Is anyone else planning on skipping the Oryx stream in a couple weeks to not spoil the raid? I kind of want to go in first time with a full team seeing everything for the first time.
I didn't pick up the game until a couple weeks before HoW, so I read up on Vault and CE to get up to speed. I'm excited to actually get brand new content for the first time that I get to experience for myself!
The Oryx stream isn't about the raid itself. It's about the Patrols & Public Events on the Dreadnaught. The one before that is about the strike.
I doubt Bungie would spoil the raid at all.
OK, that does make more sense.
On the Bungie front page it shows Destiny Y2, Strike the Dreadnaught, and Court of Oryx for the streams, I assumed CoO was the raid name.

I cant even check how many times I killed Skolas since that Bungie part of their website crashes my browser everytime I load it up (building new PC soon) I wanted to bring up our Bulletproof match last week - Not Responding x 6.
Aw yis got some vanguard marks to just buy the basic purple arms from the Titan class master dude, swapped out old legendary arms for Helm of Inmost Light, and bam 30 -> 32 last night.
Now I need am etheric light for my vision of confluence and I'll be in business.

I was gonna do a PoE 34/32 run tomorrow night on the Xbone if you guys want to hit that with me. I usually start around 11 pm EST but that's very flexible.

I'm extremely curious how they're going to translate having 200 max Vanguard and Crucible marks into Legendary marks. Will they total them per-character and that's how many Legendary we get? Is the max going to be 200 Legendary? I'm guessing 200; if we lose out in the translation, too bad. They likely don't want people buying THAT much new gear on day 1.

If you guys need another or two for that timeframe, could likely get that on the calendar.
Going in blind to the new raid is going to be fantastic. Set raid teams or at least rocking The100 would hopefully give everyone the opportunity to experience that joy.

That sounds like a horrible idea. If you want to restrict how much they buy you just adjust all the prices to double and people keep their "earned" marks while it being effectively like they lost half.
Since it's purely a PR move, perhaps you're right and Bungie will completely fuck it up.
Edit: Actually Daily Heroic/Crucible are the only sources mentioned for new marks so far. Though those rewards appear to be 10 marks though. That'd only be 140 a week though. Hmm...

They'll probably allow you to convert them to the new currency at some kind of ratio. Here's hoping it's not something hugely unfavorable like 10:1, but more like 5:1 or better. However, not knowing how much the new gear costs it's hard to say what kind of ratio will be fair. My gut says 200 marks will equate to one new piece of armor, gun, or a few small items like class items, shells, etc.

Hmm, I should talk with my bros about what to do when TTK drops. I assume they will want to keep raiding once a week like we do now. None of us were leveled enough for VoG when it was the end game, and we progressed through Crota normal/hard as a three man team (and obviously PoE is only 3 anyways). I doubt the new raid will be 3 mannable off the bat like Crota was. At least I hope not.

I hope TTK isn't able to be began and fully completed the day it is released like HoW was.
I'm not suggesting gated content, but some curve would be nice. I mean, the hardcore are gonna hardcore...but maybe the changes to light/xp will make it so people won't be at the cap that afternoon and have cleared the highest content before midnight. :rotate:

Well yeah, and even if it is we aren't going to be running it that week. My one bro had completely unleveled perks on his gear for our first Skolas kill (fucking casual) because he generally only logs on once a week to raid with us. So I guess we still have time to figure it out.

Are these the only modifiers Skolas has anymore? I need a Skolas kill, but fuck lightswitch and small arms
1 Hive --- Exposure - Guardian shields are increased but do not replenish.
Brawler - Guardian Melee damage is greatly increased.
2 Vex --- Grounded - Players take more damage while airborne.
Airborne - Players deal more damage while in the air.
3 Cabal --- Catapult - Grenade recharge rate is greatly increased.
Arc Burn - Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.
4 Fallen --- Specialist - Special Weapon damage is favored.
Juggler - No ammo drops for your equipped weapon.
5 Fallen --- Trickle - Recharge of abilities is significantly reduced.
Small Arms - Primary Weapon damage is favored.
6 Boss --- Small Arms - Primary Weapon damage is favored.
Lightswitch - Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.

I think the only thing that varies week to week is the round 6 modifiers? And those seem to flip back and forth between small arms / lightswitch and catapult / angry.

I totally agree! About the "lost in translation" part. If they add up each character's V/C marks then that character gets the sum in Legendary marks, it's be amazing. There's no way that happens, precisely because it favors us. =P Heh.

King's Fall is the name of the raid, yeah. Court of Oryx is a special player-instigated public event in the Dreadnaught that, according to DeeJ, "pits you against different combinations of different bosses in different scenarios.”

Based on the HoW model of gear distribution (and removing etheric light from the equation) they will probably put the "best" gear on a rotating system where you can't get it all at once anyway.
Legendary Marks will probably buy you, at best, subpar gear, like it currently does already. Probably good enough to get you going, but nothing that is going to stay with you if you're tackling harder content.
Which is fine. But it also means there really doesn't need to be a cap on Marks. Granted, there never really was a need, and I wonder if it's not what it is due to memory issues like inventory; but letting you keep all 400 marks doesn't mean they have to double the price of gear.
It just means they need to have some other method to ensure people don't walk in and buy the best gear on day one.
And that's easy enough to solve anyway. Require a certain character or light level to buy the higher light gear so you have to either buy it in steps, or get it in the wild then come back and buy the better stuff. And provide those 'steps' of gear for marks so they're being spent, so that the player wants to earn more to buy the next tier.
I'd be surprised if the mark gear out of the gate in TTK is much, if any, better than 34 HoW gear. Because it doesn't need to be, it just needs to be good enough to get people started, who may have marks and didn't have good gear prior (or all str! wooo!) and get them into TTK content to start looking for/earning better gear.
And anyway, even if the cap is 400, it'd be easy enough for them to just mail you the difference, so you can grab your extra marks once you've spent what you have.
So it's been ages since I leveled anybody but don't the Vanguard vendors have level dependent gear? Like, you could always see the purple marks stuff but the white/green gear changed based on your level.
If they still offered not 40 gear for marks that would solve the issue pretty quick I think. Well that and level restricted gear going higher than 20 which I just assume is gonna happen.

I have a serious concern with this because while similar features of other games have shown to be pretty fun, they have also shown to be short lived, and once the playerbase/interest peters off, the ability to really participate in this sort of thing completely disappears.
And if you're late to the party, sucks to be you, you'll end up standing around for ages waiting for other people to maybe trigger/complete this sort of thing; when at launch it was like christmas.
I hope they have a plan for that, a lessening of requirements to 'instigate' an event as time goes on, and a relative difficulty to how many players are available to participate.

I think the name of the raid is "King's Fall"
Have you seen him? Now you have
I think the only thing that varies week to week is the round 6 modifiers?
