Got a 32 PoE done last night, then helped some guys with a few nightfalls. Then we turned it into an impromptu Vault of Glass HM run. @Booker smoked us all with his loot, landing a Truth out of the maze chest and a Praetorian Foil from templar. Still no Fatebring for me.
But I did finally score a Vex Mythoclast after Atheon (as well as Aetheon's Epliogue...and my 3rd Timebreaker)! So that made our finish better. It was also a pretty solid run, really only had a couple quick wipes and Atheon was flawless. We ran @3clipse through for his first time and I taught him how to Titan jump down to the ledge on the right side of the jump puzzle. Oh, and he had himself muted for like 10 minutes before the gorgon maze...
I was eating something crunchy and forgot to unmute when I finished eating. I'm not a bright man. But it was fun! Thanks for teaching my dumb ass!

@Muffinatron sorry I missed your IB invite. Needed to get the Heroic Strike done.
I'm gonna grab some lunch and will be on in a little bit if you are still looking for folks.
I'll see if I can grab a couple of cans at lunch. Are they on a sticker on the can, or inside the can or what?
edit: Uhg the promotion isnt with sugar free red bulls. I'll still grab a couple of cans and hand out some codes.
They are under the tab of the can.
Also, in case anyone was envious of the US's 7-11s. Some places they are plentiful, other states have zero.
There is no way that map is right because I know of two 7-11s in Michigan it doesn't have including one where I live.
Yeah I think that is a heat map, because there are like 5 within 5 miles distance of each other in SWVA where I am at.
edit: just zoomed in on a google maps, yeah make that 12 within 5 miles lol.
It's a GoogleMaps search for "7-11". If you zoom in a bit, a few more stores pop up. Overall, it's a pretty good indicator of where stores are. I meant it only to show non-USers what the reality of our conveniences stores is like.
But 7-11 is only one chain, even though it is the largest iirc. But there's other chains like the awesome Wawa, the red "K" guys, Sunoco/BP/Hess combo stores, plus mom-and-pops too.

There's over 3000 of them within 3000 miles of my location.

Also, it's starting to get really hard to solo things at lvl 30. Should I join the clan?
You should either join the clan or add people from the master list spreadsheet in the OP. Playing with PA peeps is vastly more entertaining than going it alone.
Exotics can be purchased with Strange Coins from Xur from Friday through the reset on Sunday (so really 48 hours). Costs vary depending on the slot. I think Primaries are 23 coins while Secondaries and Heavies are 17. Armor is 13. Exotic Engrams will be 23.
You also have a better-than-bad chance at Exotics by completing the Nightfall each week. You also have a nearly guaranteed Exotic waiting for your character the first time they open the loot chest at the end of the Prison of Elders with a Treasure Key (obtained through the HoW quest line as a reward and from opening Ether chests (rarely) after defeating a Prowling Pack of Wolves).
You also get a chance at obtaining Exotics by defeating Atheon in the Vault of Glass, or by defeating Ir Yut or Crota in Crota's End. Also in VoG there is one chest that has a chance to have an Exotic in it.
Lastly, Exotics can be randomly awarded in Iron Banner (not sure on regular Crucible).
Also, it's starting to get really hard to solo things at lvl 30. Should I join the clan?
The easiest way to acquire exotic gear is from Xur, the Weekend Vendor. However, purchasing exotics from Xur requires Strange Coins, which is a currency you might not have much of. Of course, if you're level 30, you have access to Weekly Heroic Strikes, which reward Strange Coins (9 at the highest difficulty).
Other than that, exotics are generally found within Raids, as a reward for doing Nightfalls, as rare drops from the highest tier of Strike Playlists and Crucible, and VERY VERY RARELY can be found within purple engrams that fall out during any ol' thing.

Either Dragon Strikes (or whatever the highest matchmade strike playlist is called now) in the playlist or farm Wolf chests for blue engrams, and hope to get lucky when you turn stuff in. You can also get one for finding all 5 golden chests on Mars.

