Anyone got recommendations on a cheap AC adapter/charger cable for the Vita? Thinking of getting an extra one for work. I see a few cheap third party knockoffs on Amazon, so just wondering which ones were reliable.

I think any usb to micro usb will work. I use the same Amazon Essentials charger dongle for my phone and vita

The OLED Vitas use a proprietary cable; the newer LCD ones use micro usb. So the answer to the question depends on which model Snuggles has.
Proprietary memory cards for the Vita are completely excusable because Sony knew that they had to have crazy levels of encryption in order to prevent the Vita from being cracked like an egg (the way the PSP was from day 1).
The prices for their proprietary memory cards are the most bullshit thing since bullshit came to bullshit town though.
It seems like a no brainer to go "If people can buy huge memory cards at a decent price, they'll be more inclined to fill said memory cards by buying a bunch of stuff from the PSN store..." but what do I know.
I have a 4GB and a 32GB card and if I could swap them out for one of those PSP style dual MicroSD card adapters I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, Sony looked at the PS Vita memory cards and saw them as a revenue stream, hence their price. If they had made them dirt cheap I want to believe that they would have more than made up for it in increased Vita sales/video game sales.
If things pan out with piracy on 3.60 than I think memory card sales are going to spike.
If you're on the fence about buying a 16GB/32GB/64GB card, now might be a good time, because there is a chance prices might start to climb in the near future.
So I am about to start playing Orishika Tainted Bloodlines, and I was wondering if anyone played it? It was free play month and has a platinum that is fairly easy but with a grind so I am going to go for it. Does anyone have any tips or good resources I can read?

Um, how much do you want to know and how easy do you want to make it for yourself? The in-game stuff is pretty awful and there's a SHITLOAD of things you can do to make things a lot easier for yourself that are fairly poorly explained or just straight up hidden. There are also a few mechanics you can use to really blast through some of the mechanics that are designed to limit fast progression.

Yeah, I dropped it after only a few hours because it was so goddamn obtuse about shit.
Man, Piracy is the last thing I want to see on the Vita.
Homebrew on the other hand is spiffy. People are currently porting the NVidia Shield streaming stuff to the Vita to stream PC games to it.
I wish that was available officially, but the Vita just isn't appealing enough for any company to care I suspect. But GOD I wish I could just download a Steam streaming app on it.

I really liked it overall, but there was definitely a point early where things weren't clicking, I got a bad set of kids, and everything felt super frustrating. Nueko and the whole story there was also just... awful. Especially being forced to use her for all the major battles too. She started out decent, but flagged BADLY so you were always carrying her shitty ass.
It felt much better and much less frustrating overall once I figured out how the maps work, how to optimize my time, and said "fuck this" to the whole key and heirloom system. That shit was... obnoxious at best and takes so little to go straight to the best stuff and so long to do things the 'right' way.

They were totally a revenue stream. Sony wanted to make Vita profitable from day one, but to do that with internal memory likely would have made the price even higher. With memory cards separate, the core price of Vita seems cheaper.
But you're right, the cost should have gone down by now since manufacturing costs decrease over time. Especially since you can get reliable 32GB cards for ten bucks now. I know Sony doesn't like to discount, but good lord, Vita needs all the sales help it can get.
Sony has moved Vita's desk to the basement, next to the furnace. Now they have fixed the accounting error that allowed Vita to continue drawing a paycheck for the last while. The rest should just sort itself out.

