The Quality of Life improvements are so substantial. And they're so gorgeous. I love the new UI elements, and the story looks like it's a real thing, and factions may be a meaningful thing, and the Dreadnaught, and the Ghosts, and and and it feels like Christmas Eve. And Sept. 15 is so soon!
I can't remember, how does raid loot work again? Is it 'once a week, you can get drops for each difficulty' or is it 'once a week, you can get drops for the first difficulty you do but not the other'?

If you do hard mode, you basically get 2 rolls of loot at each point. So you can do NM > HM for loots, or just do HM and get double loot (only matters much in Crota, as there are different boss drops if you're on NM or HM specifically).

How it works: do VoG Hard once per week per character. Anything else won't give you anything extra. Crota is dependent on what you want. Hunger of Crota? Do normal. Word of Crota? Do hard.

Technically you get an exotic roll at the end of any raid, which is about the only reason for NM Vault once you're familiar.
So if you REALLY want an extra exotic chance, then it's worth running both.

Well, it does in the sense that you won't get a double roll on fatebringer or mythoclast or timepiece (I think these are the only hard-only guns? Might be missing one or two). You'll just get a single roll, so your chances are roughly halved.

VoG on hard give double drops, each roll is from the combined normal/hard loot list. We'll see someone get double fatebringers or double fusion rifles. What this means is while you can still get those normal mode drops on hard, you have a lesser chance because the hard mode items are included as well. The only reason I could see running normal is if you want something specific like VoC (the loot table is smaller so IN THEORY you have a higher chance of getting it in one roll VS two rolls on a larger list). If you're not looking for a specific normal mode weapon, yeah HM is the way to go.
