There is a kitty that keeps showing up at our new rental place. It's a young female with no collar or anything like that, but there is no way it is a feral born cat because it is WAY too human-friendly to be completely wild. I had to rescue it from a tree in our backyard today because it had managed to get itself stuck about 20 feet up and then I fed it some fish meat and it followed me around for a couple of hours afterwards until I had to go out and I could not lock it inside our house so I had to put it out and secure the building before I left.
My partner and I would both like to adopt it, but we cannot (rental), so the plan is to capture it and have it checked by a vet and then take it to a shelter as soon as my partner gets home from the mine site she works at. It is young, very cute, and quite good around humans (it likes pats but is not so good with cuddles yet) so it should get snapped up from any shelter it goes to pretty quickly!
If you can afford to...have it fixed please. Best way to avoid more homeless kitties in the future.
Despite appearances to the contrary, I am not actually an idiot.
It isn't intended as an insult I have a friend who runs a cat sanctuary currently housing close to 100 that is proof people do not think about this.
Do any of you folks have any experience with thunder shirts/vests for dogs?
Our dog doesn't do well in thunder storms and they happen about once a week now that it's summer.
I physically hug lola during a storm but she doesnt respond well. She tries to wedge herself in the hall closet though so Im thinking of getting a dog house to keep in the living room where she can chill .
If you've got a crate or something like that, drape a thick blanket over it and put some stuff that smells like you inside. Or hell, just make a pillow fort.
Both are adopted; neither is tame (yet). Kalani finally completely healed a sore he'd had since I got him six months ago, so hopefully I can start building trust!
The older man that lives across from my parents got a new chocolate lab named Otis. Otis is apparently just a little younger than my parent's yellow lab, Dexter. They met a couple of days ago and have become great playmates.
I went over to my parent's place today to talk to my dad, and he was outside with Dexter. Dexter and I played fetch for a little while, but then he went and layed in the grassy area behind our mailbox. My dad said that since he met Otis, Dexter will play for a little while and the go to that spot, so that he can watch the neighbor's house for Otis. It was totes adorbz.

My dog kept wandering around the house looking for either comfort or a place to hide while it thundered outside.
It was adorable. I kept trying to assure him it was ok, but he would just wander to some new place to hide, find it insufficient, and go to another room.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

If hes small enough make a little nest in a hall closet my beagle hung out there a lot during storms.
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

He has a kennel, which is his "safe zone" that he'll go to. Part of it was him running to different people and acting worried then going to random places in the room.

Gimme a few hours to get home and I'll make the animals perform for your amusement.
I imagine you'll also want to see the ferret doing ferretty things
The day I don't want to see a ferret doing ferretty things is probably the day after I bought a ferret and am feverishly looking for my keys because I'm late for work and can't figure out where the fuzzy little bastard hid them.
I'm not sure if I've said this before, but I love the name Sprocket.

Haechi got a summer haircut from the groomer, because I was sick of people asking if he had a skin condition/my brother's girlfriend calling him an appaloosa when I did it myself.
What hath the groomer chick wrought. >.<

My boyfriend and I are going to get a dog in a few months. He just started a new job and we want to wait until after we move in October so that we know what our schedules are like and what would be fair for the dog.
Are you going for adoption, or have a specific breed in mind, or both/neither?
Also yay dag.
We have specific breeds in mind that we would like to adopt/rescue if possible. There are a lot of places around DC which is great, but it also means that dogs/cats get adopted really quickly (a great problem to have.)
At some point I would really love a Bernese Mountain dog, but that will probably wait until we are living in a legit house that we know we are going to stay in long term. My boyfriend adores Australian Sheepdogs and owned a mini when he was younger. So I know that comes with a lot of exercise and training in order to keep them happy.
And then of course...Corgis because they are wonderful and tiny and will help me become friends with the Queen of England.