Sony will be holding a special press event in New York City on September 7. The company didn’t specify what the event is for, but we can be reasonably sure that it will be to unveil its next PlayStation 4, dubbed the “PS4 Neo.” This news would be enough to justify an event, but if a recent rumor is true, then it is possible that Sony will also be announcing an upgraded version of its current handheld device: the PlayStation Vita.
A Japanese blog found an FCC listing that had patents for two new wireless chips. One chip had the model name of AW-CB262. This is similar to the PS4 line of hardware and could be for the PS4 Neo. The other chip has the model name of J20H091. This one is similar to that of the PS Vita line of hardware. Due to this similarity, some think that Sony will update the Vita. The NeoGAF user who started a thread about this rumor has dubbed this the “PS Vita Trinity,” mocking the Matrix-sounding names for PlayStation VR (Project Morpheus) and the PS4 Neo.
Adding legitimacy to this rumor is a letter of short-term confidentiality that Sony sent to the FCC. The letter states that external photos, internal photos, test setup photos, and user manual are to be kept confidential for 180 days from the date of Grant of Equipment Authorization.

I'd be very surprised if they made a cheaper Vita, or cheaper memory cards, but we'll have to wait and see. At the least, I expect the Neo and the newly teased PS4 slim to be officially unveiled.
They've done it before with the PSP Street, but they also butchered the system to achieve that low price point (no wifi, one mono speaker, etc).
Memory is pretty cheap now, a low cost Vita with 32GB of built in storage might be a nice way to reinvigorate sales. There are still tons of awesome games on the PSN, if you picked up your first Vita in 2016 you would have a fairly sizable library to check out.
But since why would anything good ever happen they will probably announce a new portable PlayStation device (which is why they patented a new low power wifi chip) and everyone will get all excited but then they will show off some sort of PlayStation tablet or something stupid and everyone will be disappointed.

Better WiFi would be awesome for streaming. Slap on a couple more triggers on the back and I'll bite for sure!
I would absolutely hop on a new Vita. I mean, not just a redesign, but a next-gen one that plays Vita games and does Remote Play a little better and is more ergonomic and such. I have had some amazing, hundreds-of-hours experiences with certain Vita games, but I find that I'm kind of reluctant to pick it up lately because I don't really enjoy the feeling of it in my hands and because I can generally play what I want to play on it on my PS4. Plus I haven't been traveling too much.
But I dig it and I feel like I want to get back to it. Someone was just telling me that Axiom Verge is fantastic on Vita.
If anything, I'd guess either a minor revision, or the current wifi chips they use are no longer manufactured so they're simply looking for a replacement to use in any newly manufactured units.
[...] but I find that I'm kind of reluctant to pick it up lately because I don't really enjoy the feeling of it in my hands [...]
Do you have the OLED or the slim?
I found the OLED Vita awkward at first, but now I actually consider it the most comfortable handheld I've owned.
I think it's because of the rounded sides resting in my palms. The 3DS, in contrast, gives me cramps.
By the way, a tip for anyone who starts up their Vita and discovers that all their data has gone missing:
Try switching off the system and reseating the memory card (you might have to do it a couple of times).
Happened to me recently and caused a bit of panic before I fixed it.

I pretty much just can't play my 3DS anymore. It's the New Leaf 3DSXL and I even got comfort grips for it that just did nothing. I really hope the NX is more comfortable to hold since Nintendo's likely going to have the handheld space all to themselves next time. (I'm not getting my hopes up about a Threeta even though I would really, really like one)

My hopes for that are that Nintendo gives me it.
I mean, the PSP and Vita basically iterated on the GBA anyways. Why not go full circle.
My hands hurt after any long term play, portable or otherwise. That's not a ergonomic thing, that's a repetition thing... keeping your hands in any position too long will cause pain. No amount of redesign will fix that.

I'm tempted to pick up a refurbished Vita for less than $120, but 32GB cards are still selling for $60. That's just galling.
Yeah. The 64gb cards are around $85.
The proprietary memory is a bitch. I should know. I have 2 64gb cards and 2 32gb cards these days for my devices.

Same question applies regarding cheaper third party alternatives.

Honestly, being more ergonomic than the 3ds isn't exactly a challenge.

The PSP was more of a GameGear 2.0 than a GBA. Black, even, rounded edges and a focus on a (for the time) enormous screen.
They were both also similar in that they had hardware that utterly curbstomped the local Nintendo handheld but still sold a fraction of its numbers.
