Level 60 get! And I Just landed on what I assume is the last planetmoon in Revantimes.
So gearingwise I assume I run my dailies and get those lvl60 blue comms and trade them in for the mid quality tier stuff, try to queue for the weekly to get those for double plus good items. For my weapon I guess I am boned unless I get an Operation drop? My current stick dropped in solomode something or other and i filled it with lvl55 vendor mods. Is there a daily at the end ofthe last bit or osmehitng that grants gear mods like Ilum back in the day?
Also, planetary comms.. I'd like to deck my companions out in that tier of gear is there a suggested method of procurement? Since the daily flashpoints grant bluecomms it seems the only way is a slow trickle of low level dailies.
But solowise, I enjoyed the Revan missions thus far, cant wait to do some outlander junk.
Once you're done on Yavin 4, you can open up a pair of weekly missions that'll net you Lv-192 gear for your companions; armor set-packs complete with implants and earpieces for the first mission and weapons for the second, all Legacy-tagged. A daily at Rishi will net you the missing off-hand items.
Yeah I' ve been working the Rishi offhand thing for them, glad theres other things I can grab. Granted its all moot once I take that carbonite nap when the expac drops. Should probably focus my efforts on finishing Femshep Trooper or finally get an agent going to check that jazz out.

So I was cruising the GTN, threw up a random search for Revan stuff.
SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY LISTED THE REVANITE CHAMPION SET FOR 100K.
AND I BOUGHTS IT.
I EVEN HAD TO SWITCH TO A CHARACTER THAT HAD THE MONEY
BUT HOLY SHIT. The super rare set that was only available for a limited time in a one time special pack. Going for 20 MILLION, right NOW, I BOUGHT FOR 100K
THIS MAKES UP FOR ALL THE BAD PULL LUCK IN RECORD KEEPER AND MY PACKS.
I remember that feeling. Back when I still went preferred for long periods of time, most of the hawkeye crystals that go into your collection were 400k or more. Then I found one for 100k. I almost felt guilty.
You must feel an order of magnitude cooler right now.
Mind you, this makes me wish that the outfit system extended to companions too. I'm quite reluctant to swap out the gear for my Warrior's apprentice to the 192-gear seeing it doesn't really suit them.

You should keep going onto Ziost after Yavin. Ziost will leave you with a nearly full set of 190 gear. The 190 mods are blue , but don't let that fool you. They're pretty close in stats to the purple 192 stuff and better than 186 stuff you can get with basic comms. The Ziost quests will give you an offhand and all armor but for wrists and belts. You can use the tokens that you pick up while questing to buy the wrists and belt from the vendor on the Ziost station. 190 Ears and implants drop from some of the Ziost mini-bosses.
The one thing you can't get from Ziost is a mainhand barrel/hilt. Your best bet is to hit the AH and buy a 186 purple. 192 purple barrel/hilts are on the AH, but they're much, much more expensive.
Anyway, the Ziost gear will get you started in FPs and SM Ops. Ziost has a set of dailies, too, so you can grind more tokens if you want more 190 gear. The stat distribution on the quest rewards isn't necessarily great, so you can run dailies to buy more pieces in order to get the mods/enhancements you need to fix your state balance.
TL;DR: there's no reason to grind out elite comms for 192 gear. Gear up on Ziost.

You have no idea how guilty I felt when the high of buying it wore off. I wasn't even paying attention at who was listing it, I just went "BUY NAO!!!".
I actually felt bad enough to give it back...We've all made listing fuckups, but that was something special. I KNEW the poor dude meant 10 million, he just wasn't paying attention for that split second.
But since I don't know the name of who listed it, it would be a needle in a haystack finding the person, and even then I couldn't determine if they were lying or not.
I once picked up some gear for about 10% of what it was worth, but karma came to even things out cause I didn't log on to that character for a month after trying to flip it and the mailbox ate it.

Note: if you're a cheap bastard, you may want to hold off on finishing off Ziost until you've collected your earpiece and implants from the elites. Otherwise you'll have to wait until you accumulate enough Ziost markers to afford them, and you're capped at something like 5/day/character, which can be a little irritating.
On the other hand, the elites drop a fair bit of coin (8-11K) so many people farm them, which can make it irritating when you are trying to farm them.
So, whichever way you prefer.

