I kinda can't help but think that sink large was only cast because ha ha little people are funny

He's a currently well known actor on a fan favorite show who has taken geeky roles in the past.

I'm not as cynical of zinc charge's casting as you are. It's a bad movie, sure, but I'm betting it's mostly script and sandler related.

Adam Sandler is the worst, and not from a personal perspective, he is objectively (almost) the worst, and I think he keeps Rob Schnider near him for that purpose, just to look a lot better and politically correct by contrast.

I saw Ex Machina, I found it very good, the concept was very good, the robot was very well played... but the actors playing the human parts I think were less than formidable. Their characters are poorly written, their motivations seem pretty ridiculous, and I dont want to spoil it for anyone who hasnt seen it yet.
I just have to say that the premise is VERY interesting, and the movie is not centered on the gimmicky side of sci-fi and robots, Im certainly going to look for more movies/books dealing with that specific subject.

Also, Im probably really REALLY late for this, but I saw Cloud Atlas just a couple of days ago... before watching the movie I thought it was hype from a big budget film with big names in it... I was so wrong, I loved every second of it. Im looking forward to a second, third, and fourth viewing of it.

Yes, with a quick verbal "boom." You take a man's peko, you deny him his dab, all that is left is to rise up and tear down the walls of Jericho with a ".....not!" -TexiKen

Honestly, the dude probably wanted a break from GoT stuff, and playing a ridiculous caricature of a stuck-in-the-80s gamer was a breath of fresh air.

I would bet dollars to donuts that Dinklage is riding the wave of popularity while he can and cashing his paychecks while he can make bank.

To be fair, I only suggested it because when I described it as Bioshock: The Movie, mully's eyes went full anime.

Snowpiercer was worth it for the school scene and the big New Years fight. It started to go off the rails (heh) after the school.

Having listened to the How Did This Get Made episode for it and seeing it on mute in a bar, I am really intrigued. I didn't realize they leaned so hard into the "the future is weird and kind of lame" angle. It's so odd.

I think what frustrates me the most about Adam Sandler

Is that we KNOW he's funny, we KNOW he can act, and we KNOW he can make something worthwhile when he turns it all on

But it just seems like he doesn't want to a lot of the time?

In my more youthful, foolish days, I thought 'Funny People' was going to be a turning point for him

There he is, up on screen, basically playing a hyper realised version of himself, and he is knocking it out of the park. You could tell his performance was really coming from somewhere. I was excited. I was psyched to see what he was planning to do next, after basically laying bare for the world to see.

It turned out to be Grown Ups, followed by Jack and Jill

    God

    dammit

I watched Manhattan for the first time today.

Despite my dislike for Woody Allen. a lot of people have listed it as a Good Movie due to the cinematography.

To be honest, I was expecting something more? A lot of the scenes were nice, but not exactly amazing, I kept looking at the movie wanting more, but never getting it.

Adam Sandler is the American Uwe Boll.

Sure, thre's a market for his movies. But, there's also a market for getting punched in the nuts. Doesn't make you smart for liking it.

There was no market for Boll films. It's why he can no longer make films.

Sandler is a lot like Wil Farrel and Jim Carrey to me...there is talent there for sure but it takes the right script and a firm directorial hand to get it out of them. When left to their own devices they are just a mess in any format that last over 5-10 minutes. Not coincidently the amount of time of the average skit on a sketch show...where they all rose to fame.

Don't deprive yourself like that. At least watch Chinatown. Or The Pianist. Those are truly amazing films.

But I do get it. I refused to watch Ender's Game until I inadvertently paid for it through a sub like HBO. It was the right move.

Not watching a few movies is NOT "depriving yourself". There's THOUSANDS of other ones out there to watch.

I had to decide to just back off boycotting media that people I personally loath participated in. Mostly because there are just too many terrible people in Hollywood that it becomes a thing where one is bound to be attached in some way to a project and that doesn't invalidate the work of the hundred odd other not terrible people who also participated.

I just think Adam Sandler is old and rich and doesn't have anything to prove anymore. Unlike other folks who would reach that point and retire he just keeps putting out movies because it's fun.
