Going to miss Gaius and his judge buddies. They were awesome villains.
Could not care less about Lahabrea and his lame cult though. Definitely the least interesting part of the storyline.
Overall, had a lot of fun. Easily the best MMO story thats not SWTOR and I would say FF14 has a better climax. Time to claim my magitek armor and continue working towards Heavensward.

Man, I have to admit, being locked up in a garrison for the last year has really made me miss chatty guildies and a nice open world with a wonderful score to play in. I'm still not sold on the slowbie combat and endless level grind, but I think I might drift this way just casually (and happily).

The nice thing about the combat is that it really grows into it's own as you get more and more abilities. It's designed primarily at first to not overwhelm players brand new to MMOS and by the time you hit 50 and have a bunch of stuff it's very intuitive and the moves are beautifully animated and have real weight to them.

What's a good way of leveling another job in Heavensward after completing the MSQ?
Roulettes and daily Centurio hunts.
Thank you so much for the clan hunt tips. I'd totally forgotten they gave out xp. Got my level 50 warrior 300k xp tonight just by doing all three levels. I am saving my daily roulettes for my 60 job to get law tomes.

I still think the player version doesn't have as much oomph probably because the screen doesn't shake as much. Or maybe because I'm usually trying to counter the bloody thing when it's used on tanks so seeing red HP bars drop isn't as important to me.
But yeah, the really nice thing about the combat is that it really builds up as you unlock key abilities and even as a healer or a tank, you can almost always be doing better by seeking to push more DPS. I've been constantly tempted to record say, F4 or even just a dungeon run and just annotate it with all the constant decision making I do as a WHM in keeping everyone alive, making sure the tank is confident that healing isn't slacking, pushing as much damage as possible and maintaining a safety margin of MP in the event shit hits the fan...
But it looks like I'm bringing down the wrath of a Dragon God with almost every attack, so that's cool.
This makes me curious about what peoples favorite attack animations are. I've only played Dragoon so I can't speak to the rest of the jobs but I really like the animation for Disembowel (that feels really weird to type). It's so clean, clear and weighty. Fang and claw is growing on me but I haven't got to use it often enough to be sure.

disembowel is good but I like trick attack the most, partially because it does so. much. damage. I'm nearing 4k crits. it's actually pretty similar to disembowel now that I think about it.

I do not share that opinion at all. Thus far at 60 I haven't found it overly complicated or bloated at all, you typically have a small core set of abilities and the rest are woven off GCD, are on long cooldowns, or are used in more niche situations. The system is also designed off a queue to account for latency provided you aren't using macros so it's pretty forgiving even in that regard (excluding Ninja Mudra BS)
I do agree that at high levels it does require a lot of precision to maximize your Job potential and managing that while dealing with game mechanics is where you really see the skill, but at a core level it's pretty straightforward imo.
Certain jobs do have a higher skill ceiling than others I would say, though all Jobs can be managed at a basic level pretty easily.

Speaking as someone who does not have good latency by any stretch of the imagination (ask me about my pineapple), I'm gonna have to disagree on that last bit. Some classes are less forgiving than others, yeah, but this is much easier to handle than WoW with all sorts of haste buffs flying around on a 1.5 GCD.
Disembowl is the best move. Pay close attention to the move. The spear is thrust with a twist so the hook catches on the internal organs. When the spear is pulled out then so are the intestines.

In some situations; it sucked for healing. Then again we did 25 mans, and at the time I quit (Heroic Dragon Soul) the correct way to heal pretty much everything was one guy on the tank and everyone else on max HPS AoE spam.

1s GCDs with a 220ms latency was the pits. I hated knowing that I couldn't hit maximum DPS potential by a significant margin because of latency.
Though with WoW there was priority systems and not set rotations where if you screw up once your DPS is fucked. Also they're taking efforts to combat button bloat.

FFXIV very much uses a priority system as well, which has become even more pronounced with 3.0

I think that says a lot about all these factors.
Yup, however I will admit that I feel players using a controller are more affected by the number of abilities than Keyboard users are. I've heard some people talking about how difficult it is to get everything they want on the cross bar, is that still the case at 60?

Well yes? We have more abilities at 60, so why wouldn't it be? I do my best to only use 2 crossbars because I prefer the controller even though I play on PC, but for certain ability heavy jobs, or when I try PvP, forget it.
Ability bloat is definitely a thing.

I'm currently 54 and I'm still doing A-OK.
I will say, however, that in a world with PvP specific abilities not being able to save different set-ups is a bit troublesome.
But for PvE I have everything I need on my crossbars and have open spots for abilities up to 60 with no issues there.
i've had no problem as a 60 dragoon using a controller, i do need to use the R2+L2/L2+R2 bars but everything fits pretty easily and i have no complaints
Yup, for the most part I am fine as well, for now.
I would say I start running into problems only with PVP actions, or on Summoner/Scholar because of pet actions, but I've done my best to make good use of macros and such.
I am however maxed out on my 2 crossbars on my level 60 job, so I worry what will happen in future expansions when the level cap goes up again, but we're a long way from that so hopefully they'll think of something by then.

You can create macros to swap abilities into different hotbar slots. That's what I did for PvP on my bard. I have a macro that puts my PvP abilities into slots taken by stuff that I'm much less likely to use in PvP, and then another to put it all back.

Playing a tank, I notice plenty of issues that seem to be related to latency or something similar. There have been numerous times where I have pressed a button to activate an off-global cooldown ability and nothing has happened. It's to the point where I have to spam any off GCD abilities and hope they actually activate. This really sucks when it is a defensive cooldown and failure to activate causes me to take way more damage than I or the healers was planning on.

FFXIV very much uses a priority system as well, which has become even more pronounced with 3.0

Yea I mean you can easily play this game with a controller.
