It seems like knowledge is leading the current vote. Which is not bad, tech will help us kill.

Industry or might would make a nice secondary role.

Well, you don't have to resign. You can pop in a vote whenever you wish. Voting is not compulsory. Or, you can take a break till stuff blows over. I don't want people to feel forced out because they can't spend some arbitrary amount of time reading this over.

    Good luck at work though.

    I'll get it up tomorrow.

    edited August 2015
Due to save file loss, this update is void.

Ho boy did this get ugly fast.

Right off the bat, Pinfeldorf's expedition sacks the alien nest. We gain science and energy from that.

First Platoon (soldiers) is fielded, and immediately goes to cover Plinfeldorfs expedition. They see heavy combat against wolvebeetles, but hold out for now.

In diplomatic news, Brazil, Pan Asia, and The Slavic Federation all make land fall. Foreign Secretary Faragru tells the ARC not to settle near our cities, and they refuse. Troubling news. Both the Protectorate (our southern neighbor) and PAC ask for cooperation agreements. So we made two friends to one enemy.

Second Platoon is also fielded, and makes their way south. They find a large body of water separating ARC and is, with two isthmus connecting their continent to ours. Past the isthmus, we encounter a truely startling sight. They call it a seigeworm, and our current analysis says it could level Abydos without breaking a sweat.

    ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside|1024:640&composite-to=*,*|1024:640&background-color=black.jpg

We build a settler and send it south, as there is good ground to make a city there. ARC says that such a settlement is harmful to a lasting peace on the planet. In a candid moment, Chief Justice Sir Fab remarks that the new city is "mostly harmless". The name sticks.

We build another solider, and they heard north to explore the second isthmus. The platoon is ambushed, and killed to the last trooper by a new kind of flying aliens that spit acid.

    ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside|1024:640&composite-to=*,*|1024:640&background-color=black.jpg

Pinfeldorf's expedition explores one of two derelict settlements they found. Survivors of a previous settlement attempt are found and shipped back to Abydos. It's not all good news though, for First Platoon is attacked my more wolfbeetles than expected. They are also killed to the last man. A new platoon of soldiers in raised to replace them.

    ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside|1024:640&composite-to=*,*|1024:640&background-color=black.jpg

We get a free platoon of soldiers form founding our first city. They join our platoon in the south and engage alien nests down there. After taking heavy loses, they retreat back to the safety of Mostly Harmless.

Two more platoons of soldiers head west towards where First Platoon fell. They find more aliens than expected and hold ground.

Citizens are asked to vote on the following:
What Should Our Second Virtue Tree be?
    -Might
    -Prosperity
    -Industry

What should our Primary Affinity be:
    -Supremacy
    -Purity
    -Harmony

How should we deal with the aliens given our recent loses? Note, they are also guarding very important expedition sites.
    -Back down
    -Attack them
-Attempt to gather expedition research without further Altercations

How should we approach the Kavithan Protectorate, our southern neighbor?
-Aggressively expand and cut off their avenues of expansion.
    -Give them room to expand
-Ignore them and focus on ARC, our western neighbor

There's about 10 techs and 20 building options to choose from right now. Far to many to post right now, we'll get back to tech once more important choices pop up. Right now its grab all the low tier techs asap.

Excerpt from the Doctrinal Discussions of Lord Asmodeus, First Hierophant of the Church of the Human Sol

"As Humanity spreads among the Stars, we do now what has been done before. We trod a well worn though aged path. Our spiritual antecedents walked among these Stars long before we were ever born as a species, and we must not dishonor their memory or the unforged memory of our descendants. Humanity is not a result of mere random processes, of natural evolution delivering us to this higher form. I do not, as some of my detractors say, deny Humanities evolution from lower forms or our genesis on Earth, third world of Sol. Rather, I believe our existence is no mere accident. Those Who Came Before were explorers and colonists. As beings far advanced us even now, they did not come with alien ships and alien biochemistry to taint our beloved Earth with their own unique origin. Instead, they planted the seed of themselves in our most ancient ancestors, which they trusted would express itself in the millions or perhaps billions of years of evolution to follow. Our Human Form is the Divine Form of our predecessors in whose fossilized footprints we now tread, gifted to us by them to carry on their legacy and so we could be Sol's legacy, Earth's legacy as well. So, we owe it to them to stay true to our Divine Human form to keep ourselves from tainting or becoming too tainted by this world upon which we find itself. However, we also owe it to them, to ourselves, and to this world to extend our Mastery over it, to mold this world to our design but also to mold our minds and spirits to this world, while being careful to keep our Forms as Pure as we can."

