Get your ass up in your attic and run you some cat6. You can pull it down through and air vent if you are particularly lazy and/or don't own the place. Otherwise, just punch a small hole in the wall and pull it through there. A faceplate and jack will cost you less than 10 bucks. Cat6 can be bought by the foot at your local hardware store hella cheap.

There isn't any attic. I don't know what the hell kind of apartments you people are living in.

When you were talking about cables coming out of the ceiling, assumed that meant you had an attic. My bad. You could still fish it through an air vent if you're feeling froggy.

Is that other coax cable going into the other room? You could use it as a pull cord.

The right cable goes through the floor into the apartment below us. The left goes... I don't know where exactly the hell it goes, possibly it comes out as the Fiber jack in the bedroom on the other side of the wall?
Ew, 20mbps from Google Fiber makes me vomit with rage. That sucks, I feel for you.
Actually testing again it's more like 30-40mbps. And I'm sure I could probably do better with an AC-rated adapter. It really doesn't bother me much. Although powerline adapters have always intrigued me.

I was having some minor issues with my Steam Link over Wi-Fi spanning 2 floors. Plugged in an AV2 gigabit powerline adapter and it fixed all of my issues so it's definitely worth checking out.

Getting some reports of people struggling With frame rate on some games while using the Oculus devkit2 with a 770. That's a way less demanding device than the consumer version.
What do we think the chances of an April Pascal release are?

What do we think the chances of an April Pascal release are?
Yes. Because the minimum spec is a 970. a lesser card will of course not drive it well.
As for Pascal in april? Probably not zero chance, but probably not far from zero.

Right, but I was kind of hoping that the 770 would be more or less ok if you just turned down some settings. If people are struggling with the DK2 already, that doesn't bode well for my chances on the full release hardware. Part of me wants to just buy a card now and be done with it. The 980Ti would almost certainly tide me over for a couple years, so I'm really considering it.

How do the power bands with new releases usually go?
Are any of the initial new wave of cards likely to match or beat a 980Ti besides the Titan?
IIRC, the new 80 will be better than a 980Ti, but not by tons and tons. The new Ti will come out later, so if you have a 980Ti, you won't want to upgrade until the new Ti card comes out. If you're waiting though, the new 80 will be faster than the Ti for cheaper, so it's worth it to upgrade.

maybe ill just buy a pascal titan
always wanted to buy a top end gfx card
might have to invest in some bodyguards to protect me from my wife though
Will I need to buy extra cables or should my motherboard/tower come with enough stuff for plug in my HDD/SSD? Haven't opened things up yet and just curious what the norm is

You shouldn't need to buy anything extra. Your case will come with all the screws you need. Your mobo (and psu if it's modular) will come with all the cables you need.
Ugh, my old computer I was turning into my GF's new computer is having freezing issues. I was having trouble with it before I put my new computer together and determined it was a dying HDD, but now that it's having issues it's either the CPU or the mobo or the RAM that's crapping out... and if I replace one of those I might as well replace all of them. Jesus.

It's highly unlikely the CPU is crapping out. They typically far outlast their usefulness. You can test your ram by downloading and booting to memtest86+. Make sure you get the + version. I would start by factory resetting your BIOS/EFI. If memtest turns up something, try removing your ram, and blowing everything out with compressed air. If you're in a household with multiple computers and electronic devices, this electric air duster is the only way to go. It'll pay for itself in a couple of years vs buying canned air.
Another thing to check would be your CPU, GPU and mobo temps. A program like SppedFan will give you the crucial info you need. You want to see your CPU and GPU idling at no higher than 40c on stock coolers. Under load you want to see your CPU top out at ~75c on a stock cooler. Your GPU will usually see a little more heat and could top out at ~80c on a stock cooler. Now, I tend to want to play it safe with my temps. With high end, aftermarket coolers I keep my idle temps in the mid to low 30s. I don't like seeing any of my load temps get over 60c.
If all of that checks out. If you're nice and clean on the inside, you have reseated all your cables, and your temps look fine, there are a couple more recommendations I might have. Update the BIOS/EFI on your mobo. Most modern mobos have a simple program you run from windows that reboots your computer and runs the update with no user interaction required. Gone are the days of sketchy BIOS updates that would crash half the time. If all of that fails, test your hard drive with a tool like MHDD. If it comes to that, shoot me a PM and we can chat.
Edit: It's highly unlikely a failing PSU would cause freezing. I can think of only a few very isolated scenarios where anything resembling system freezing would come from a PSU issues. MAYBE if you are maxing out your PSU with all your components under full load and one of them just tips it too far, MAYBE. But more likely it's related to software or other hardware.

have you ruled out PSU?
It's a brand-new PSU and SSD, so yeah.
I installed the automatic BIOS updater from the provided disc and was going to run it to get the newest drivers online, but the computer froze up while trying to open the program. It did that several times in a row.
I'm posting from my new PC! Assembly was pretty fast and easy. It does suck having to redownload my older programs and stuff, but only a minor inconvenience. Everything is running so fast and smooth now! And only 10 seconds to go from a cold boot to start screen?! Damn!
Thanks for all the help everyone! What a happy birthday for me!

Just watch the youtube video by newegg. It was very informative and answered almost all my questions. Most parts only fit one way and the entire process was fairly simple. Just google what is outside of the norm for you PC.
Seriously though, I was really easy. Built both my wife's and my computer in no time flat.

Those engineer friends are going to try to construct some sort of custom loop cooling system connected to your tap water. I'd send them out in a scavenger hunt to eventually get pizza or something.
So I never got around to posting a picture of the new build after we got into the whole ethernet-cables-in-attics sidetrack. Here's "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" ("Red Molly" for short), after a little additional cable rearranging and zip-tying today. Who was talking shit about red and black?
I would take a picture of it turned on with the LED's lit up but the reflections off the plexiglass window in my office kind of ruin the shot. Saggy GPU's are the bane of my existence, although I have hatched a plan for what could be a halfway-decent-looking jury-rig fix involving one of the removed expansion slot cover brackets.
So call me crazy, but I wonder if it would be worth at least the phone call if you check with your landlord if there was a way to fish Ethernet cable to the other room. Then again, there's always the college way of "use cable staples to run the cable along the ceiling and drill holes through the wall in the top corner."
I have a house, so I automatically wondered why you weren't running cat6 everywhere.
Now, I need find who I can bug about getting the entire state of Delaware wired for Google Fiber. Our state has the population of Greater San Diego (who is already slated to receive GFiber), but we are also home to the head offices of every major bank/credit card company, due to favorable incorporation laws. We're also home to DuPont and Gore. The only issue is that we are "close" to Philadelphia; which is Comcast's home city. However, we have FiOS, so there's got to be a way to make this happen.

They won't even let us paint the walls, so I would not be optimistic about them sanctioning or carrying out such a project.
In other news, this is why component manufacturers should stick to "safe" color schemes like red and black:
Look at this fucking thing. It wouldn't be so bad if the logo LED wasn't green, but good look finding any other parts to match it unless you just get all-black everything.
So one thing I am really behind on is monitors. I have my old one which is a 22.1" LCD but I will shop for a new one eventually. What is a decent type to look for?
I even tried using a different program to initialize it, and it errors out as well. (Tried Aomei partition assistant)
Any idea's about this? I've never run into it before.
My motherboard has diagrams in its manual telling you specifically which SATA ports you should be using if you are using an M.2 SSD. Might want to take a look and make sure you haven't put them in a bad configuration.