I put up a PoE 35 event for tonight for the X100 group. I'll be in for at least one 35 and one or two each 32 and 34, plus I need to knock out my weekly strikes (ugh, Omnigul).
Oh wow, screw crucible right now. Its just stomp after stomp. Super obvious group of 4+ vs bunch of DCers and idiots. I haven't had a control match with a less than 8000 point difference yet.
I would kill to see numbers of participation in last month's IB vs. this month.
I would also love for someone to write something up about how Destiny's PVP is so laggy, considering it's supposed to be peer-to-peer but there are obvious server/lag issues interlaced with it. IB rewards, for example, are obviously a server lag problem, (If you didn't hear about the exploit, you could jump into a POE35 and get free rewards once the servers caught up with your IB reward not showing up) and it wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that there's more of a server-side issue than anyone has known up to this point.
It's sort of fascinating in a painful, thoroughly unenjoyable way.
I have a tattoo appointment right after work, so I'll be home late, but any late night player keep an eye on The100, I am hoping to get some PoE time in since I'm off tomorrow.

Okay, so basically run through the expansion and unlock PoE should net me enough Strange Coins to get an exotic armor?

I can't speak for the lag, but I would say almost definitely that the rewards are based on a server. When you complete [current activity] on the client side it sends a quick note to the server, then the server responds telling your game to cough up the loot. The lag was in the server responding to the [current activity] notification, in this case for Iron Banner. When the server finally catches up, if you are in the middle of a different activity, all the server is telling your client is "[player] completed [current activity]" so the game gave up the wrong goods. Running a server to simply respond to these sort of requests is far less expensive than hosting the gameplay, I imagine.

True, but it doesn't explain why IB lag is so much worse than crucible. I think there's some portion of gameplay that is dependent on server activity, and something about IB makes it 100x worse.

Yeah, everything I've been reading on IB is that it's been especially brutal in the lag and red-bar-gods departments.

Totally, but to speak completely out of my ass, there are a bunch of other things that happen over the course of the game that would also ping a server like Player A just killed Player B, update player A's experience on all weapons/armor/level. Maybe with IB there's a server-side player level/weapon damage check that has to happen with every bit of damage to other players, since level advantages are enabled.
There's no way they're leaving experience and glimmer gain up to the client side of things, since that would open them up to exploits.
But like I said, I'm just completely bullshitting. Given how arcane the problems could be and how little Bungie communicates about anything with Destiny, we'll never know.

If you haven't been doing the weekly strike too, that's 3-9 SC a week depending on how high of a level you choose.

Yeah, there is definitely some other communication. I don't know how much of the gameplay is reported to the bungie servers in real time during regular play. Kills and stats are definitely communicated to home base at some point so bungie.net works. I could see level advantage being the issue, it could even be that there isn't any server interaction, but that the Host system is being heavily taxed in keeping up with level disparity calculations.
Thread title updated to reflect Iron Banner shenanigans, which will only ramp up over the holiday weekend. I thought this was appropriate, given that Arcadians the world over are celebrating this week. I haven't played any IB yet this week, and I've been reading (here and reddit) that the lag is horrendous, but... this video really puts it in perspective.
To join:
1. Send @GMaster7 (on the PS side) or @ObiFett (on the Xbox side) - or preferably, both - a PM, letting us know that you're applying.
2. Hit up the Bungie.net group for Pax Arcadia (right here, at this link) and apply for membership. If necessary, you can hit up the group for Pax Arcadia II (right here), either instead or in addition, and apply for membership.
3. Add yourself to the Pax Arcadia Mega-Roster that we've created to keep track of membership. Use the tabs at the bottom to select your console, and put yourself at the bottom of your tab's list. We'll bump you up to your proper alphabetical placement once you're in the group.
4. When we get your PM and see that you're on the spreadsheet, we'll accept you to the group(s). Then, you have to separately join your system's clan, if there's space - so click "Set as PlayStation Clan" in your group's banner if you're on PS3/PS4 or "Set as Xbox Clan" in Pax Arcadia's banner if you're on 360/XB1 to officially request admission to the clan. (Note: This only works after you've played the game on your system for the first time.) We'll accept you asap.
5. Friend some PAers, hop online, and take to the skies in the name of Pax Arcadia!
Wow that red bull code thingy is so awesome @ObiFett I am in Canada so I do not even have the option to buy one. I messed up a bit in my excitement and submitted with my PSN handle like a fool. I have resubmitted with my Forum handle. Thanks again for setting this up