I am at a loss as to what to do to get back into the game; I have some characters on Rishi atm but I haven't decided which to go with yet.
Are there a lot of side things to do on Rishi beyond just the main mission that sends you there?
Just a few dailies and an Operation that I think is simply a boss-fight. However, one of the dailies hooks you up with an Legacy off-hand of your choice for one of your Companions.
Just re-started the snuggler...again. Going to see if I can just stealth blitz ONLY class missions and see if I can ride it all the way to 50. It's going to seriously trip my unfinished quest OCD, but I keep bailing after the early part of the game and am eager to actually see the 50-60 stuff.

Got Juggy McJuggypants to 55 last night, still working on Makeb, though I think I'm pretty close to done. Does the 12x XP for story missions continue in to Revan-land?

Are you subbed? If so, the 12x XP modifier on class missions will mean you are almost certainly OVER leveled most of the game. My Guardian has been 2-3 levels ahead of everything for a while now, just doing the class missions.

Yeah, I've had to abuse the hell out of the forged alliances solo flashpoints on my new characters, because it was real hell for my old characters who were unable to do that.
If you're Imperial, it may be worth doing Ilum first since the start of Makeb references it a bit.

A little bit, but I didn't do any of Ilum on the jug, and I didn't feel too lost in Makeb...it references me being the Wrath a lot, but I mean, I am, so you know.

You can game the quest rewards on Makeb to get a couple of extra levels out of it, though. When you hit 54, stop turning in the main Makeb missions quests (when the quest reward window appears, just press the X in the corner instead of accepting the reward). That will leave that quest as pending, but will still let you continue on to the next quest. You'll be able to have either 3 or 4 pending quests before it will accept them all. If you accept all those pending quests when you're 54, you'll get 12x for them and that should jump you straight to 57.

I'm almost 56 already, and not done with Makeb...though I think I'm on the last couple of quests now.
Which is a shame because even using the exp boosters you've gotten leading up to it you'll often end at 59
If you do the thing I just mentioned about queueing up Makeb quest turn-ins when you're 54, you should be able hit 57 before even starting Forged Alliances. The optimal leveling path under 12x XP is...
1. Level on class quests till you hit 47.
2. Start Makeb.
3. When you reach 54 on Makeb, stop accepting the quest rewards until it forces you to.
4. When you're forced to accept your pending Makeb rewards, you should ding 57.
5. Finish Makeb and/or your class quest if you want.
6. Do Forged Alliances.
7. Do Shadow of Revan.
8. Do Ziost.
I've done this several times on my recent alts and I've dinged 57 before finishing Makeb and then 60 at the end of Rishii or the beginning of Yavin. YMMV because of stuff like guild XP bonuses, rest XP, and XP boosters, though.

You also get a shitload of XP for exploring Makeb with the GSI satellite thing; I'd suggest holding off exploring Makeb until you get to step 4, and then explore the whole map.
So companion-related datamined spoilers have appeared. I honestly don't think that they're all that spoiler-y, in story terms. The mention of the mechanics of how companions will work, though, seems like it's completely new stuff. Anyway...
All companions appear to have their combat role selected from a dropdown. This means that every companion appears to be capable of healing, tanking, or pew-pewing.
Apparently if you try to play a proper Jedi and eschew emotional responses like pity in favor of cold rationality, you're headed straight to the Dark Side in SWTOR.
My Jedi Shadow is already Dark II at level 20 despite making choices I'd think a good Jedi would make.

Got my Jug to 56 last night, and then got about 3/4ths of the way to 57 finishing the Makeb exploration with the GSI buff. So I didn't quite make 57 before starting SoR, but I think I got close enough I shouldn't run in to the stuck at 59 thing (hopefully). Unfortunately I was already 55, so I couldn't use the quest storage trick...but I'll keep that in mind on later characters.

Well that's because the prequel Jedi didn't know what the fuck they were talking about, as evidenced in Return of the Jedi, and they had to get that shit from somewhere.
I'm not sure if we're meant to get the impression that the jedi order in TOR is already stagnant and corrupt, but a lot of the 'instruction' you get in the knight/consular stories certainly supports that idea

Dear Satan.....
but a lot of that stuff is obvious from the previous story anyway, and from the ilum FPs
plus ilum itself is super monotonous to quest on

There's lots of things that are fascinating in that article. The thing that made me laugh, though...
That's amazing. The SWTOR writers are clearly terrified of their fanbase.
