Could use work for sure, but seems generally quicker and easier than the current questing flow of:
-Do quests
-Unlock new duty
-Google the dungeon/trial, hope the first few guides has something useful and not woefully outdated or or obtuse
-(optional) Strike out on that, go to youtube and watch some awfully produced video that leaves out important mechanics and has a minute-long intro animation
[...]
I just go to youtube and look for the guide by either MissTiQue (sp?) or MrHappy.
And since my only job above 35 is a BRD, I have plenty of time to watch both guides before the duty pops.
the blessing and curse of having leveled a tank is that my queues are often instant, and i will be expected to lead the group once i'm in despite being totally new to the duty
it's fun though, and for the most part i just hit things with my axe and get mad while looking at a cheatsheet on my other monitor for the next boss

Yeah, I feel ya. I try to go "fast" enough to not frustrate those that have run this a thousand times, but I'm bouncing back and forth between the wiki and the dungeon on different monitors. Even on roulettes, where I just ran the dungeon once (possibly a month ago) while leveling but haven't been back since, so I forget all the ins and outs.
Even worse, when the rest of my party is PS players, and they either can't/won't type any responses to questions, I'm kinda left just winging it.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. ~ Terry Pratchett
i don't have time to watch a video of the third boss whose mechanics i already forgot because i was busy leading the group through bosses 1 and 2 while also learning them myself

I just mention it's my first time and start pulling. If someone wants to mention something, they can, if everyone says it's the first time, I'll open the wiki.

I don't find this to be too much of a problem with the guides for the entire dungeon are 3-4 min long.

Yeah, that's pretty beautiful. The more I find out about this game, the more I love it ...
Excuse me ... got a bit dusty in here ... got something in my eye, and my throat.
The Rising. It's a secondary event on top of the Moonfire Faire, to celebrate the anniversary of ARR.
You can start it in Uldah.
The Rising is one of my favorite holidays, because it has meaning both in and out of game.
In game, it is a memorial to those who fell at Cartenou during the Calamity (hence why Answers plays in the event areas.)
Out of game, it's a celebration of the rebirth of the game, and a way for the development staff to say "thank you for making Eorzea your home" to the players.
Since it's so fourth-wall-breaky, I'd prefer if it was kept such that you experience it through the Echo. Retain access to it by letting you ask the Wandering Minstrel in Revenant's Toll to bring you there.

oh man you know what's exciting for me personally? Void Ark is going to be the first raid that I get to run on release. When I got to 50, Syrcus Tower had been available for a long time. When I came back to the game this year, WoD had been available for a long time. So in both of those raids it was very much "no one explains anything, you're expected to know it because it's been out for over a month".
My favorite parts of HW were dying a few times on Myath and Ravana because we were trying to devise strategies on the fly.

I love how the Eighteenth Floor is a shoutout to the Thireteenth Floor movie.
Greetings Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada.
Oh wow. Somehow, the black/white/red/blue argument went completely over my head.
i think either Blue or Red could work.
For Blue, they could simply have you learn new monster skills during the job quests, like how Summoner gets new Egis by defeating them. They could make it a Quina/Necromancer situation by saying Blue Mages need to personally kill a potential monster to take its powers.
For Red? Well, there's a lot of potential toys for Red Mages that have been added to the games over the years. Dualcast is the obvious one. You could have a bunch of weaker spells, but gain the ability to proc dual casts, effectively gaining Swiftcast on the next spell.
Or they could go the Dimensions route, and fold Spellblade skills into Red Mage. Osmotic Slash alone would make for a neat MP management gimmick.
Or, if they wanted to get really crazy? Take inspiration from Bravely Default, give Red Mages skills that empower them when they take damage, get status ailments, or dodge, and make Red Mage the first Disciple of Magic to be a Tank
I guess maybe I shouldn't have signed up for a month of game time before the Heavensward key got sent to me. Right now my days are wasting and Square Enix hasn't responded to my support ticket about whether I'll get a refund for the game key they won't send me.
I'm afraid that if I just suck it up and buy the key from Amazon suddenly Square Enix will decide to give me the key without making me send them photo ID, and I'll end up wasting another 40 dollars.
This whole thing is leaving a sour taste in my mouth. I figured buying directly from the source was the best way to support them, and I didn't imagine they would turn this into such a shitshow.
I might end up having to write this off as a learning experience and give up on the game altogether.

SE's online shit is mind bogglingly bad, yeah. After 2 years I sorta forgot, but the reason my character's last name is Elzhand is because they thought I already tried the game with my delzhand email address so I had to trick them by signing up as [email protected] instead.
:stretches: Picking this back up after a few weeks of getting distracted. Been blazing through the Crystal Tower and I finally beat Leviathan-Ex (or rather...found some people who could beat it FOR me. In the run where are party finally won I was the only guy to fall off the boats...whoops)
Question! I heard that the Rising event has HW spoilers. I wanna do the even but I've only just started Dreams of Ice....how bad are the spoilers?

If I recall correctly, The only real spoiler is the minions you get as a quest reward. They are a wind-up Iceheart, and a wind-up Yugiri, without her mask.
But since Maskless Yugiri isn't much of a spoiler (unless you really want to preserve the mystery of her race), I'd say that the Rising is fairly tame, spoiler-wise.
It makes reference to the final boss of HW, but only in saying that the next EX encounter is the 'final boss.'

I did a leveling roulette on my 22 Lancer this morning and got Satasha. The tank was a 16 Gladiator. I felt bad because on boss fights and pulls I ended up tanking. I tried to give him tips since my Paladin is up to 36 but there really wasn't anything he was doing wrong. It was weird. Luckily no one got mad about it and we crushed that dungeon.

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
I tanked a copperbell last night as a bard since the newbie tank was basically just not really using his aggro abilities. I gave him a tip or two that he ignored, and it's like, it's fine for copperbell because I can totally tank that as dps, but it's gonna get painful for him eventually.

Put the bonus attributes into Strength, ensure their weapon is up to date, balance threat generation so there's only enough to hold healing threat while everything else is diverted into single target. Use Fight or Flight to assist with threat generation. Hit buttons harder; no seriously, getting every GCD that you can makes a big difference.
The only times when threat can be really problematic because of level sync are in Toto-Rak for Warriors/Marauders (No full combo vs Level 26 DPS that start to get their full primary combos) and Cutter's Cry for PLDs (Level 40 traits vs no Shield Oath)
I was looking at this but I couldn't find a purchase option and I couldn't figure out what came with the soundtrack. I was hoping it came with everything from Reborn through to Heavensward but I can't tell.

Yea, there was unfortunately not a lot he could do to keep aggro from me. I have a lot of aetherial gear on my Lancer and I had a lot of stat points dumped into Strength.

You'll need to walk through a pair of countertops in the Quicksand to get there.
