I get an Xbox One?

Depends on your PC; if you have a beefy enough machine, it'll look better on PC.

770GTX. It's not beefy, but I'm more worried about the standard bugs that plague PC ports... CTDs, complete slow downs, no graphics options, etc.

From what I've heard, the PC version is pretty solid. Dunno if it'll run well on a 770 though.

770 benches at about 40-50fps on ultra (CPU/RAM notwithstanding), so you can turn some things down or apply a frame cap and probably get solid performance.

I just upgraded to a brand new machine after almost exactly 6 years with my previous rig. It was fairly high-end when I bought it, but I'm still surprised it was going strong all this time. It was only in the past year or so that I really started running into games it couldn't meet specs for.

That said, the new machine has a 1070 in it that got me a free copy of Gears 4. If I ever manage to finish the 73GB download, I look forward to checking it out with all the bells and whistles. It's been a while since I could do that, especially with a demanding game. Hell, I can't wait to run the GoW4 benchmark and bask in the glory of a new rig while I still can.

Also, the game has a dynamic resolution option on the PC, so you can set a framerate target and the game will automatically dial down the res for you in realtime to maintain performance when things get heavy. It's damn solid stuff.

The first set of new maps is due out soon.

Two Gears of War 3 classics, Drydock (meh) and Checkout (probably one of the all-time most liked Gears maps)

Maps will be added to the public playlists on November 8th. IIRC, Season Pass owners get access sooner.

EDIT: They get added to the Developers playlist on the 1st, along with a title update.
    Title Update November 1 2016

    New Maps

Two new maps will be added to the developer playlist on November 1st for Season Pass owners and will be available in standard rotation and private games on November 8th for everyone.

The Developer Playlist will contain Versus Dodgeball and Arms Race modes for squads up to three large and Horde players on Normal difficulty.

    Weapon Tuning Changes
(These changes may occur a few hours after the Title Update hits. We will update people once these go live.)

We have made some changes to the Competitive Lancer and Gnasher. The goal was to try to smooth out the damage falloff to provide a more consistent feel, without sacrificing the skill.

    Lancer

Very short range damage has been slightly reduced.

    Gnasher

Very short range damage slightly reduced.
    Short range damage slightly increased.
Active damage boost ratio slightly increased to offset damage reduction.
    Stopping power completely removed.

Hammerburst body damage has been significantly reduced in Core tuning. Headshot damage has only been slightly reduced to maintain the skill of the weapon.

    Body damage significantly reduced.
    Headshot damage slightly reduced.
Active reload cooldown increased by 2 seconds.

Fixed an issue where Escalation weapon respawn timers would sometimes not be consistent

All secondary weapons (minus the Longshot) are at 60s respawns.
The Longshot, Shock and Incendiary grenades are at 90s respawns.
All power weapons are at 120s respawns.

    Windows 10
**Please make sure to update your Windows OS to Build 14393.222 or later for the game to update. You will not be able to get the update and online games will stop working if this is not done**

Execute and Point of Interest keys can now have the same key binding on Windows 10.
Windows 10 version now displays the version number on main menu.
Users can now rebind Spectator Mode controls on Windows 10.
Abnormalities to the UI on high resolution displays have been addressed.
Mouse and Keyboard users can now switch weapons during countdown at the beginning of the round.
Windows 10 players can now have true offline LAN lobbies.
Average FPS has been now incorporated to the benchmark screen on Windows 10.
    Added in game language selection.
Roadie run turn rate on Windows 10 is now a consistent rate instead of reduced when holding the forward key.
Pickup and drop fortifications has been moved to the “Q”/Mark Target key bind instead of “C”/Point of Interest on Windows 10.

    Xbox One

Players can now turn on HDR Split-Screen Visualization in the options menu on Xbox One.
HDR calibration has been optimized for Xbox One users.

    Xbox One and Windows 10

Team Reviving with players on turrets no longer causes stacking skills in Horde.
At times the gnasher would fire rounds that would not register or expend ammo despite audio and visual FX. This has been addressed.
Ammo crates would sometimes not appear in TacCom in Horde. This has been corrected.
Players who get a kill right after you die in Dodgeball will now be able to count toward a respawn for your team including yourself.
Escalation will now display COG/SWARM DOMINATION when a victory was made from a Domination.
The EMBAR at times could continuously be used in Arms Race after your team has switched to the next weapon. This has been addressed.
Bonus supply crates will now fall in accessible areas even when the Fabricator is placed along walls.
Users will no longer receive objectives in bounties by killing meat shields.
Leader in Guardian will now always be rewarded to the user who killed the prior rounds Leader.
Players should now be able to pick up all power drops in Horde.
Players will no longer appear invisible if they are saved from a Snatcher.
Players can no longer roadie run before countdown.
Bots will be a bit more difficult in Social Versus backfilling
Shock grenades will no longer auto refill after each Horde wave.
Addressed an issue that sometimes allowed for Horde private matches to not start up.
Fixed an issue in which flying enemies could drop power on high ground areas that were inaccessible by the player.
Addressed an issue where players would sometimes not be able to play co-op campaign with another friend.
Removed score from repairing in Horde.
Fixed a few bounties not awarding proper XP values
Fixed an issue where players could push other players out of bounds on Lift.
PC and Xbox One can now play cross play on LAN.
Added Iberian Spanish in-game and cinematic voice over

Addressed numerous miscellaneous map and bug fixes.

    Future Updates

    Gears Pack Feedback

We are going to have an update on Gears Packs. One large piece of feedback we are looking at including is the removal of duplicate cards appearing in packs that need it. We do plan on keeping them in some packs where they make sense (ie: Horde Booster Packs).
Future Community Holiday Event packs (Gearsmas, etc) will always have a credit path to obtaining them.
We will have more details on this here in the very near future.

    Player Penalties

We are still looking into the player penalty fixes. This did not make it in this Title Update. We are exploring if we can get this without a Title Update. We will keep you posted on this as it is a big focus for us.

    Horde Leaderboards

We will be wiping the Horde leaderboards sometime after TU1 to ensure players can compete for. We will have more news on when this occurs.

    Footstep audio

This is being worked on and should be in the next Title Update.

    Competitive/Core Lobbies

This is a larger update that will take a bit but we still have this planned for a future Title Update.

PC Crossplay Testing in a Special Event Playlist

We are hoping to conduct a test on this in November. This will be a separate event playlist for people on both platforms to join. We will see what backend telemetry after the weekend and consider what we can do in the future.

Ranks/Horde Icons not appearing in scoreboards

This is still planned for a future Title Update.

    Grenade Spawning Fix

Another issue we have a fix for in the next Title Update. It didn’t make this round of testing.

    Campaign Achievement Issues

We have a fix for this in Title Update 2. It will require users to complete the same campaign item that they did not complete to trigger it but they can continue from the checkpoints that they have obtained prior to do so.

Some additional Windows 10 features coming

Vertical Split Screen and Ultra Wide HUD scaling are coming to Windows 10 in the next Title Update.
Patching on Windows 10 is a better experience now. Cyphos will have a post regarding that later this weekend.

If I'm reading this right, apparently, you don't need the ultimate edition to get the Gears of War 360 games.
As long as you buy Gears4 soonish you get the previous 360 games.
