So in the last couple weeks, my PS4 has been acting up. Namely that it keeps powering itself down. At first I would be able to play for a few hours with no issue but then suddenly I'd be greeted with a black screen and my unit being off. I could turn it back on with no issue and play unhindered.
In the last 2 weeks, however, even getting the unit to stay on has been a struggle. I would hit the power, it would start to power up, the blue light would intermittently glow blue... Then the white light comes on and it powers down. I could do this several times with the same result. Then by chance, it can start up with no issues.
I've already taken out the HDD to make sure its got a snug connection. I've also tried a different power cord with the same results. I've initialized the unit with no improvement. Whenever I've tried to go into safe mode, I've only been able to stay in it for 20 seconds or so before it powers itself down again.
My initial thoughts are that it's either a bad HDD or power supply. Unfortunately I don't have a spare hard drive sitting around to test. Although when I can get the unit to stay on, it doesn't look like I have any issues with saved data. Yes it is out of warranty. So I throw this discussion out to the currents of the internet. Has anyone come across this particular problem and know if it is one problem and not another? It'll cost $160 just to send it in for repairs.
Am I better off just buying a new one (Amazon Prime Day is tomorrow... Might be PS4s on the cheap), buying a new HDD (with the chance of it not being the issue at all), or eating the repair cost?

Well I tried their live chat support (if they can call it that...) and after telling the person everything I've done, I get this canned response:
So it's looks like I'm back to square one.
After doing some more searching on bad power supplies, it looks like that might be my culprit. Looks like I'm gonna shop around. After I open it up ofcourse.
