The only reason I accepted Steam as my saviour was because of Red Orchestra. I really wanted to play that game so I ended up buying it, pre-ordering it even. Then that ATi Promo with HL2 deathmatch (the days of my glorious 9700Pro 128MB).
Half-Life 1 for 98 cents...
Also of note is Dark Messiah, which came from a Portuguese magazine that was giving them away on their website and I'm pretty sure someone on these forums called it to our attention.
Heads up guys! Theres a game out there by the name of "Brutal Force"
It was lowered in price to 4.99 as its final price, then went 75% off. Then they jacked up the price, while keeping it 75% off. They keep raising the base price of the game, to increase the price of the sale, while using a 75% off to try to get more interest in their game. People who pointed it out were banned from the steam discussions on it.
Daedalic Entertainment and Swedish developer Forgotten Key will send players into the mystic 3rd-person exploration adventure AER in 2016.
AER puts players in the shoes of Auk, a pilgrim girl, to explore an unbelievable open world beneath her feet and wings. Wings? Yes, indeed! Auk has a rare gift: She can turn into a bird and is one of the few people who can reach even the most remote places in her homeland of flying islands, in search for the “Memories of the Past”. On her journey she encounters other shape shifters, visits the ruins of the old gods and has to face dark creatures to revive the world of AER from menacing shadows.
In a genre mix between action adventure and flight exploration, players will join Auk on her pilgrimage. The surreal style of AER will be accompanied by reduced but colorful low poly graphics that underline the quiet tone of the game in a fitting way.
AER will be published worldwide on PlayStation®4, Xbox One™, PC, Mac and Linux by Daedalic Entertainment. The game will be released in 2016.
I want to put it on my wishlist right now but there's no page! Seems like something that Pixelated Pixie and Berylline (among many others) might want to keep an eye out for.
Thanks for the heads-up @Ed Gruberman! That game looks lovely and I'll be keeping an eye out for it. I love this thread. Even when I'm not as active (GW2 has taken over my gaming time for now), I often have multiple people telling me when a game they think I'll enjoy pops up. You're the best (all of you)!
Could somebody here tell the weather over North Texas to not be 105 for the next 10 days? Or like, ever? Because I need to work, but I don't need to work in that shit.
In Lubbock we went almost a year without triple digits. Broke the streak yesterday
Yes, friends! It's that time of year again. When I complete another cycle in the spiral to inevitable death and decay. Of course I mean my birthday! Now, I had a big hullaballoo contest planned. Multiple things going. multiple prizes. That kinda crap. Well, my funds shat on all of that, but that will not stop me!
So here's your task! We all have birthdays. Usually they suck. Sometimes they don't. But if we all have birthdays, so too must a video game character. Well, we never see this. We never know what our beloved videogame stars do to celebrate their birthday.
I want you to show me this. Show (or tell) me what [insert favorite videogame character here] does on [insert pronoun here] birthday. I know, it's not a great prompt, but it's what I have to work with. SO, Heenato you ask! What's in it for me?!
The prize, is one game of your choosing up to 60 dollars.
entry can be in any format you prefer, you know, Art draws, photoshoops, saucy limmerick. whatever you want! Entries will be judged on creativity mostly. Entries will be accepted until Early morning AUGUST 6th, with winner being announced on the 7th, my birthday.
All usual community rules for this kind of thing apply here. You know, active members of the community, ETC, ETC.
ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED!
I will judge entries tonight, and post the winner either tonight at midnight, or tommorow once I am up.
The new version of Idle Master is pretty cool, and (I think) more efficient. But I'm a little worried that Valve might now get pissed at me for using it. It's idling 21 games at the same time. :?
Ooooh, I just looked in the settings. It's idling everything under 2 hours up to 2 hours and then it will start doing them individually. Neat! And you can tell it to just do individually if you want.
Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey got a remastered edition made, it's currently 10% off. Looks like owners of the original game get the remastered version free.
So that's cool.
Huh. So I did. Thatnks for the heads up!

But what's weird is that it's showing up in my discovery queue and such too. Oh well!
I will note that apparently the dev still is in the red from the game, so let's definitely encourage others to pick it up :V

Yeah, I remember that. I didn't take advantage of it because I already had Dark Messiah, but goddamn, that was 6 years ago? Jeez.

Isn't Daedalic that company that makes weirdly racist cartoon games?
That's the one although not all their games are weirdly racist. They also do the Blackguards game which I haven't heard anything racist about those though I haven't made it very far. I'm not even sure all the deponia games are racist. I think it was just a couple choices in one game.

That is very cool. I really enjoyed Letter Quest. I hope the decision to giveaway the remastered version pays off for the devs.
I had been watching this one a bit trying to decide if I wanted it or not. I was pretty sure @Santika would want it and after I showed it to her I was right. So that's two new sales for the devs due to people here enjoying it and pointing out the remastering to bring it back into the light for us.
The story is explained at that imgur link but basically. There is nothing but chapter 1. Nobody can complete chapter 1. And there is no evidence that any of the other chapters exist. At all.
Very sketchy.
I posted this a few days back.
Said game is now removed from the store and Valve posted this.

I'm sure turn based games will be useful while dealing with an infant too, lol! I pretty much just played FF: Record Keeper the whole time at the hospital.

This uh... this looks strangely familiar. I made a game (well, a very bare bones prototype) for my senior project in college with 7 other people. Here's the trailer for the thing we did.
It was also a third person exploration game, where a space cadet girl crash landed on an island in the sky. The whole game was exploring this island, no real combat just exploration and lore. The "game" was that the girl could use a hoverboard that she salvaged from the crash, so we got this sort of mish-mash gameplay of Shadows of the Colossus and Tony Hawk.
Granted this AER game, obviously, looks a million times better. Probably because it's made by professionals, and we were just uninitiated students. In any case, I'm excited! It's just sort of eerie something so similar to a project I worked on in school.

I have a technical Witcher 3 question. I have motion blur off but I notice in cutscenes at times when the characters move, not all the time but sometimes, they kind of blur for a sec. Has that happened to anyone else? It's kind of weird.
I forgot to mention yesterday that @Corsini and @cooljammer00 are the winners of Coin Crypt and Screencheat, if you haven't already grabbed your keys off steamgifts. Hope you have fun with 'em!
