Thinking about picking this up on PC...some reviews were less than kind of the port. Does it work alright on KBAM? I have a 360 controller lying around I could use too, but I typically stick to KBAM where possible.
Just as a counterpoint, I'm playing on KBAM and finding it manageable. It's definitely made for controllers, but I just can't really use them, so KBAM's been serving me fine on normal so far (albeit after remapping Skill 1 to tab, Walk to shift, and Pod Fire to ctrl), plus FAR.

noticed Green Man had the PC version for 23% off today. Even though this isn't reaaally my type of game the Giant Beastcast kinda sold me on it today while listening.
I don't know what happened, I think I blacked out for a minute, but now I see that my steam seems to be downloading Nier....

bah, totally got Ending W on the first boss fight and had to reply the damn 45 min prologue. That's kinda shitty how that works.
1am but managed to get to the first save point. Now I must sleep
I really really really hope they are better about letting me save my game in the future, I have 2 small kids and not a ton of free game time. If you can only save every hour or so that's gonna be a big problem for me

Access Points (which provide areas where you can save) are fairly plentiful, and if you're going out into zones where there aren't many around, the game will communicate that to you (and so far even those are just a quick run back to civilisation for saving).

Yeah, the intro is an anomaly in that regard. Most of the time you're only ever a few minutes' run from being in range of a save point.
Alright, so Route C is in the bag. The last bit was getting a bit rough in the staying alive department, but swapping out my Movement Ups for Deadly Heal and Offensive Heal solved that problem neatly. Man, this game has been a hell of a ride, and continues to do a great job keeping me engaged (the only reason i didn't immediately jump into Route D is that i have to get ready for work in a minute).
One thing though; i was taking a look at a spoiler free trophy site, 'cause i actually do want the Plat for this one. It said that there are a few missable bits
One of the parts necessary for fully upgrading all the pods, and Ending Y
i don't know if they meant those were missable on a single playthrough, but you could get them on another, or if they're one shot and one shot only. i didn't want to dig too deeply, i still want to stay relatively spoiler-free, even this deep in. Obviously i'm hoping it's the first, though. i'll eventually do a full run from scratch, but if i could do a clean sweep on this file, it would be nice.
I feel like it's a commentary on trophies being kind of meaningless
As far as dick measuring goes, sure; but, especially with the ps4's auto-screenshots they're kind of fun, i think. It amuses me for some reason, that Death Rattle was the last chip i needed to pop that trophy.
There's a lot going on in this game. Got through to the village and set up the pod for mainly a high drop rate and auto heal play style. Really digging the chip system.
Was playing with chapter select, picking off endings i'd missed, figured i'd get D/E tonight, so i could do some work with P5 tomorrow.
so, i decided to help someone in the world, after the E credit scrawl (which was awesome, by the by). i figured there was a better than even chance all my data would actually get deleted. Still, it was a hell of a thing to watch it happen. Well, i did say i'd do a fresh replay eventually
I erased it, though. I'd feel like a callous dick if I refused to help someone else just so I could go achievement hunting,
Have to wonder how the first people to hit the credit sequence got through. That shit got bananas.
I don't think it's that hard to imagine.
They would have at least put in enough default & Developer names to be able to get through it. Because some people might not have an internet connection

wait, what now? your pod can heal you? i'm on my way to the dessert area, first big mission of the game i guess? I don't seem to have any new pod abilities

I think he meant he set up his chips for auto heal since he mentions high drop rate as well since they are both chips.
So, i just reread through the thread so i could look at all the spoilers, and something popped up that i wanted to ask about.
Starting Route B Mechanics spoilers
So, folks had mentioned about the options you get when you ninja hack robots, specifically that you could read the options there. Well, whenever i hacked anything, chests, enemies, my self, all the pop up text was garbage text like Naphtali had mentioned happening in their options screen. Since it was consistent, i thought it was supposed to be like that (like maybe hacking was introducing corruption into your system). But...maybe not? i wonder if it'll be like that when i do a fresh playthrough.
Also, as an aside, when folks were talking about handling the Golden Robots many, many pages back? And it was mentioned that "hacking" was the best method to kill them? When that came up, i still hadn't gotten to Route B, i assumed hacking as in "hack 'n slash." 'cause i spent something like a half-hour whittling the damned things to death when i first came up on them in the Flooded City. When i finally did get the ability to hack, and realized my mistake, i just laughed and laughed.

9S is super strong. He feels like a crutch.
The text is supposed to be readable, though.

I hardly ever even hacked anything with 9S, except the super durable gold enemies and things like them. His charge attacks are super strong, I'd just javelin dudes to death at long range.
Huh, well, i guess it was just something weird going on with my game then. It wasn't really an issue. i didn't find myself using that ability much, 'cause it was more fun whompin' on enemies myself.
So...i was going to use my before work time today working on my LBPseries, and playing P5. That was the whole point of trying to wrap up the main routes last night. Annnd, of course, morning comes around to find me starting up a fresh Nier game.
Don't get me wrong, P5 is really good, and i'm enjoying it a lot. It's just...Nier's got it's hooks in me. This go, i'm trying to knock off the gag endings as they come up, instead of doing most of them in a block later on. Also i want to put in a little more time with the chip/fuse system, i feel like i was only using it in its bluntest form last time.
Also also, popped this one trophy (you know the one)...man, i felt like a hella creeper.
I finished route A and started B this weekend. I really enjoy this game. My only real complaint is that at times I want the game to feel like a CAG because it's a platinum game but it leans harder into the RPG side, which is okay. It's too visually noisy to be a good CAG anyway, a lot of times there's so much visual clutter on screen that I have to dodge proactively because I can't see an enemy's tells through all the noise anyway.
Favorite chip has to be auto heal, the one that heals you after not taking damage for 6 seconds. I pretty much was able to stop ever using healing consumable once I got a decent auto heal chip.
I suppose I should probably be playing the game on a higher difficulty because on normal I didn't die a single time through route A, never even really came close. Honestly though I'm not sure I enjoy the gameplay enough to want to play it on a harder difficulty where fights take longer. It's honestly more the aesthetic and music that makes me really enjoy this game.

It's obnoxious and feels dated; there should be checkpoints
Maybe just dial the difficulty to easy? The combat is simple, and higher difficulty levels are just more tedious
It's just how he rolls.

When did he say that? I've only seen that he likes savepoints, for some reason.

Okay...that's a thing, i guess. Don't think it's a thing for me, but...
Wonder if it's a commentary on people using trophy guides?

I heard that I he did it because reviewers complained about manual saves in the first nier.
It was in an interview a while back.

I think for some reason the intro scene is the only unskippable one
Edit: holy cow that was a crazy way to end the opening mission!

Well played, Mssr. Yoko, well played.