    Virtues:

Our Second Virtue should be Prosperity. We have begun to hone our minds and spirits, we must also keep our Divine Human Form healthy and strong, to foster it and mold it in the way that benefits us while keeping us true to ourselves and our Predecessors. The Health of our minds and bodies are both paramount.

    Affinity:

The Primary Affinity of our people should be to Purity. Purity of our Divine Form, Purity of our Divine Spirit, Purity of the our beloved Earth and Sol whose memory and legacy we carry on. This should not be our only concern, but it should be paramount to us. Our ancient Predecessors, our oldest spiritual Creators guided us to this form for a reason, and we must honor their choice and hold it Holy.

    Aliens:

We should attempt to gather expedition research without antagonizing the local wildlife. We are the colonists on their world, and it should be our duty to learn as much as we can from this world without damaging it unduly. Of course, we must also defend ourselves against them, though they are this lands indigenous life, they are but Lower Forms, and we must protect the Higher Forms which we have developed against undue destruction.

    Neighbors:

Avoiding conflict with our neighbors is important, but our polity was the first to arrive and we must assert our claim to this world and its knowledge. As such we should cut them off to keep them from expanding into our sovereign territory.

This is a dangerous world we find ourselves in, no doubt about that. Focusing on Might is a tempting prospect. But I think we can do more. We fell to infighting and politicking back on Earth. Instead of fighting our way out of this one, let us focus on Industry. If we build cities grander than any alien can knock down, the other colonists will come to us.

We must unite humanity against the aliens, turning this planet into a world of Purity. Purity for the human race. There is no nobler goal.

That said, there are many aliens yet, and we are still so weak. Until we can unite with our brothers and sisters around the planet, perhaps it is best to gather expedition research without antagonizing the aliens.

As for our friends to the South, there is plenty of room for all humankind on this new planet. I assure you, all of humanity will stand united eventually, and letting other "nations" expand will not be harmful.

Might, Harmony, Gather Research without altercation, Aggressively expand over both of our neighbours.

We came from a dying planet and we should avoid making the same mistakes we made there. The only way we can do this is by preventing our fledging nation from overrunning the natural flora and fauna of this place without first understanding how our actions affect this biome.

We should be preventing our neighbours from doing the same. But I don't see them agreeing without us wielding a big stick.

Ooh... well, turns go pretty fast in this game, and your latest turn was 26. Do you have the randomized outcome thing set? If not it might be possible to play back up to the point we would have continued from without really losing anything, right?

I was up to turn 48, with random seed on. Basically, I might be able to get it back, but....it would be different.

  • Lord_AsmodeusLord_Asmodeus goeticSobriquet: Here is your magical cryptic riddle-tumour: I AM A TIME MACHINERegistered User regular
Well, that does suck but uh, we only saw up to turn 26 based on images (if not the stuff you presented for us to vote on) so while it might turn out differently than it did, for the most part we, the voters/audience/participants probably wouldn't know the difference.

So I mean for me personally the question is do you want to/find it worth it to start over from turn 10 and work your way back up. Like would you be willing to do that? Cause this is your LP so basically I mean I'm willing to keep going as a voter I'd like to keep participating, but if you don't want to redo it all I'm not going to say you should.

It's more than just that. I feel I've made a lot of mistakes and errors in handling this as a whole.

Like, holy hell was making the game play out on standard dumb. To long!

I think I'll cancel this, and come back in a while with a similar let's play of Civ 5, which will be easier for readers and I for many reasons. Need some time both to myself and to think things out and digest the lessons of this.
