You can get the Realism Pro mod to make the weapons more accurate, fix their range and projectile velocity, damage, etc. by changing them to their real-world values. It makes the early weapons a good bit more effective, but keep in mind the NPCs are using the same weapons properties, so their uncanny accuracy is only enhanced which will necessitate you making full use of cover whenever you get in a firefight. At least until you pick up a set of quality armor (Stalker Armor or better).
sweet!
anyone have trouble with installing this mod? I don't want to loose my game.
It just changes gun and ammunition properties. It doesn't affect saved games at all.
Got the "I want to be rich!" ending
Also, I didn't kill Strelok. I thought Marked One IS Strelok, just with a slight case of amnesia. Is that correct?

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
how do I readed other dead stalker PDAs? Are they going to be an item I find, do I gotta be at their corpse, do I keep a log when I loot a stalker, what?

Is there a demo of this game available, by any chance?
1.67Ghz Centrino Intel P4m
1.5Gb RAM
64MB ATI Radeon 9600 Mobile
I can run it at near lowest settings at around 1024x768 with texture and object detail at medium-high and it's playable. It looks ugly, but runs. After I got to Pripyat though, I had to drop it down to medium texture/object detail and 800x600 to maintain a playable framerate.
Now, personally I can play at 15+ FPS and thus consider that playable. A lot of people don't feel that way, and blah blah yadda yadda, but I was able to experience the game to the point that I was satisfied on this particular machine. When I get home and build a new desktop machine this summer, I imagine it will run a lot better, and I'll be a lot happier.

1) PDAs come in a few forms, but typically you are updated when you search them. Audio logs are read aloud and noted in your own PDA, stashes are marked on your map, and found PDAs are kept under their own section in your notes. You might also occasionally have to deliver a flash drive somewhere, which is kept as a physical item and cannot be accessed.
2) No demo that I'm aware of, regrettably.
3) It is memory intensive, no doubt. I've mentioned my specs before in the thread; my computer's only seven months old, but it was behind the curve when I bought it. With dynamic lighting the game eats my hardware for breakfast and it tends to chug beneath 20fps or worse. With them off I can crank the detail all the way up save for antialiasing.
By way of comparison, Oblivion and Company of Heroes have nasty habits of chugging on me, but everything else currently installed runs very well - some stuff that's not too recent but still resource hungry: Vampire: Bloodlines, FEAR, Call of Cthulhu, etc. If you can run any of those at medium-to-high detail without so much as a stutter, I think you'll be fine with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. after some tweaking.
Hey does anyone know how to do something about the Psi-emissions other then overdose on medkits
I tend to cure things with bullets. Unless you're talking about brain scorchers, in which case... wait, I still use lots of bullets. ;-)
In all honest I think I may have skipped a good portion of the begining of the game. Once I reached the bar apparently I headed straight for Lake Yanter and got inside the lab. I couldn't believe how difficult that was beating that level. I had used so many medkits that after I shut it down I thought my guy had past out because he was so high.

Do a quick save/quick load. Tends to fix the stuck-up bartender issue.
Nope.
I know it's a pain in the ass, but I understand that if you leave the Bar area and go back NPCs are more or less reset, though they get reset after a save/reload too. I can't say for certain as I've never had a problem with the bartender.
I just press my use key ("e" for me, I think "f" by default) a bunch of times and the barman comes closer. I don't know if "e" actually does anything, though, or if he just takes a while to walk over.
Quick question: does anyone know where I can find 7.62x54 ammunition? I'm trying to get ammo for this sweet sniper I stole but the only ammo I've ever found for it was on the guy who was carrying it, and I've only seen one guy carrying it. I really don't want to have to ditch this and settle for something else as it's a fine weapon. I've checked the Bar, the Freedom camp, the dude at Yan-whatever, and the vendor at the beginning of the game. None of them have it .

I've had the same 2 clips (22rounds) since I picked up the rifle, and later found one body that had another 8 rounds on it. It's in insanely small supply, from what I've seen. I just make sure I'm picky with my shots: only using it when I have to take someone out too far away for my assault rifle, and then only when I have a decently clear shot. If anyone knows of a spot or Stalker I can find some on, do tell
Raw's Revamp Mod - Just install this mod. It's a text/interface localization mod. Fixes all sorts of shit, like 'car park' instead of 'garage', and 'cellar' instead of 'attic'. Definitely install before playing for minimal headaches.
I get a 404 on this one.

The barman still won't talk to me. Each time I load a quicksave and he doesn't talk to me, I go out with my desert eagle and rpg launcher to kill everyone in the duty camp. Anyone have a different solution before I go kill more duty guys?

you know, i really hope that isn't your strategy for real life. Generally, if you want people to listen to you, shooting all their friends and shouting "LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO", it's not going to advance you too far up those particular social ladders.
in other news, i've never actually had that problem, so i really don't know what to advise you. But it does suck

I just found out that the ammo is easier to find after (minor spoiler):
you kill the first brain scorcher
or deal with it somehow (I didn't read the specifics).

you can find some at the Bar (it's random) or, at the helicopter crash zone in the wild lands.
Ya know, I always laugh at that stupid fucking joke. Every time. Heh. I say it so much that my girlfriend says it now (In Soviet Russia, girlfriend says you!). Goddamnit!
