    Just started playthrough B
I stupidly clicked on the SPOILER FREE gaf thread before starting and the first thing I saw was "playing as 9S is so cool." And am so pissed it got spoiled. Serves me right for straying from this thread. Glad it's immediate though so I didn't have to live with the spoiler for that long.

The first 5 minutes of it is super, super wild.

If I had one nagging complaint so far, its that crafting material/drops aren't listed in the bestiary.

Found a guide but still, its less spoiler risky to just be able to find this info ingame.

My guess is that it slipped their mind after they made every single material purchasable.

I knew there was going to be a shop but I thought you could only buy some of them and only later on.

Thats awesome though if true. Forget farming this shit.

Things unlock as you progress, and you will have to side quests, but absolutely everything is purchasable by the time you really need it.

I spent far too much time this evening messing around with trying to get the FAR mod and SweetFX/ReShade to work together but was unable to. I'm failing to understand changing to names of some DLL files so that FAR and SweetFX/Reshade works, but I couldn't make any sense of which DLL's to rename.

FAR works but it's finicky with OSD stuff from external programs and doesn't play nice with Discord. Edit: Steam's FPS display is now working. I'm still seeing some occasional hitching dropping me from 60fps down to 55'ish. I may try going back to windowed to see if the same thing happens.

Here's hoping the game get's patched and no one has to deal with any of this anymore. I might just go back to running the game in windowed mode with Borderless Gaming running in the background.

Hoo boy, now THAT was a boss fight! I love the soundtrack to this game, and having the robot voices in the background chanting "this cannot continue!" while you wail on their robot love baby was incredible. Also, watching him level up as you beat on him and get way more powerful was really neat, I loved it!

You can get it on Playthrough/Route B. You'll find out why.

Also for the record, this is also how you'll be able to access those locked chests

Looks like you and are on the same section. I played that last night. I have a question:
Did I... did I just crash a robot orgy? Is that what was happening? I feel weird.

Also, can someone tell me the right way to say this game's name? I've heard people say "Nigh-er" and "Near."

Question about side quests, with main story spoilers for the area after the Village...
I had some side quests to do, such as Sartre's Melancholy and 11B's memento. I had already visited all the robots in love with Jean-Paul, and got their gifts for him. When I went back to the Machine Village, I first turned in the main story mission to give Pascal some oil, which immediately launched the next main story element with the assault on the city core by the goliath. At that point, the game would not let me complete Sartre's side quest and the markers for other side quests like 11B's memento disappeared off the map. I now have a main story mission to explore the caved-in city center and my side quest markers are still absent. Have I missed out on these side quests, or will I be able to complete them later?

I think you'll be able to complete them after you take down the [REDACTED]. It's a big moment in the game so it kind of stops everything else for the time being. But if you were doing the Jean Paul quest before you unlocked fast travel then the game is doing you a favor anyway :P.

That point locks you out of a number of side quests. But eventually, you'll get (minor mechanic spoiler)
access to a chapter select that will let you go back and complete any missed quests.

Yoko Taro directs the best death scenes. Just so moving in their graphic violence and camera framing.

NieR, Automata and Drakengard 3 all had scenes that just stick in your head because of how great the dialogue, pacing and actual deaths are.

    Playthrough A ending spoiler:
The way 2B just runs Eve through the head was such an amazing contrast to choking 9S. It really highlighted the fact she clearly has emotions and her own personal feelings now.

Which made the ending that much creepier.

this is the second time in 24 hours I've seen someone call the absolute dumpster fire that was the writing in Drakengard 3 as "great"

I am not comfortable with this

I don't think the writing was great, overall.

I think the directing in the death scenes was pretty great, and some of it enhanced by the dialogue around those scenes alone. The camera angles and sound in them is always really memorable.

As someone who was in love with NieR, and didn't even BELIEVE a NieR 2 was possible - I clung to Drakengard 3 as "well, this is the best we can do I guess" and was largely dissapointed.

I'm just glad I'm getting my fill of side questing with Horizon. When I start playing this game full time, I will have to completely change my playstyle and ignore the sidequests for a while...

You will need all the weapons for endings C and D. Feel free to look up how and where to get them (I'm like 90% sure the worst that could spoil is some side quests). If you start feeling side quest fatigue, just Google which ones are needed for weapons and do those.

The Phoenix Spear is the best weapon in the game so use it for subsequent playthroughs to just fly through everything.

This game is bonkers in the way that only a game made by a Japanese developer could be.

Just finished the amusement park and the underground cave tonight.

    Underground cave spoiler
Love that the aliens are already dead and some machines are peaceful. Not sure what's up with Adam/Eve other than they seem crazy. The 2D boss fight with them was pretty cool.

    So funny thing about that
I actually had to leave to take my dogs outside for a few minutes right when the game was making me adjust brightness settings. So when I got to that part, I had to just sit and wait for about 10 minutes to pass until the game would continue on.

    I think I
checked my phone or something near the end of that sequence. There was about a minute of nothing while I waited for my previous self to just hit Accept.
