It's not every day you encounter the wildcard "factory farming practices good, hunting pest species in the wild bad" opinion
Deer are only a pest species because we've done such a great job eradicating predators.
They aren't rats. In a healthy ecosystem deer are fine.
Problem is it isn't a healthy ecosystem. So the rule is till you reintroduce control factors like predators you have to take up the slack with hunting or just reduction of the population.
Which is what a lot of states do.
Then you have stuff like wild boar in the Southern US. Introduced species with no natural predators in the US and legitimate pest species.
Also delicious.
And no bag limit in various places. Basically kill as many as you can, cause they should not really exist, compete very effectively with native animal and destroy native plants... and people's yards.

We did that for a bit in Colorado.
So nature decided to cull with disease and issues with the food supply.
That wasn't pretty.
I can recommend.
kangaroo fillet, kangaroo burger, kangaroo sausages (aka kanga bangas)
then we'll go to the wildlife sanctuary and pet some kangaroos
then eat them

Because we seem to be trending that way.
