So now that I have a Thorn leveled enough to do DoT.....
How the fuck did play testing used this gun and thought it was okay to go?
This hand cannon is nuts. Winning against 1v1 at long range against snipers? Seriously? Then again, Bungie does have a hardon for sniper pistols (Halo 1).
It didn't. The gun was complete shit when the game came out. It got buffs and many other guns got nerfed. It came out of play test complete shit and we all wondered how a gun that was such a pain in the ass to get came out of testing worse than a random blue.

I just had an amazing game of control on Asylum, but I messed up with the share button. I had 32 kills! I used my striker, with tlw and found verdict and hezen vengeance.
Is there some way to see match history somewhere? I think that was the best match I ever played.
I double clicked the share button and only had 2 seconds to upload.
Thinking about getting back into this after stopping right before the dlc came out, have a couple of questions.
1. Would I need to get both DLCs?
2. Did they ever rebalance the weapons?
3. Do I still need to level all these purple guns before I shred them?
4. Any other big changes?
Before you do anything, and I'm surprised the question hasn't been asked, for gods sake please be careful with what you decide to dismantle. Do you have a Shadow Price? A Devil you Know? There are many vanilla legendaries that are massively sought after. You may be sitting on gold my friend.
Wasn't planning on spreading guns I used, had a few useless one I was leveling for parts and was hoped I didn't need to. I have a Devil you Know and 2 Shadow Prices, I like them but what makes them so valuable now?
Secrets, lies, and tragedy. The trifecta.

High impact low RoF auto rifles don't exist anymore, plus they've removed certain perks from the game that are on old guns

They're supposed to be talking weapons this week. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want us dragging our year one purps to the end of taken King.
Some reassurances that Taken King isn't going to make the perk mistakes that House of Wolves made would also be nice

I wouldn't mind giving up my fatebringer and other such guns for newer different guns. Bring in new shield types or something if you're afraid of power creep.

They're hinting that they got the hint about their normal strike encounter design. I think I'm looking to hear about that most of all
Shoot it until it dies is only so fun when repeated endlessly, I want multi stage bosses that require some tactical shooting to kill. Moving weakpoints, shifting floors, changing modifiers, objectives that are more complicated than "bring down shield and beat it with a sword" but are still intuitive. It needs to be fun to play it over and over.

The more I think about it, the happier I am to put down some of the old staples for new guns. I won't be upset if we can't upgrade weapons ad infinitum.
Oh no, hunter is still OP in PvP. Blink+Quickdraw+Blinkstrike is the best kit in the game. Golden Gun is the most versatile super in the game. Arcblade is still better than every other super except golden gun. That said, Arcblade isn't as good as it was pre-shotgun proliferation. I think there were also some arcblade nerfs, but can't recall exactly.
No one is saying Hunters don't have the best PvP kit in the game.
It bemuses me that such an OP class like Sunsinger falls so low; but then I play PvP and watch the majority of players rocking Fireborn like it's a 1up.
A super in PvP is not a super if you have to die before you use it. Use Radiant Skin folks, laugh as Bladedancers tickle you with Arc Feathers, High Five Titans off the map mid-animation, run away from Voidwalkers and Goldengunners, because that shit hurts, yo.
Stack with flame shield and max your discipline and strength, shields and 'nades for dayz. (Flame shield brings you to max armour, and adds 55 to your health in PvP - unlike other melee attacks it activates on hit, not death).
Use Viking Funeral and Touch of Flame, stack with a firebolt grenade, when in super, you'll be throwing flammable high-fives and spaghetti all over, dropping orbs and if you die, you'll know that you have taken at least three with you.
The reason why GG and Arc Blade do so well in PvP is that you have to be aware of when you are using it, you weigh up the options and opportunity, pop the super and go in; Sunsinger, if used correctly follows the same structure, but in my opinion, can cause far more havok.
While fun, I think Sunsinger is the worst class for PvP.
Voidfand Vestments. Touch of Flame. Viking Funeral. Firebolt grenade. Thorn. Burn the world on every respawn.
Wish I had a recording of when @Hiryu02 1st told me and a pic of the score at the end it's disgusting.

I wouldn't mind a platform puzzle boss where you have to position yourself on the right platform or take damage/die.
Hell, I wouldn't mind a whole strike with nothing but the VoG platform jumping puzzle. Or whole strikes based around FPS puzzles like Portal or something.
Yeah man, will add you. trying to get back into it. But yeah I tend to be a chatterbox calling everything out from blind nades to wave spawns. It's a holdover from doing VoG oracles, the hard way, I think. Iron Bannerino brings it out in me too.
Hiryu’s Strategic Philosophy Hour* was a favourite part of raiding for me.
Some reassurances that Taken King isn't going to make the perk mistakes that House of Wolves made would also be nice
What perk mistakes? Why wouldn't you want Shank burn on a sniper or rocket launcher? OF COURSE that makes sense!
After looking through my inventory, I'd be okay with them shooting all the Year 1 guns out of a cannon into space... except for the Raid ones. Need to figure something out there, whether it's some kind of nerf if they really feel it's necessary (mainly it's not BLACK HAMMER I'm looking at you) or an upgrade to Exotic status.
Armor ascension should be retained forever for maximum Guardian dress up potential.

What's wrong with better guns?
Do soldiers really have fond memories of using the musket and refused to upgrade to a machine gun?

Give us better guns, make old guns obsolete.
House of Wolves should put the very strong idea in your head that they might outdate your current, excellent guns, increase the damage numbers for Taken King ("better", "stronger" guns), and then only have objectively worse perks on the new stuff (extra damage on one type of enemy only under a certain circumstance for example).

I'm okay with exotics making the transition for sure. But make new awesome exotics and tweak the existing ones so you really gotta make them fight over what gets that slot so you really are making that sort of decision by an encounter to encounter basis.

This totally happens though; soldiers use older, out-of-service models of guns because they are familiar with how they work/ prefer how they operate. Look up the M1 Garand or the M16 or any number of firearms that rightfully should be inferior to newer stuff. Better yet, enjoy these educational videos on those guns' histories. https://youtu.be/6HEAA0C6a4Q https://youtu.be/yh2FGCYC63Q

probably more importantly
real life is a terrible thing to base game design off of
soldiers use newer guns because if they don't they're even more likely to die
they don't use them because they find them more fun
really, in what world is "let's just make the numbers for the new stuff bigger for no reason" good game design
I am just boggled by how aggressively bad a suggestion that was
I want new guns not for bigger numbers but to make the game feel more like a new game abd not like an Expansion. Moving in from the old guns is the only way to capture that excitement of discovering this game again
Both for fresh pvp and pve meta abd for incentive to get back in that treadmill
The base stats nerf to all guns is going to change EVERYTHING, and we know almost nothing about it so far.
This is part of why all that hargleblargle over the "weapon patch" is silly at this point. It's not a weapon patch, it's an expansion and a refactoring of huge portions of the game. People have zero context to judge must of the changes.

It becomes much less of a sure pick for all content in the game if you can't keep gjallarhorn or ice breaker equipped at the same.
I was laughing so hard during and after this clip. Piss poor shooting in my part but mida lets me fight snipers 3on1!
