It's being ported to PS4 and now iOS. It was basically the biggest troll in gaming history at PSX last year, Hashimoto teased a remake and then unveiled a god damn port of the PC version.
Well, that was Nintendo's showing. Interesting games, nothing to wow about or surprising. Pretty much everything in there we knew or suspected, and the Chibi metroid is kinda odd, but I suppose they need to keep the brand alive somehow after the absolutely fucking ASININE last game.
Now where is the Square conference being streamed?
Square Enix wanted to confirm that they are still masters of trolling.
I think they're doing this stuff deliberately to make sure the pop is as good as it can be for the actual videos given that the rumours indicated this stuff would be here.
i.e. make it look like the rumours were wrong by showing off something first that's close to it. Only to show the actual thing straight after.

The remake is 2 years away at best and Square love to milk their old catalogue. After the announcement of FF7 remake it's basically free money as they'll cash in on nostalgia and people wanting to know what the FF7 buzz is all about over the next few months.

Sony haven't ported the PS1 emulator to PS4 (yet) and the PC version is the only one they can port because the original assets weren't preserved (which is how game development worked in Japan in the 90s, you finish a game and then throw away the assets, not thinking that you'd one day need them again).
On the one hand, yay for Platinum getting plenty of work!
On the other, nearly everything they're doing is making everyone else's games, which is a slight bummer. Ah well, gotta do what you gotta do to survive this crazy new world, I guess.
I'm a little worried that they might be spreading themselves too thin, if they're making this many games all at once.
Heck, take Star Fox for example. People are wondering why they weren't being credited. I'm more alarmed by the fact that if nobody had said anything... nobody would have even noticed. There's zero Platinum flair in the game. It just looks like standard Star Fox to me. Which isn't a dig against Star Fox. Just that I guess Platinum is doing nothing but working to a blueprint. To put it another way, it looks like the game could be made by anybody. Telling me it's Platinum is now doing nothing for me.

Remake is probably like 3 years away at least, so probably not. It's not like it would take a lot of work to port it really.
