I have Yomawari and Bhikkhuni Drive both preordered through Amazon in the US. At this point I'm just ordering vita games to wind up on watch lists.

I love that backhanded wording under the reason.

Those of us that buy this game are not reasonable adults as classified by the standards of morality, decency and propriety set forth by the Strayan gubment. :+1:

Huh? The game is no more perverse than Senran Kagura.

You don't like something so you think other adults with different tastes shouldn't be able to enjoy it? That's a very childish and immature reaction.

Use informative labeling, make sure people know what it is, and let them decide on an individual level whether or not it's OK. I don't see the problem.

Of course, platform holders like Nintendo, Sony, etc. reserve the right to disallow certain types of content on their systems. But that didn't happen this time.

So is complaining about censorship when underage panty shots are cut from a game before it's released.

And yes, there are ABSOLUTELY things I don't enjoy that I don't think other adults should have access to; over the top objectivity and pedophilia among them and we all know these games cater in that shit way way too much.

I will say that it's super shitty to cut the game completely, tho. Just remove the unnecessary stuff and release it.

Eh. My generation still had the comics code, we had people trying to ban Dungeons & Dragons, looking for satanic messages in records when you played them backwards, we had Harper Lee being pulled out of school libraries and Tipper Gore's crusade against offensive lyrics. I think if there's one constant to the world, it's that someone, somewhere, will have a burr up their behind and will justify it by saying "think of the children!"

In the meantime, I will keep putting money in the right hand of companies that pander to me, and Internet crusaders can put their righteous indignation in the left hand, and I will let the company itself look at its hands and decide which hand is keeping the lights on.

I'm all for better representation, less exploitative content, and so on. But I don't want to get there by banning stuff.

Aye, there's the rub. Am I conscious of everything that's profoundly pernicious in Dragon's Crown? Yes. Would I ever want Vanillaware to curb or censor or tone themselves down? God, no.

    It's not simple.

We're at a point where, at least, a lot of us are aware of the problems in media, and new creators are addressing it with original works that are part of the solution. Things are getting better, as a generalization - but things are still problematic, in general.

It has taken decades, so far, to get to this point, and it will take many more.

I unashamedly like those problematic games.

I buy them pretty much without exception. I feel like if anyone has a problem with that, it's definitely their problem and not mine.

Actually I've been pretty happy with companies making Asian versions with English options.

So... Grain of salt, since this is coming from NeoGAF, but apparently there's a possibility of a new handheld being debuted at the Sept. 7 PlayStation Conference?

Guys I don't want to metamod but maybe take the censorship stuff elsewhere

It's fine to talk about certain Vita games being removed or not being released due to censorship but the broader conversation over whether censorship is okay is off-topic

This thread is literally the only place I get reliable Vita news and I would like for it to remain open

I'd put the odds slightly below Microsoft announcing a handheld because Satya Nadella turns out to be the world's biggest Neptunia fan and is sad that Vert doesn't have a younger sister, but this generation has been so damn weird already...

Maybe a slim Vita redesign for Japan? Seems the most likely of a list of unlikely things.

My short list is Darkest Dungeon, Cosmic Star Heroine, and Trails of Cold Steel 2.

Darkest Dungeon is definitely at the top of my list. I enjoyed what I played on PC but it isn't really the kind of game I like to sit in front of a computer for. It begs to be played on a handheld.

    #1 Darkest Dungeon

    Then...
Attack on Titan, Exist Archive, Shantae, Valkyrie Drive, Yomawari.

Oh also Mercenary Kings if it actually comes out thia fall, and Hyper Light Drifter on Vita would leap into the top 5 GotY for me.

Psycho-Pass and Yowamari here. I just finished rewatching all of PP and am looking forward to more of Akane vs. the Sybil system. Portable seems like the way to go for a visual novel.

Also Yomawari looks creepy and comes with another game that I never got around to, so big win there.

Darkest Dungeon is going to be great on Vita. Or at least, it should be. Assuming it runs fine and controls well, it's gonna be a great pick-up for handheld.

I should check out the Trails of Cold Steel games... and I still have Gravity Rush staring me in the face every time I boot up my Vita.

I tried to hop back into KZ: Mercenary the other night, played a couple more missions... it's so, so gorgeous and impressive looking, but I simply cannot get a hang of the shooting. Like, it's playable, I can get through missions, but it's so clunky and not at all fun to me. And I'm a big, big Killzone fan.

I keep thinking maybe I just need to find the right gun, but every time I play, I blow all of my credits on a new gun for that reason and I haven't been able to buy any other cool things (i.e. drones, tech).

I could see that. They've already done a region-specific cost cutting redesign with the PSP E1000/PSP "Street", but that thing sucked (they removed wifi, video out, and it only had monaural sound).

Honestly if it's coming out of Sony these days it's more than likely something to do with the PS4, Neo, or PSVR, which is clearly what they are focusing on. My bet is a slightly redesigned PS4 with a PSVR receiver built in that they'll sell in a bundle with the headset or something like that, or maybe even just a PS4 slim or something. It's hard for me to believe that Sony would put effort forward for the Vita in any territory after they literally did not even mention it during E3, but a Vita 3K would be pretty awesome.
