Not really getting the hate. I mean yeah, getting all the companions is a pain in the ass, but you don't need ALL the companions. The completionists can do that, meanwhile I'm just yanking up the companions I actually like. The rest can stay lost.
Again, the actual problem is that future companions that you want may be locked behind doing the quests for the ones you dont

It's because you can't get more companions if you have an active companion quest. So if I, say, left Lokin to rot forever, I'd never be able to pick up Gus Tuno or Blizz when they become available. And that would be criminal.

I've skipped out out on the PVP companions because of this, though I'm going to be annoyed if that locks me out of future companion quests.
And somewhat ironically, I've been running up the affection on companions I don't particularly care about. That way, they become my crafting drones while my favorites are available to quest with me.

It blocks whatever that contact's next companion quest is

Can you abandon the quests for the companions you don't want?
Yeah, but some of them are in a chain. So if you abandon/don't finish the one for companion A, you can't go on and get companion B because it's part of that chain.

It doesn't free up the contact for me. Just keeps offering the same companion.
just finished the consular story and I have to say this is probably the most underrated class story in swtor, every since release i have been reading about how it's boring and shit but i really wanted a shadow so I thought well I'll survive/space bar through it
and while the prologue with hunting down those datacrons isn't all that great I loved the rest of it, chapter one is okay, the plague is kinda unconnected to the rest of the story but it's a nice little mystery story putting together what exactly happened and why it effects those jedi and like said before going light side on this one is great, talking sith out of attacking me is just hilarious and alderan sets up the other two chapters with you being able to influence the politics of it
but then chapter 2 and 3 were just amazing, I loved the whole thing with the rift alliance, working with those politicians, helping them with their issues and getting an army for the republic in return and then in chapter 3 on belsavis you get the fucking Esh-Kha to fight for the republic, the race that made the rakata shit their pants and you get them to fight for you, at least a portion of them and on voss you get an OP mystic and commandos to also join you, well they say they are going to learn about dark and light but the next quest they are shooting imperials so I consider that to be a win for the republic ^^ and of course the final confrontation on corellia where you use all those forces against the imperials, I can just imagine some poor imperial soldier that survived belsavis going "omg wtf are those things doing here!" and through all that you have the emperors children plot line
so yeah, probably one of my favorite stories so far and I have to say it's no wonder the empire lost on corellia, both the consular and trooper spend the third chapter collecting troops for the war and gathering various allies while the two sith classes are dicking around against other sith
So I've only started the consular story (didn't read your spoiler), but so far I agree. It's about... doing consular stuff! The inquisitor storyline failed conclusively to be about inquisiting, so when the consular was about seeking knowledge, researching things etc I was happy. I'm hoping there'll be diplomacy etc as it goes on, and that it'll generally stay away from the Knight themes.

Pretty sure there was a dev post saying they were looking into this for the future releases.
I only just noticed, but this week begins double xp, which will last until Jan 1.
Double xp? Blimey! My smuggler has just become eligible for the Rise of the Hutt Cartel breadcrumb quest and he is still only finishing up the storyline on Quesh! I guess they really want to get people up to the point where they can hit the Fallen Empire content.
Which, actually, does kinda make sense I guess
It's all saltwater these days:
Ocean, tears and heartbreak soup
Half alive in a whitecap foam
Half in love with a white half moon
So I did my first operation with the guild I joined. I can see why they might not do too many more of them, but they are pretty fun with a good group.
I'm also enjoying the Smuggler story, pretty fun being able to just stealth through everything.

Going through the later content on yet another character, and it occurs to me that I really like how well Lana's signature "May the Force ever serve you" fits as a sith counterpart to the Jedi's "May the Force be with you." It gets the philosophical difference in their usage of the force just right, without being drizzled in the stereotypical I am sith watch me be evil sauce.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Before the the release of KotFE, I read a lore nerd posting saying that this was evidence that Lana was a actually Zakuul plant, since she said it ritualistically but no other Sith in the game did.
But yeah, it definitely works for Sith of a utilitarian mindset.
Corellia Republic side is a shit show. It's my favourite planet on Imperial.
what's wrong with it on rep side? I always rather liked it, you mean story or just general gameplay reasons?
plus you get to grind the imps into dust and I think you kill some 2 or 3 dark council members in the process
It might just be the mindset I was in when I was playing it, but I found it super overlong and arduous. There was a ton of travel and not a lot of memorable moments. I guess fighting Decimus was neat, but only because I knew him from the imperial side.
Republic Corellia, I felt, had a good planet story that was severely hindered by the actual planet design of Corellia. There should have been far more open avenues of movement. Way too many situations where the place you needed to go forced you to follow a path in the opposite direction and do a massive amount of circling around.
New movie seems to be bringing people into the game pretty well. More than a hundred people on each of the starter planets on my server. Can't remember the last time I've seen them so crowded.

Perhaps, but it's also somewhat kept me from playing it since that movie came out. There's a lot of stupid or trolly people that would spoil in general chat. I've just kept the tab minimized, but it was a little too annoying to deal with at first.
Yeah I would mute general chat if you haven't already.
It's a little annoying to me that every time I start a new character I have to set up chat again and change several preferences from the defaults.

I started back up over with a one month subscription because having a crippled interface or having to buy little bits and pieces from the cartel market can just go die. Fumbled around for an hour or two trying to figure out what spec is closest to what I had before quitting and then trying to find the breadcrumb to start the Makeb quest. Turns out that it doesn't show up until you either hit 51 or finish the Corellia quest which I hadn't done on my Smuggler.
Also re-started my Inquisitor to try and get the hang of the mechanics, also because that is one of the two storylines I hadn't completed to chapter 3 and as an excuse to get a Torgutan to 50.
The bonus is that at least on the majority of my republic characters have good raid gear for a 50 so I can try to stock up on whatever the new currencies are instead of the green gear they're offering as quest rewards.
Still need to get into the new crafting, strongholds and ship missions, but I can only take so much learning in one day.
I'm now level 30ish (double xp! hooray!) on my infiltration shadow, and unfortunately the playstyle just isn't clicking for me. It seems to be just "attack until force breach is up, then breach" and the animations and sounds aren't as satisfying as other classes (notably operative). I'm not sure if (like sentinel) it suddenly picks up later down the track after certain powers are unlocked or if it's just a bad pick. Are the other specs radically different?

Monday. The Life Day event only lasts the week.
I stand by the first two chapters being garbage though
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
Seems like thats no longer a concern. And HK can now do everything. Works for me.

I've been using him in tank stance, and he transforms whenever combat starts.
The website says it'll go until the 5th.
Yeah, you're right. 2 weeks.
